Bellerin joins Watford on loan

Young defender Hector Bellerin has joined Watford on loan. In a statement on their official site, the Hornets announced the deal which runs until January 2014.

If successful he could well be a candidate to extend his spell until the end of the season.

The Spanish right back has caught the eye and is highly-rated at the club. With Bacary Sagna no closer to signing a new deal, Bellerin has the chance to show Arsene Wenger he could help fill the gap in the squad if the Frenchman does leave next summer.

Good luck to him.

No Sagna, No Steel.

Bacary Sagna

I aint leavin.

masterofthegoonaverse

You better not!

nick

Kerrea Gilbert has surely earned his stripes by now

Kai

He now plays for Maidenhead United in Conference South league! How strange. He didn’t look that bad a player.

mohamedaziz

Show sagna some respect tor his loyalty give him a new contract and a rise in take home pay dont disturb the back four

Harsh

sagna is currently one of the best right backs in the world, wenger obviously values him very highly and with jeckinson still developing there hardly seems a reason for wengerto let sagna go, i think we have got to start considering the fact that maybe, for whatever reason, there is some sort of reluctance on part of sagna on signing a new contract.

It Is What It Is - #1 Dullard

As a matter of principle, I feel AW will commit before asking TR7 and Bac to sign their last major contracts.

It only seems fair, as a new manager may not want them.

DL Gooner

Yeah what manager would want a pair of legends like that in their team?

Jack's Right Foot

Very good luck to him, I’ve got a feeling about this one…

killahh

The situation is getting ridiculous, we should get Bac to sign for at least two years. He’s our most constant player and a beast.

TexasGooner6

Agreed. Bacary for two more years at a nice rate. Gives us solidarity at the back and Jenks and Bellerin can grow into the position.

Max

Sagna is a warrior. I’m sure the club want him to stay and so does he now that we’re finally competing.

Layne

How’s Ignasi Miquel doing at Leicester City?

peteyb

Sagna certainly deserves a new deal. He was very convincing as cover for centre back too. Without meaning to be overly contentious I think in a totally hypothetical either/or situation I’d have him and let TV5 go…. though I really hope he proves his worth before the summer.

samba

I would rather to have both Bac the Warrior and TV5 stay. We need him both. I wish TV5 will come back with his top performance.

Harish P

Nice to know what we’d give him, but it would be nicer to know what he actually wants.

That aside, I can’t wait to see this kid become the star he looks to be. I really hope Jenkinson steps up some more as well. They theoretically are gonna be key for us in the next decade.

arsepedant

Jenks is a good year to two years away from being a star right back. Extend Bac for two years so Jenks can grow into it, and it’ll be a perfectly smooth transition. By then, Bellerin should be good enough to be Jenks’ understudy for a while. If we can just get Bac to sign, we’re set at right back for a good decade.

TXgooner, where in Texas are you located? I’m in Houston, can rarely find pubs showing the games, any suggestions?

realseriousgooner

Its been reported before that Sagna may want to end career in France. Maybe there is truth in it. Hope not, he’s been splendid this season.

useroz

Hope bellerin is an exception… Not many of our kids have worked out on loan in the Championship, and League foR that matter.

Malz

Bac is probably PSG bound. No chance we havent offered him a new deal yet. Surprised so many here believes is about “come om, give him a contract”. Its way beyond that at this stage.

I think Wenger should abolish “1 year contracts for players over 30”. Seriously. Losing Sagna would be horrid.

santori

Hi hopes for this chap. absolutely the right thing to do.

Think he may be a useful alternative to Jenkinson as pretender to the throne.

Other player that needs to go out on loan is Sanogo when he is fit.
