Bendtner on the brink

Nicklas Bendtner looks like he’s finally on his way out of Arsenal.

Speaking to the Danish press, his father and agent, said “I have nothing to say about anything right now. Just let me say that it is a very, very good day today”.

Rumours suggest that a deal with Stoke is in the offing, with Ekstrabladet suggesting the presence of Danish keeper Tomas Sorenson is a factor.

However, Arsenal’s interest in a number of Everton players could see him offered as part of a cash + player deal.

Since announcing his desire to leave in May, Bendtner has been ‘in talks’ with any number of clubs, yet no deal has been done. He came on as a substitute against Liverpool but missed the games against Udinese and Man United with an ‘ankle injury’.

Bendtner has scored 45 goals in 79 starts for the club, making a further 78 substitute appearances.

Rather see him go to Everton and we see Arteta or Baines coming the other way.

A few thoughts. Whilst he would have done better in a system used as a second striker, rather than the right wing position he found himself in last year (lobbing crosses in to where he should have been)- it’s a little karmic to see The Greatest Striker That Ever Lived being knocked down a peg or two. Arsenal shouldn’t even pick up the phone when Stoke call- but perhaps there’s an element of punishment here, given Super Nick’s repeated grandstanding claims, and the distinct lack of goals to back it up. The Barca miss, and all the rest. Another player… Read more »

your server sucks

Goonermonkey

LOL just shows how many fans are desperate for news. If bloggs puts up a story saying ‘Arsenal sign Roy of theRovers and Superman’ he’ll break the Internet.

Duck

Yup, the signed Goonermonkey too.. to replace Gunnersaurus.

@Needsmorebandwidth

I don’t think any server can withstand the frantic clicking of a million desperate gooners, looking for information on new signings.

trade with Everton would make sense, may it be Baines, Arteta or even Rodwell + cash. they need a striker badly too.

If he is going abroad, will they have to buy loads of flight tickets , coz he keeps missing the plane?

[…] Mickey Bendtner papa has said that talks are very good and his son is in with a high chance of leavi…. I rate him higher than Chamakh, and it’s a shame that we played him out of position so much last season. Scoring 45 goals in 157 appearances, we thank him for the goals, and wish him luck should his transfer out of Arsenal materialises. […]

[…] Arsenal’s Summer exodus and rebuilding project continues at a torrid pace as the transfer window nears closing. So far Arsenal have allowed Clichy, Nasri, and Cesc to leave along with subs Traore, Eboue, Denilson, Vela and even Nicklas Bendtner is reportedly out the door. […]

Selling Bendtner is just a ploy to cut the wage bill. We’re going to need three less ball boys to collect his off target shots.

NB

I’m sick of hearing about this clunge.
