[…] Match report – Video – By the numbers […]

Thorough

Just when we were bemoaning our ineptitude at playing the 4-3-3 because of the absence of a Fabregas-like fulcrum, in comes Rosicky, a man that plays the Fabregas role….better than Fabregas himself.

sJ

Okay let’s not get carried away here

feygooner

I hope you’re not being serious.

GoonerPitt

i hate fabregas witha vengeance….but i know u are just joking….are you?

paddymac

Why do you hate Fabregas?

Peter

I can’t think of many people less deserving of Arsenal fans’ “hate” than Fabregas. He gave seven years of excellent service, and since leaving he’s been effusive in his support for Arsenal and unreserved in his gratitude toward Wenger and the club.

Peter

I would very much love for Rosicky to be as good as Fabregas or better than Fabregas, both because it would be great for the club and because I like him. However, I think this might be ever-so-slightly overdoing the praise.

Goontang

Cesc was in the stands against newcastle…. i could never hate the guy… i was more heartbroken when he left……..
but im not sure if Rosicky’s numbers add up…. it says 1 chance created. i can think of 2 atleast….. 1 for van persie…. the other chance was brilliant which he created for walcott……. but led to him blasting “comically wide”

Cygan's Third Leg

I wish you were right.

Thorough

Just stumbled on a fantastic website, the mood exactly opposite to that on all Arsenal websites today. It is constituted by a race of people simply referred to as the 3Gs -Goaded, Groaning Geordies – and it is titled ‘Le Grief’. Sorry, thats an aside.

Trollsene

Don’t read that rubbish. Will depress the life out of you. Sometimes I wonder if Piers Morgan runs that site.

Jeff

You think that’s negative and depressing, try online gooner! I just sent the note below to them. I was a waverer when it came to Arsene, but I just resigned my readership of that negative site. This is what I wrote and probably they won’t post. “What a bunch of whingeing tossers you lot on here are. I can’t believe that after going 1 point behind the scum, you lot are still moaning. Give the team some credit, jesus christ it must be dark in your collective worlds. The joy and the atmosphere at the final whistle and you still… Read more »

@Trollsene, Jeff, et al. Sorry to dissapoint you but I wasnt talking about Le Grove AT ALL, I was rather taking a swipe at the Geordies. You overestimate me actually, I dont hate those folks in Le Grove. Just because their opinions on Arsene Wenger is as negative as ours on Arseblog is as positive dont make them outcasts. Though I actually think the truth is somewhere in-between. Long Live Arsenal.

Lord_triplee

Always – Number of times Howard Webb has been a slimmy cunt

Always – Number of Times I would be a gunner

1 – Number of Jack Daniels to celebrate last nite’s win

1 – Matches remaining to claim third spot

2 – Number of cunts that left arsenal last season (Nasri and Clichy)

Amazing stats!

Anon

Don’t believe Clichy has ever said a bad word about Arsenal though. Was one of the most loyal players if you ask me.

Trollsene

Agree, Clichy had just said he moved to Citeh to win titles. I wonder how is that going so far.

Na$ri on the other hand…

Eric Irish gunner

Noting against clichy but while at arsenal he did say players only go to city for the money and then ends up there himself

Bendtners_ego

I believe that Webb is the one who added 5 min of extra time because a certain mouthy cunt was taking too long on his kicks, so you can’t really slag him off too much.

In fact, we should be grateful for the Fergie time.

Bendigo Shafter

12 – the number of times Martin Keown called him Theo Wilcott on 5 Live last night.

Stig Eri Mikalsen

thats far better than what Clause Lundekvam (Norwegian ex-Southhampton player) calls him. He has on several occations called him by the name of Wallcock.

Jake

Haha, he is so useless. Been talking shit about Arsenal all year, and now he seems to be out biggest fan

Celebrity Serb

Most important number is 1 -1 might argue that RVP alone keep us in fight in Champion League alone.
If not for RVP AW positon would also be in jepardy.
If we have like 3 players who are like 50 % of quality of RVP we would fight on all 4 fronts.
As it is..finishing third will be counted as achievement.
Some disappointing performances recently..followed by some great ones.
Another summer coming ..and becuase of Euro prices will be inflated.
He better spend now..rather than later..
Lets not get too over excited..we have been here b4

bob's your uncle

very well said.
if it wasn’t for all of the players he bought, Wenger wouldn’t even have a job,.. the useless old twat.

Celebrity Serb

“Hidden due to low comment rating”

What is this..you tube??:-)

paddymac

No, it’s a useful way of filtering out cuntwits like you.

7amkickoff

Arsetube.

Master Bates

Ramsey should rotate with Arteta , That #10 role is for the brave ones , the ones who are not afraid to run at players and make forward passes.

Arteta and Ramsey are very good at keeping the ball , Rosicky at creating chances with the ball

stonedwasherman

Agreed. As much as we slate Ramsey for not being able to play the ‘rosicky’ role convincingly, I have a feeling he would be an able replacement for Arteta. A mid-field trio of Ros-Ramsey-Song would definitely be a viable alternative to our first choice midfield

Glenn

And then have (a fit) Wilshere to rotate with Rosicky, and buy a second DM…

#10 role: Wilshere + Rosicky
Engine room: Arteta + Ramsey
Defensive mid: Song + A.N. Other

Enviable.

Master Bates

#10 role: Wilshere + Rosicky
Engine room: Arteta + Ramsey
Defensive mid: Song + le COQ

..and we have Lansbury,Frimmers,Ozzy and Eisfeld to cover when our shit luck with injuries starts again

puppyguts

don’t for get we still hav frimpong

Alex

You guys talk about Ozzy,Lansbury and Frimpong.. What about the champion we have called Francis Coquelin who plays LB and RB like he was born to play there though his original position is DM? The only bad thing right now is that we have an excess of DM’s in our team. Frimpong, Coquelin, Yennaris and Song. Not all can play. So we have to lose one or more of these promising players. I don’t want Song to leave this summer! I’d give him a 100k package to just shut his mouth 😛 And Coquelin needs more action IMO! AW convinced… Read more »

Bob

Ramsey is awful at keeping the ball!

Master Bates

he is good at keeping the ball , actually that’s his weakness . he finished matches with more than 85% pass completion rate ,but creates very few chances.

Merlin's Panini

1- terracotta clayfaced white haired cunt on the sidelines.

1- Heroic and bad ass, at the same time, Gooner captain.

Eric Irish gunner

Hahaha fucking classic

Anon

7amkickoff, good work as usual, but I’m starting to think it’d be a lot better if you had this kinda format:

Passes attempted (successful) – 28 (27)
Shots (on target) – 100 (88)
etc etc

I had to read 2 full lines of description and some thinking to get that Sagna passed 27 times successfully while he misplaced a pass only once the whole match.

Jesper Tengquist

Good stuff, love these posts!

Great picture of Verminator, btw. He looks like a hungry wolf – chasing after a chicken on a basketball.

Tom

http://www.espnstar.com/editorial/news/detail/item769067/Arsenal-vs-Newcastle-Player-Ratings/

“Arteta – 5.5
The former Everton midfielder never got to grips with the game and looked off the pace with his passing”.

He completed 83 passes!

Tom
Peter

Does anyone have a clue how you’re meant to use the thumbs-up/down buttons? Does thumbs-up mean you approve of the rating given, or approve of the player’s performance?

Franky Knuckles McGuire

rosicky was outstanding last night !!

26Feb2012

Thanks as usual for the numbers. Just wondering-

“28 – Total aerial duels between Arsenal and Newcastle
7 – Aerial duels in the first half
14 – Aerial duels in the second half”

7 and 14 don’t add up to 28, or am i missing something?

7amkickoff

hURp… I read the wrong column…

it should read 21 in the second half.

corrected.

golds73

1 – Number of managers reaching Twitchon5 after last night.

Nubbles

Wow, I am amazed how much our right wing has improved since Sagna returned.

I am definitely excited for a possible AOC/Gibbs combination on the left. The problem is that both are young and inexperienced, and don’t have a natural flow yet. But that’ll come with time (that said, looking forward to a Santos/AOC combination as well)

Voldermort

35.000 the number of arses that will be twitching in N17 at every home game between now and may.

BARNBOY

I know it’s slightly off the subject but Kenny Dalglish is an even bigger twat than I originally thought…..

Glory Hunter

Honestly Barnboy, i dont think thats possible!

Eric Irish gunner

45- the number of seconds that prick pardew had to celebrate before he crawled back into his fucking hole

7amkickoff

No one caught the fact that Pardew’s one tactical coup was to bring on Perch?

I debated about whether to include this line:

5 – Successful tackles by James Perch in 45 minutes of play (of 5 attempts)*

Glory Hunter

Not bad substiution i guess, but it’ll be interseting to see Santon’s stat.
He was definately more of an attacking threat than Perch, but defensively non existent!

Highberry

One stat I would be really interested in, and this is pretty unrelated, but pundits always say about goalkeepers that good ones can win you 10+ points a season, anyone have any idea how many points sczez has won us?

etteJ

You can start with 3 at Cuntfield.

Thorough

@Sj, feygooner, et al. I am sorry to dissapoint you but I am not joking and with good reason too. Be my guest. What are the most important ingredients of a playmaker? His range of passes, quickness of thought, dribbling ability, shooting ability and to a lesser extent his tackling. Fabregas has an amazing range of passes and he can spot a player when no other can: to see not only the impossible but also to execute it made him probably the best playmaker in the EPL for more than a couple of years. And we all worship him for… Read more »

feygooner

Fabregas is Barca’s second leading scorer and 2nd/3rd (don’t remember exactly) in assists. Rosicky, despite his recent form, would not make the Barca bench.

I can’t believe you actually think Rosicky is a better player than Fabregas. Fabregas is one of the best playmakers of his generation. Rosicky is the best Czech player of his generation (that I can think of). There’s a HUGE difference between Fabregas and Rosicky.

feygooner

And I agree with you, we need to get over Fabregas. However, that does not mean that we start downgrading him and hating him. Whatever he did or didn’t do in his last season, he was exceptional and dedicated for the 6 seasons or so before.

Remember that penalty he scored vs Barca with a broken leg?

Thorough

@Feygooner. I dont mean in the littlest to drag this debate, I just wanted to commend your effort at pushing across your opinion without any obscenity unlike a whole lot of people here who thinks anybody with a differing opinion is a twonk, twat, cork, warts and all. As much as I think expressing my agreement or otherwise on this topic will change little, I do believe that even if Saha was in the Barca attack he will score a boat-load: those monsters create a chance every ten minutes…or less! However I think what we have now and what we… Read more »
