Arsenal’s loan player stats – 2011-12

Last season Arsenal loaned out a whole host of players, some young, some not, some established, some developing, but all of them had two legs, which is handy for footballers.

Anyway, we’ve put together the stats so you can see how they performed at their various clubs. They’re posted in no particular order.

1) it’s Rayo vallecano and not Real 🙂

2) would be interesting to know how many assists they got as well

Jackorules

Lansbury should have a clean sheet to his name 🙂

Danny

“Frimponging van der Vaart right in his stupid face with the ball: 1”

YES Frimpong!

Heya

I’m glad you cleared up the Brazilian thing for us, I was a bit confused about why his goal count was 0.

Ace McGoldrick

9 yellows and 2 reds? Denilson getting stuck in I see.

rumbrave

Yes, probably leaving his foot in senslessly in his own box giving away cheap penalties.

bc

Yeah watched the whole 90 mins of his match yesterday he was awful.

Craig

I believe the two reds were in his first 2 or 3 games also.

van persism should b a religion

Just found out a new fun thing to do. Not much news anywhere about arsenal so check out newsnow:tottenham and enjoy them mourn about their heartbreaking premature ‘exit’ from next season’s champion’s league. Its fun, try it

Said

Wasn’t Galindo on loan at Gimnastic or Salamanca?? I would’ve noticed if he was at Rayo.

vino

Great stats Vela. He’ll improve in Spain I recon, he’s just not built mentally or physically for the Prem. In fact I predict he’ll score shedload over the next few seasons, be picked up by Barca or Real, and flop horrendously under the pressure in 2016-17.

Anon

Or start flopping (physically) on the pitch to attract Barca.

AFC

Useful!

Denilson’s 2 red cards do surprise me.

I still think Vela should get a second chance.

Gutbukkit Deffrolla

It won’t happen if he doesn’t want it.

dink arnold

10 clean sheets in 23 appearances for mannone is pretty damn impressive in any league. Well done sir!

Master bates

Henri LANSbury also had 1 clean sheet

Attasmani

Would be nice to see assists as well (especially for Ryo), and maybe for defenders clean sheets.
Otherwise nice stats, they help to get an idea who could have a future at Arsenal. I’d guess that Miyaichi and Campell have a good chance and I’d love Frimpong to succeed at Arsenal but I’m not sure about him

Attasmani

I guess Chuks Aneke’ club is Preston

dejilinho

Will be interesting to see the decisions AW makes over the Pre-season. The 25-man rule will also have effects on the things around. It’d be nice to see the likes of Afobe pushing for the bench than Chamakh.

I can’t wait to the shape of the youth during the Carling Cup with Bould in charge.

El blondo

What shocked me was our pint sized Russian picking up 3 yellow cards – love the wee man for those great memories but this stat indicates he at least attempted tackles…this isn’t the meerkat I’ve grown to love & hate all at the same time!

argonaut

Another unproductive loan spell for Wellington.

Time to give him the boot? 😉

Comedian

Nooooooooooooo…

argonaut

For someone who calls himself “Comedian”, it’s somewhat amusing you didn’t spot my little joke.

Wellington. Boot. Geddit?

Comedian from watchmen

This is the problem from keyboard the other person might take that reply in some other way. Same thing happened with me long before when i was new at chat a girl whom i knew in person asked if iiked her i said yeahhh, she said get lost (in a shy way) i took it the other way and said fuck off.
I got that little joke of yours if not i would have followed it by some reasoning like i always do.

argonaut

Don’t worry, Comedian, I’m not interested in dating you.

Savage

Nice work. Would be interested to see the appearances separated into starts and subs.

Gutbukkit Deffrolla

And I would like to see you attach action replays of all the goals, assists and especially Henri Lansbury’s clean sheet.

His return to the team makes Henri LANS and LANG*

( *Like A New Goalkeeper. )

Walcott's Footballing Brain

Potentially misleading thing with stats about loanees is that many of the appearances would have been as substitutes, though I don’t suppose anyone has information about minutes played? Great stats though, am looking forward to the likes of Lansbury, Afobe and Miyaichi being given a chance in the first team!

Xxxrob

Best name ever haha

Fatgooner

Mannone’s stats look pretty impressive, don’t they? Maybe he should be recalled as reserve keeper for next season.

Mr. G

Yeah, Mannone got a lot of stick for that strange ninja kick attempted save when at Olympiacos when he thought he was outside his own area. Thought it was a bit harsh when you consider the fact that he wouldn’t have had to be in the position if our defence hadn’t cocked up, and I don’t remember him doing much else wrong in that match.

Maybe if he’s no. 2 next season he’ll want to stay? Give him a few Carling Cup games and see how he does. He never really had much of a chance.

Too Drunk To Be Offside

Does Joel Campbell Qualify for a WP next year……….he looks like he could add something to the line up as third choice striker. I would say 10 goals next year all competitions. I would like Lansbury to be a part of the first team next year……..I like him and he could play all across the midfield. I also feel that we have enough players coming through to not necessarily have to buy from outside to replace our extras like Denilson, Bendtner, Chamakh, Park and Diaby.. I think that Myachi, Campbell, Lansbury, Bartley and Eastmond are all capable of being part… Read more »

Caribkid

Campbell may soon be eligible for a work permit since he has been a full time starter for his national team over the past 1 1/2 years.

None of the guys you mentioned are ready yet to assume a role on the 1st team with maybe the exception of Ryo who tailed off somewhat during his Bolton stint.

Campbell and Afobe need to get experience at the EPL level with one of the bottom feeders. Personally, I like Bartley(having seen him play quite a few games for Rangers) but it seems that the most important person, Arsene, foes not.

Redcore

You watched Bartley play? I myself did not so I may be wrong here. But if you ‘scout’ him in youtube he looks to me like our own ‘Shawcross’ 🙁 .. Lumps the ball upfield when he gets the chance and loves to tackle both player and ball. I did have high hopes for him once but he has to improve. Arsenal’s CB’s have to play the ball out from the back so I really don’t see how he fits in especially with Miquel around who has all these attributes but is not quite as physical as KB. Maybe if… Read more »

As much as I advocate bringing on young players, if we don’t have enough money to pay RvP’s wages then we definitely need to cut some of these players loose to keep him.

Master Bates

theoretically that’s a good idea , Sell 10 youngsters and offer RvP 250K . but if you give RvP 250K , other players will start demanding atleast 110K ,Player like Walcott and Song whose contract need to be renewed

ggggggoooooooonnnnnnneerrrrr

im not so sure i agree, yes we might loose van persie but we still keep our future with us and with prospects such as campbell, ryo, ignasi and coquelin etc…it would be quite foolish to just get rid of all of them just to offer a 29 year old striker 250k a week, yes he is our best player but we have to find a middle ground, if we dont, we willregret it in a few years when van persie is 30+ years old and and we have no talented youngsters to back him up.

Too Drunk To Be Offside

Ok Totally unrealated………..

I am bored of Football Manager now……..I have been playing for over a decade, and I find it not appealing at all.

Are there alternatives………..I know there is FIFA Manager, but that is not to my taste.

Are there any alternatives………..

This seems like as good a place as any to ask this.

rumbrave

I feel like you should reconsider that. After all, Football Manager gives you the ultimate knowledge about every footballer in the world. Your opinions become facts and no one should argue them (except if he played FM himself). Experience gained in other manager games is not as highly valued among your peers and even might not be enough to get the Liverpool job. That’s saying a lot.

miranda

This is off-topic but I’d like to recommend an important article on Peter Hill-Wood in gooner-talk which you may find informative if uncomfortable reading. I nearly gave it a miss, imagining from the title that it was just some trivial, jokey piece that wouldn’t tell me anything new. Far from it. Its well-researched revelations about Hill-Wood’s own financial interests in Russia (yes, that murky place full of criminals whose ill-gotten billions can’t be allowed to sully the good name of our club) are particularly chilling as they go a long way towards explaining the favouring of Kroenke and the refusal… Read more »

Conner

That is quite the article. Scary stuff. I am always so distracted by game itself, but I have sensed and heard rumblings for a while that things were not right at the top of the club. I have been pretty critical of Hill-Wood these past few years, and this article reinforces my worries. I was never to happy about Kroenke buying up the club, mainly because he seemed to be doing it for business. And he owns the MLS rapids and NFL’s Rams, both teams that I would like to see die in a fiery, horrific plane crash. Let’s hope… Read more »

a staggering article, really had me reeling, terrible feeling as an arsenal supporter reading this, Arseblog, it would be excellent if you could a report on this or put it in the news section, the more arsenal fans know about this the better

miranda

I agree it ought to be widely read and calmly and constructively discussed, though I fear that it won’t be, at least not on fan sites such as this. Fan sites tend to be polarised between those looking for a stick with which to beat Wenger – any stick, however pointless and ill-suited will do pefectly fine – and those who want to give him unconditional support who therefore prefer to brush every kind of bad news under the carpet. I myself don’t think whether you’re pro or anti Wenger is relevant here; I don’t even think the pro-Kroenke versus… Read more »

Fatgooner

Thanks for the link, Miranda. Absolutely fascinating reading. I think that every Arsenal fan should read this – especially those who routinely slag me off on this website.

A I’ve said from the beginning: Kroenke is the worst thing that has ever happened to this club. Peter Dead-wood and the Yank are destroying our club.

miranda

Fat gooner

You’re welcome and I’ll leave you with this, just in case you want to depress yourself any further:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/ben_lyttleton/09/23/arsenal.wenger/index.html

Ben Lyttleton is a respected journalist who writes occasional pieces on French football for the Guardian – I doubt he’d say anything if he wasn’t very sure of his facts; besides, Philippe Auclair made some very similar comments on the way contracts and transfers were handled last summer. Let’s hope for a big improvement this time around with Gazidis/Law already hard at work getting Song and Walcott to agree to new deals.

TomC

More stilted than Stilton but the coordination is so sweeet. Bless.

Yawn.

Rickross

Really good read, made me loose a bit of sleep last night. I always had my suspicions over the board but I never realised it was that bad. I feel all of us arsenal fans are being fooled by PHW.

Reading that makes me want to do something about it, but the sad fact is there is nothing I can do, or any of us, apart from hope something changes

Harry

Angryofislington also did an interesting piece on the matter today. Look it up

Safety

Articles like this, interesting as they are, usually demand the return of David Dein. Which makes one suspicious of their provenance. Articles about how heinous Usmanov is likewise usually defend the PHW/Kroenke alliance. The mudslinging between the two factions ought to make us distrust them both, not pick sides.

The only way to prevent “murky” ownership is to get rid of the lot of them and have the club 100% owned by supporters.

Gutbukkit Deffrolla

It’s an opinion piece, while the “murky dealings” of Peter Hill-Wood being quoted within it are seemingly from another opinion piece.

My opinion is that it’s all conspiracy-theory bollocks. I’m losing no sleep over Peter Hill-Wood having connections to a friends’ Company. That’s normality, not the death-knell of our football club.

Mat

Can we get some clairty of the 25 player rule.

from my understanding its 25 players over the age of 21 right? all players under 21 get a free ride right?

so Henri Lansbury can play for the arsenal and not be a part of the 25? Same for Ryo, Chuks, Gibbs, the Ox etc etc…

Caribkid

Most importantly, we can’t have more than 18 over 21 players who are not homegrown. Also, any player who is U-21 is not required to be part of the 25 man squad.

gunnie

Miranda, don’t believe everything you read. What a load of bullshit, and Dein was sacked because he opposed to the new stadium…

miranda

No, he wasn’t – check it out. He did oppose the stadium but it wasn’t for that he was sacked. The sacking came later when he wanted – oh the irony of it – to bring in Kroenke. Bullshit? I thought it was an effortful, decently researched bit of work, if not very well written. Could you elaborate, i.e. say exactly which bits are factually inaccurate or misinterpreted by the bloke who wrote it – the financial bits, the composition of the board? I’d like to think the best of Hill-Wood (or at least to return to thinking of him… Read more »

Walcott's Footballing Brain

Am expecting a few thumbs down on this one, but does anyone else think that, despite his widly inflated ego and sometimes infuriating ability to miss the goal completely, that perhaps Bendtner still has something to offer at Arsenal? He offers a plan B to van Persie, which has maybe been a bit lacking this season, and I do seem to remember him scoring a great couple of goals at the tail end of last season. I may be mad, but Ijust feel that, for example if he was available at another club on a free, we would all be… Read more »

Dick Swiveller

IF the loan spell has made him realise what he has at Arsenal and a bit of humility has enabled him to see that there was a reason why he couldn’t be trusted as the central striker, and he’s willing to work on it then I’d happily welcome him here as he has ability and his height is very useful to our team of midgets. I doubt all these things have happened though and we’re better off shunting him out to Germany to recoup a bit of money and looking outside for someone who can do that job.

Walcott's Footballing Brain

Yeah I do agree with you Mr Swiveller, I just think it’s such a shame that a guy as lucky as Bendtner is shoving it all down the drain with his horrible attitude. How many people would kill to be paid a fortune to play the game that they love? Above all we need a team of fighters, who are honoured to wear the shirt. – just look at Frimpong’s recent comments! Still, if we do end up hanging on to him, we can always just put him on for the last 10 minutes against Sp*rs to kick the shit… Read more »

Gutbukkit Deffrolla

Bendtner himself said that he never wanted to play for Arsenal again. He fully intends that anything he has to offer a football club goes to some other football club.

I agree he had a few excellent moments for Arsenal, and it’s a shame he didn’t/couldn’t/wouldn’t make it here, but when a player turns his back on a club he has to go.

Rectum Spectrum

big seasons for vela, bender, and Ryo. good news. i’m always curious about Vela. could he contribute to the 1st team over a season? i wouldn’t be against seeing that.

either way, great seasons if we’re looking to offload. Ryo – a keeper for sure – has done fantastically well. driven young man.

BlueNose96

I’m a Rangers fan and Kyle Bartley’s loan spell was a waste of time. Arsenal can learn very little from it as he was never played in his proper position (Centre Back). He was usually played at right-back or sometimes even in midfield as the team was lacking due to injuries, suspensions and just the difficult times the team were, and still are, going through. Wenger should give Bartley another loan spell next season at a team where he is actually going to play at centre-back and judge him this time next year.
