Sagna schooled by time on the terraces

If there was one highlight amidst the doom and gloom of Wednesday night’s draw with Bolton Wanderers it was the sight of a fit-again Bacary Sagna bossing the right side of the pitch.

Out for four months after fracturing his leg against Spurs in October it’s fair to say the Gunners have missed the Frenchman’s tenacity in the tackle and positional discipline.

Five brave souls attempted to fill the gap left by the Bac-man – Nico Yennaris, Johan Djourou, Laurent Koscielny, Carl Jenkinson and Francis Coquelin – but the palpable difference in quality was there for all to see.

Reflecting on his time on the sidelines and how he attempted to improve as a player, despite not being able to step over the white line, the 28-year-old told the Arsenal website about his attempted self-education.

“I’ve watched many games, Arsenal and others, and when you’re standing with the crowd it’s totally different,” he told Arsenal Player. “You can see open spaces that you can’t when you’re on the pitch because the angles are different.

“What looks easy when you’re watching a game is often more difficult on the pitch, and you realise why supporters get nervous when you do certain things. I think I understand that more now.

“I always look at other right backs, what they do well and what they don’t, so hopefully I’ve picked up some new things for my game too.”

Would it be churlish of Arseblog News to suggest that Sagna is the epitome of LANS?

Is it odd that I listen to the Arsecast everyday of the week, generally as I’m going to bed for the night?

Anyone else notice on last week’s ‘cast, Amy Lawrence is a super heavy breather?

Comedian

Has Mrs.blogs ever been on arsecast? Will like to hear her too.

She did a voice once but has never appeared as a guest. And is unlikely to do so 😉

Runcorn Gooner

Great to see him back at Bolton. He played as
confidently as he always has done.
Put in one crunching tackle that showed he has
lost none of the grit that makes him one of the top
defenders in the EPL.

There is no more could be said ablut Sagna that have not been said. Simpley the best right back in the world. People were going on about Macon util Spud’s Monkey boy showed him off, where is Monkey boy have to switch wings and play on the right against us to avoid Sagna.

perrygrovesworld

Great to have him back. Can’t help but think if we had a team full of Sagna’s we’d be better off.
Well, we wouldn’t have suffered a full back shortage either. . . .

Crimguy

He is the epitome of class on the pitch, and always puts in 100%. And one of the cleanest players I’ve seen. Whenever he gets booked or penalized, I’m always apt to doubt the call due to his fine play.

Super BAC!

Frog

I’ve said it before, our best, most consistant player over the past three years.
