Sanogo ready to adapt

Arsenal youngster Yaya Sanogo says he’s adapting to life in England and at Arsenal, and feels he’ll be ready when he’s given the chance by Arsene Wenger.

In the clamour for a new striker, the former Auxerre man is often overlooked, and with Lukas Podolski out injured – leaving Olivier Giroud as the only recognised centre-forward – he may be called upon at some point when we really need him.

The 20 year old has already made substitute appearances in the Premier League and Champions League, and is waiting for more from the Arsenal manager.

“I know my time will come. I am patient and I am working hard every day. I tell myself that I’m only 20, I have to keep working to gain experience.

“I have been with Arsenal for two months now and I am adapting well to England and starting to get my bearings.

“In training, there are only great players, so you can only move forward.

“Arsenal is a great club, but even if I am only a small part of it I am a player like all the others. I have two eyes and two feet like them.”

It’s hard to know what his feet are like at this point. Clearly Ligue 2 to Arsenal is a massive step up and the learning curve will be steep.

Let’s hope he’s up for it.

Hope he chips in with a few in the cup. You can tell what he’s like with French U-21’s to know he’s the business. Good luck to him

Lolcat

Really sorry, feel free to down vote due to irrelevance, horrendous comment quality, and comment whoring, but özils chant… I couldn’t get the wizard of Oz theme tune out of my head, if the whole of the emirates was singing that… (albeit a couple of octaves lower) ‘were off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of oz’ (continue with verse and witty pun)

Adam

The thumbs to this speak Ozils’. You are Ozil your mind sir.

GM

Am I the only one who read it as ‘Sanogo ready to adopt’?

the only sam is nelson

Nailed on for a late hat-trick at Sunderland. He is going to be the French Ian Allinson.

henleygooner

Ian Ian Allinson!

Fatgooner

How dare you!

the only sam is nelson

eh?

FG dear boy, are you feeling a little bit less bucolic at the world now we’ve signed Herr Ozil? I do hope so and that you enjoy the sublime football and resulting league title(s) that follow.

jack jack jack

Bucolic? He always seemed like a city boy to me.

Indiano

“Alison, elle est câline et plus coquine” No? Well…

False9PlanB

The French Carlos Vela!

Cedric

He wouldn’t be the first youngster to turn into a great player at Arsenal.
Good luck to him!

Nickgooner84

“I have two eyes and two feet like them.” Well thanks fuck for that Yaya!

But on a serious note, hopefully he can improve with the influence of the players around him.

Sarson Vinegar's frightening sarnie

“I have two eyes two feet like the rest of them”

Safe to say he’s not met Diaby yet then.

Speaking of feet; if I had a cockerel and you had a donkey and your donkey ate the legs of my cockerel what do you have…?

2 feet of my cock in your ass.

I’m really fucking bored. Screw you interlull.

Mongolian Gooner

Blimey, if he feels he needs to reassure himself that he’s not worth any less than the other players; sounds to me like he’s not feeling confident at all. Which is understandable, he must be in a bit of a phase where he just realizes the level he need to be at to be able to contribute to the team. Let’s hope Giroud stays fit and in form so that Yaya can adapt quietly and steadily. Maybe a few COC appearances or a dead-rubby CL game eh?

Mongolian Gooner

hmmm I wonder what people disagree with here?

KoyaGun

Don’t waste your time wondering mate, just say what you havta. I’m assuming you did not type the comment just to see how popular it becomes…….

Redondante

He’s a 20 year-old kid who’s just gone from playing in Ligue 2 to training under Arsène Wenger, with Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere, at a club that’s just signed Mesut Özil. I think we can give him a minute to catch his breath.

Exiledgooner

It would be nice if a certain Danish ‘striker’ adopted his attitude. Personally I find it refreshing to see such humility and patience from a young footballer. The glitz of London and Arsenal could easily go to his head, so it’s reassuring to see he’s willing to put the work in.

killahh

I agree with everything! I don’t see any reason to disagree with the comment.

AFCEdwards

There won’t be a dead rubber CL game with out group

Gutbukkit Deffrolla

After we’ve won the first four games?

Heisenburg

Guys I just realised something while playing Fifa. Wenger went out and bought players similar to our youngsters in the hope that they’ll learn.
Ozil- left footed, great passer and dribbler would be a great teacher to Jack and Zelelam.
Flamini- aggressive, all energy, good tackler a teacher for Ramsey.
Santi Cazorla- can use both feet, great dribbler, powerful shot basically the Ox’s teacher
Giroud- strong, tall an animal a teacher for Yaya Sangogo.

KenyanGunner

But you can’t teach handsome… Or can you now?

jack jack jack
killahh

what’s the problem with this?

not a proffesional footballer

I hope SANOGOAL will be his nickname, I have hopes for 20 year olds and I love seeing them play and develop, it’s like watching your peers become good and you know you support them from the start

Ed

On the other hand, Sanogoal ends in ‘no goal’, so perhaps not the best nickname for a striker? (or any player)

COYG

Yaya Gogoalgoal

idk

We should convert him into a goalkeeper then

Dass

Winterburn made it at Arsenal despite only having one foot.

Goon

Yaya yae coco jambo

He’ll do well.

Stan

put me up – put me down – kick the ball over the line…

A Canadian Gooner

In just a few years Koscielny went from this position of stepping up from league 2, to arguably one of the best CBs in the league. Hopefully Sanogo can adapt to the EPL in a similar fashion.

Askar

There is no argument there, Koscielny is the best in the league.

owl

we signed Koscielny from ligue 1

Gutbukkit Deffrolla

In the 2008-09 season he was playing in Ligue 2. Just a few years.

Heroldgoon

Yaya sanogo he has two feet and two eyes
yaya sanogooooooooo!!!! he has two feet and two eyes!

MJB

Nervous but positive. Good for him. I’m sure he’ll get better but hope he doesn’t end up like Digby.

The Truth.

What a curious statement. Yaya bears no resemblance, either a a player or a human, to Fraser Digby.

saif gooner

He need to improve his positioning and ball control but I don’t know about his finishing he don’t get a chance in front of the goal

sol (not campbell) eid

The cup games are there for his taking, let’s hope he’s up for the challenge.

Chris

The club’s already got a reputation for developing French players who aren’t long out of the lower French leagues. Koscienly, as someone else said, is one. Giroud is another. Jenkinson’s not French but he’s an English copy of that trend.

Youth talent spotting is one of Wenger’s strengths. Let’s give Sanogo some time. It’s not his fault that we need more from him at this stage than we can deservedly expect from him.

Jimmy Saville

A valid point but I disagree with your mentioning of Giroud- He top scored in the french league the season before we bought him. I wouldn’t say be developed him per se, but adapted him. Agreed on other accounts though.

Babmbamahbumbo!

He wasen’t too hot when I saw him play, the boy will have to wait.
I sure hope Santos will come back. I kinda miss him and all the gays.

Zm87

Give the kid a break guys he will smash them in the we all will be singing his name!!! SANAGOAL!!!!!

Greg

Are we all forgetting another French gentleman that also came from League 2 and is now arguably our best CB…

Comedian

With Sanogo i would like Akpom to be given a chance too. Seen both of them in action only a few times but Akpom has really impressed.

D

Akpom isn’t French. Criminal that he hasn’t been given a chance in the 1st team, considering his pre-season form, the fact that we have a shortage of strikers and he’s from the academy. But oh yeah I forgot, he’s not French.

Bonjour

Don’t perpetrate the stupid fucking Alan Pardew narrative that we only develop French players. Remember when we signed the 6 English/Welsh internationals at the beginning of the year? In fact the mix of nationalities in our squad is probably in line with the demographics in London.

The Truth.

“the mix of nationalities in our squad is probably in line with the demographics in London”.

Please name the players of Indian, Pakistani and Kosovan heritage in our squad.

Corona X

At this point, the only thing we, as fans, can do is to get behind the team, behind each and every Arsenal player. If they put on our shirt, we’ll make sure to back them all the way. Perhaps more so than anyone else; Sanogo. This kid has received so much stick everywhere already – it’d be enough to break anyone’s confidence. And so unfairly: it’s not his fault we got him on a free. Glad to hear the kid being level-headed, and speaking sense – now it’s up to us to show him the support he must strive to… Read more »

WengersNoseHair

He has the right attitude to succeed. Keep him far away from Bendtner.

Corona X

PS. I didn’t mention Bendtner. I’d rather not. But if it comes to it, if even HE puts on the shirt, I’ll sing my lungs out to make him score.

Much rather be there to sing him off though.

ThaatArsenalGuy

Koscielny had a journey from ligue 2 to best cb I’m the premiership (albeit a longer journey). Give him time to get mind and body ready to fuck
Some shit up

blobguy

we signed Koscielny from Lorient who played in Ligue 1 that season (albeit as freshly promoted), but I get what you guys are saying.

the boy’s gonna be alright

CADGooner

According to the Daily Mirror , Wenger has been given the green light to bring a mega-signing to the Emirates in January . It should also be noted that he (Wenger ) is keen to bring in a world class centre-forward.
Who should he sign? I would absolutely love Reus.

Gutbukkit Deffrolla

No, no. September to December is for football, not transfers. Ask us this again at Christmas 🙂

Boogiegooner

Chuba Akpom and Yaya Sanogo pairing up in the COC should be interesting.

The COC is ours this year!!

Rectum Spectrum

He’s a big strong lad, could be a 20 year old benteke, just waiting to develop…

Dial square

Two left feet in Bendtners case!!!

WengersNoseHair

Fellow Gooners, I have found the solution to our striker problems. Have a look at this:
1. Giroud
2. Podolski
3. Walcott
4. Sanogo
5. A 4-6-0 formation, i.e. no striker.
6. Fabianski
7. Bendtner

This pretty much ensures TGSTEL never has to play for us again.
Please fax this to Wenger ASAP.

Oh Mesut Ozil…the troooooophies are caaaaaaaalling,
It’s you must staaaaaay, and Bendtner gooooooo….

Adam

my is that the time?

heihaci

Ozil is going from playing with Ronaldo to Sanogo(if Giroud gets injured)
I have no problem with Sanogo but we could have done with a quality striker. Hopefully Podolski/Walcott and even the great Dane can fill in when Giroud is injured/rested until January

arsesicky

Re the comments saying akpomb should be in the first team: as great as arsene is at seeing talent, we also have experience over-hyping the youngsters and putting unrealistic expectations on their shoulders. Also over paying and risking over inflated egos a la b52.

dexterbear

watching his early games for us he reminded me of adebayor when he first arrived.

WengersNoseHair

Don’t jinx the poor boy.

Richie Waweru

Good luck Yaya. Just stay confident and learn your game. I just wish we had Dennis Bergkamp in the coaching setup.

Lockednloaded

the kid hasn’t been on the pitch for ninety mins total and people are already bashing him

Joey Sixpack

Nice Arsecast this week, blogs 🙂 BTW, what did you smoke before that crazy outtake? Lol

eleanor

If Giroud gets injured, I’d expect Theo up front to be our first option. Then if Theo gets injured we adopt ‘The Barcelona Variant’: Özil, Rosicky, Cazorla, Ramsey, Wilshere, Flamini. (Now who wouldn’t want to see that one day?) Only after that do we look to inject Sanogo, Park, or TGSTEL. (Even Gnabry is a realistic option.) But if Sanogo does get the nod, you can guarantee he’ll be ready. Wenger has a (cautious) history of not introducing players too early to situations that could wreck their confidence. And all the while Arteta, Ox, Diaby, and Podolski et al will… Read more »

WengersNoseHair

I don’t know about over-dramatised. Wouldn’t we prefer Walcott at RW? He’s not as good as he imagines at CF, but he can still do a good job, no doubt. But if he does go to CF it means we have to re-shuffle the midfield a bit, the disadvantage is that whoever plays at RW, with Chambo out, will probably not be used to playing there, especially with our system of playing. Would you play Ryo? I’m not sure he’s ready yet. There’s also the fact that currently, with Podolski out, Giroud is comfortably our best striker. So, no, I… Read more »

I would like to say something from up on our high Ozil horse. Coleman says he didnt play Bale to disrupt their relationship with Ozil’s (RM- would rather mention Ozils’ team than…….) former team. HAHAHAHAHA. Wales’ most important must win game for the next two years, and they rest the player that flew back to train with the team after just three keepy ups in Spain. What does that say about the ape? What does that say about loyalty or patrimony? And the tenner it took for Coleman to keep keep on the bench from Real. More importantly I can… Read more »

Why is there an advert for afb man united below my reply box and why is Tony Adams still talking shite? Random but annoying.
