Andre’s adapted at Arsenal

If you follow Andre Santos on Twitter you’ll know the Brazilian left back/striker is a hugely positive person.

Where others see clouds, he sees sunshine, where some see difficulty, he sees opportunity. This could also mean he takes a lot of hallucinogenics but chances are it’s just his happy-go-lucky nature.

And this outlook on life has helped him settle into life in England, on the pitch and off, far quicker than other players we’ve seen at the club.

Speaking to the official matchday programme, Santos admits that his experience in European football with Fenerbache meant English football wasn’t as big a culture change as it might have been if he’d come straight from Brazil, but says he wants to improve the defensive side of his game.

“Whoever comes from Brazilian football into Europe needs to improve their defensive aspects,” he said,  “but maybe Brazilian defenders are a bit under-rated in that part of their football. I believe that I learnt a lot on that side of my game in Turkish football.

“I have not come here straight from Brazil so my background is not the same as others. I hope to improve more on my defending now I’m in England.”

And despite the very big differences in climate and lifestyle, he claims to be well and truly settled into English life and the football.

“I think I am totally adapted to English football now. I’ve always thought that this is one of the best leagues in the world so I’m very happy to be part of the Premier League.

“I get on well, football-wise, with my team-mates and also off the pitch. There’s no doubt a professional athlete should always be looking to improve in everything they do.

“I know I can improve in every area — a little bit defensively, a little bit offensively, my positioning on the field for example. There’s always room for improvement, that’s what footballers look for.”

The Cuddly Maverick was coming beginning to really settle into the side before picking up an ankle injury which kept him out for three months, but his positive outlook has seen him return determined to make an impact. And having that kind of character in the dressing room can only be a good thing too.

He farts kittens.

Simao Segunda

He’s pleased to be here, and all the other gays are pleased to have him.

Bryce

Where others see guys, he sees gays.

Quicksot

‘For every minute u r angry u lose 60 seconds of happiness, be happy and enjoy life, day off 2morrow,time to enjoy the family and chill out!!’ – André Santos (!!!)

That is why I’m a follower.

Oops, missed something. !!!

ThaatArsenalGuy

that’s so gay

iSayed

I’m really starting to love this gay!

Borneo Gooner

Very positive gay indeed.

AMURICAH

he’s like a brazilian teddy bear, I just want to jug him really bad.

AMURICAH

god dammit, *hug, once again spelling proves to be incredibly hard

the only sam is nelson

he still scares me defensively

but he’s got the right number on the back of his shirt at least given the way he plays

seems a top bloke as well, fuck knows what he’d have made of someone like gallas.

Charlie

I thought he was one of our best players against Chelsea, always trying to make things happen.

If I were Arsene, I’d think seriously about playing him along side Song or on the left, given our absentees.

John

Top gay.

suraj

very happy go lucky gay!

Nick

Just wanted to say I love you gays!

SmokinGunner

But get on his wrong side and he wont hesitate in eating you.

Nick

just ask Balotelli!

Arselood

Clichey, Gibbs, Santos….meh. We’ve never replaced Cole. The truth hurts.

the only sam is nelson

to be fair, cashley would walk into pretty much any team (club or international) in the world, certainly up to this year. 10 years ago cashley was keeping silvinho out of teh arsenal side, and silvinho was keeping roberto carlos out otf the brazil side. so we *all know* just how good he is/was. Arsenal have always been lucky with the LB position, certainly for the last 40 years or so, we’ve had a solid line of quality full backs on the left. Ian Wright – irreplaceable until DB10. Same with TH14 and RvP. You don’t have to be the… Read more »

I love how you didn’t put Cesc in there. I have a feeling he will come back in a few years. Wouldn’t it be sweet if we actually poached a player after he developed elsewhere for once!

waitressinthesky

I think Cesc will WANT to come back, but I hope we don’t bring him back. He asked to leave. And his on-the-field actions the last 1/2 season he was with us showed he felt pretty “meh” about playing for Arsenal.

(Too bad, because I used to like the way he plays.)

I don’t think Cesc has been irreplaceable… Rosicky, Song and Arteta have been the second-best part of our team this season (you know, after RVP).

vin_unleaded

Not sure how Cesc would fit in with Wilshire kicking on.

He’s moved on, so should we.

Too Drunk To Be Offside

I liked Fab and though to be honest there are not many players who have scored for Arsenal with a broken foot. But that apart, his actions in the past 2 years were disgraceful. Just cos he never spoke to the media doesn’t mean that he was not speaking to Barcelona behind Arsenal’s back, constantly plotting his move away from the team, and it was very obvious where is affiliations lay and honestly he was so desperate to get away that he paid part of the transfer fee to get away. I mean that is as bad as its gets… Read more »

ThaatArsenalGuy

why the hell are you bringing common sense into the equation?
I love to hate cashley

Santos would call him “the gay mobile phone”

ThaatArsenalGuy

*correction*
“the gay with the mobile phone”

ggggggoooooooonnnnnnneerrrrr

i really hate it but i have to agree with you there arselood, cole was a brilliant left back and we still dont have real, top of the league, champions leauge winners quality there, gibbs is a very good player with lots of time to improve but ashley cole and silvinho were world class, sigh…. if we had ashley cole in the team our defense would be real world-beaters.

Old man grape

we never replaced Winterburn… will always remember ‘that goal” v the chavs

ilya

Yea its hard to replace the best LB in England, maybe one of top 3 best LBs in world. Everyone is aware of this, so you’re comment is pretty pointless. The ‘truth hurts’ lol, as if your comment is at all insightful.

TomC

Yes. Sadly I think that’s right. You don’t have to be a nice gay to be better gay.

To me the Cashley loss, the failure to sign Alonso and the way we dealt with Gilberto laid the base for the difficlties we’ve experienced over the last 3 seasons…

Much will turn on who we buy and, more importantly somehow, who we let go this summer.

RobM

Here’s a large refreshing cup of get over it.

Players come and go but the club will always be here.

Jeff

Good on ya, Andre. Keep up the positive spirit and we’ll samba away with trophies next season.

ggggggoooooooonnnnnnneerrrrr

im really starting to think all Brazilians are real nice gays

Bendtners_ego

“im really starting to think all Brazilians are real nice gays”

To which I counter with the name, “Danni Alves.”

Nick

Danni Alves is a bigger cunt than John Terry!

PaulDavis'RightHook

sorry nick, its just not possible, JT is the biggest cunt in the galaxy

Stoph

John Terry is THE cunt

Ibeka

I’ll love to see him with the EPL trouphy next season

Ibeka

I’ll love to see him with the EPL trouphy next season. This gay is so photogenic

Cygan's Third Leg

This player is the first one in memory that Wenger puts in direct and obvious competition with another player. Wenger usually has favourites, but recently he is giving both Gibbs and that nice gay Santos a chance to prove themselves in every game. It’s only good for the team; and for a hungry youngster and grounded veteran to be in such a position presents very few problems. Other players may throw their toys out of da MUTHAFUCKIN PRAM MATE!

Arselood

Two average/good left backs or the very best….who would you want (if Cole wasn’t a cunt)?

feygooner

Mostly unrelated, but I think GIbbs has done pretty well in the past few matches.

Redsy

I love this guy and I bet he doesnt want to play in the fucking olympics either.

Nikki

He is a very good tackler i think and I would like to see him play in front of Gibbs again. But i don’t know if it is a good move in the Stoke match this week.
By the way, about his twitter account., why is he never show up in player tweets page on Arsenal.com? If he doesn’t show up there, i just still feel a little doubt about the authenticity.

PaulDavis'RightHook

Love his whole attitude, that positivity will rub off on others. The team seem to be bonding well, the vibe seems good. Lets hope with the LANS boys and a couple of new guys we can get up Fergie’s big red hooter next year.

Merlin's Panini

yeh, he loves rubbing off on all the other gays.

Bendtners_ego

“sorry nick, its just not possible, JT is the biggest cunt in the galaxy”

JT a bigger cunt than El Hadj Diouf?? I think not, sir. Diouf is captain of my All-Cock Sucker starting XI.

PaulDavis'RightHook

O contrair Rodders, Mon diouf!

ye cannae change the laws of physics, JT’s cunterry is only eclipsed by the Sun.

Steven Howard is pretty close though! 😉

goontang

i wouldnt minds seeing him play left wing at stoke

tim

Yeah we all want a headless chicken at our defence. Good luck with that. Wigan game, first goal—–his positioning was atrocious, i’m even scared of reviewing the clip.geez!!!!!.

Hassan

If your talking about cunts, JT takes the biscuit (and probably your wife too) He takes being a cunt and mastered it in the European stage, just look at Tuesday. Diouf hasn’t got shit on him

Naija Gunner

Dench to the gay!

And talking about cunts compare JT and Shawcross and tell me who’s the worst and baddest cunt?

Melania

Potrebbe anche non essere atftfao male ma voglio aspettare qualche news in pi anche per la trama ed il game play. Comunque devo dire che mi sembra che qualcosa si stia muovendo.
