Walcott hails Spanglish Jack

Theo Walcott has paid tribute to teammate and England colleague Jack Wilshere, suggesting he’s a got a touch of the Spanish about him.

As we know the Spain midfield is packed with players of high techincal quality and Walcott believes that Wilshere has that special something that puts him in the same bracket.

Speaking to RWD, Theo said, “Jack, being left-footed, he’s got something different. He’s got that quality that we haven’t quite got. People say the English haven’t got that Spanish-type player and Jack’s very classy on the ball. Very comfortable. Being out for such a long time, you can’t expect loads from Jack, but I think he’s bounced back well.

“I don’t like seeing any players getting injured for that amount of time, and at that age, so to see him come back into training everyday, talking like it’s nothing, you’ve got to give credit to him.”

Theo is also looking for the team to build on the win against Sp*rs and, with a run of relatively winnable fixtures, start climbing the table.

“You want to see where you are around Christmas time, but anyone can go on a good run. We’ve got a lot of home games coming up now so I think, with home support we can get some very good results.

“We’ve also played some very tough teams away from home now, so hopefully that’s going to come into our favour around summertime.”

And after confirming again to the matchday programme that he’s hopeful of signing a new deal at the club, he again expressed his desire to sort out his future with Arsenal. Asked what it would for him, he replied, “Playing consistently at that level for Arsenal, and winning trophies.”

We shall see.

I’m going to get thumbed down into oblivion but apart from his goal last night, wilshere wasn’t at his best last night, in the opening half I could cout the amount of times he passed directly to the feet of an opposition player, hopefully he can improve his passing for villa. Although saying this I don’t mind if he has a 25% pass accuracy if we win 2-0 all the time!

*couldn’t count

Guess we watched different games.

For some reason in the 1st half the team was not on the same wavelength in terms of passing. I remember laying my head back in frustration countless times. Reason: we just weren’t connecting our passes. ( Chambo – sagna – giroud) alot of misplaced passes there but we came back to life in the second half. Good.

We acknowledge jack is not yet there but if he’s this exciting now then at 100% I expect blinders game in game out from this lad.

Remember the invincibles. Because we aren't good anymore

Definitely see your point, but lets not forget he’s been out for ‘however-bloody-long’ and with that considered I think he’s done brilliantly. He’s given the team and also us fans a lift which was something that was very much needed. Yes, a few passes were off, he admitted this too, but the passion and determination he plays with were second to none. He also takes the creative burden off Cazorla – we’re not just looking for Santi to produce some magic.

AGunner

Seb why would you get voted down, it’s a fact he was sloppy in the first half. But he stepped it up in the second as the rest of the team did and was clear to see. He’s still coming back from injury, a good full 90 mins yday, a few more and he’ll be back to his best in no time.

Seb

Because if you say any opinion that is slightly controversial or different on this site you get labelled as not a true supporter or some other bullshit, Ramsey doubters know what I mean

Safety

No thumbs down. JW said so himself. He wasn’t pleased with his performance. But we’re pleased we have a player with the requisite level of self criticism and desire to improve that marks someone out for greatness

He has been out injured and he is a young player. Young players make errors and players returning form injury, especially as long an injury as Jack suffered, it takes time to get back to full fitness. Give him another couple of months and you will see the old Jack and an ever improving Arsenal.

Dick Swiveller

No, you’re quite right. He looked a little out of place to start with, maybe still not up to speed on CL football. Sorted it out after 30/35 minutes though and contributed well, the miracle is how good he looks even whilst looking short of match sharpness.

this is why you will probably never be satisfied.

It will all come back with his fitness and more games under his belt he’s being out for awhile, the lad is class

SIGN DA TING!

The quotes are wrong, this is the correct version with his “you know” You know, I don’t like seeing any players getting injured for that amount of time, you know and at that age, so to see him you know come back into training everyday, talking like it’s nothing, you know, you’ve got to give credit to him.” “You know, you want to see where you are around Christmas time, you know but anyone can go on a good run. Now I like Theo but the amount of cliches he uses in interviews makes me weep.

stonedwasherman

a well oiled PR machine mate..

Dick Swiveller

Indeed, no coincidence that every time he opens his mouth he talks about wanting to play up front, making sure the PR backlash is on us rather than him when he jumps ship due to lack of cash.

Speed racer sign dat or we’ll see u as another £chasing na$ri of a guy.

” no theo, i don’t know, how about you sign da ting and then tell me about it?”.

“THEO SIGN DAT TIN“

AledoBren

If you get the flu and have a few days off work are you up and running as well as you were before you went off sick? Probably not.

I hate people who decide on a player without making allowances for injuries or age. Fucking X was rubbish tonight we should sell him. It turns out to be X’s second time on the pitch in the first team. Some fans need to grow up and learn patience.

Paul Carroll

Wilshere is a top player an will be back fully in the swing of things sooner rather than later an I can’t wait for it… An also giroud is a top top striker who works his sack off every game.. Something we have been lacking since Henry defending from the front.. Good times ahead for the arsenal!

Mr Wenger

you should buy Theo’s autobiography. It is a very good read!

Listening to Walcott these days confuses me.

“You want to see where you are around Christmas time, but anyone can go on a good run. We’ve got a lot of home games coming up now so I think, with home support we can get some very good results”

The fixture list says that there will be 4 games we play at home and 4 away by New Year day. So what is the difference?

Anyone having any idea of what is going on in Walcott’s head? Or I’ll have to have mine examined asap.

Red Cannon

He’s basically saying that we have a soft list of fixtures up until Christmas. He doesn’t want to directly insult the likes of Reading & Wigan, but he’s implying that an away game at Reading or Wigan is as likely to give you 3 points as a home game is. …That’s how I’m interpreting it, anyway. And if that’s what he means, then I agree with him wholeheartedly. Now we just have to make it happen that way!
