Bendtner set to miss ‘weeks’ with ankle injury

Poor Nick can’t catch a break. He comes on, scores a goal, and doesn’t even get to enjoy being the hero because he injured himself in the process.

The Dane was replaced straight away, and as you can see from the Tweet above is set for spell on the sidelines when he’d done enough to force his way further into the manager’s thinking.

It’s also a shame for us because Lukas Podolski’s performance didn’t suggest he was the man to replace Giroud when the HFB needs a rest, and will surely only increase the pressure on the boss to be active in the January window.

Fuckkk this shit.

thecookiedude

Ahhhhh mick bendtner mick bendtner. The greatest strikerrrrrrrrr that ever livvvvvvvvvved

Sajit

This is a real pity because he can be a useful asset against some of the “lesser” teams. And when Giroud needed a breather.

Twig

Lesser teams? Bendtner has scored against Barca. Giroud hasn’t even scored against Everton.

Heroldgoon

One word.

BVB

eternalflamini

You’re right – Bayern are rubbish.

Gus

Thanks a lot nick,, on your bike now mate,, hull/palace will have u now,,

We need a top quality striker mr wenger, pato/lorente would be fine maybe even benteke at 15millions

Also should’ve put gnabry on earlier to replace theo walshott

Gus

The game was won by sir nick. Theo got a late consolation for himself the donkey

Heroldgoon

It’s perfectly okay to critisize a player but once you put in abit of abuse it makes you look like you have it in for player.

So here goes, you don’t like walcott that much now do ya?

muchadoaboutnot

These comments are the hallmarks of a drunken hangover. Wish you a speedy recovery dude to spare us further comments like this.

arsenalista

walcott’s scored a quite a few since coming back.

Dunbar

Happy new year Gus.

not that handsome french bloke

Christ, not even 3 points and a new year is good enough for Gus

Heroldgoon

i think Wengers job is under threat here. What proper reasoning!

Gus

Gnabry will be a better player then theo,he just needs some game time,

Gus

I don’t dislike theo , just don’t rate him as highly as some, he lacks skill,,and still can’t hit a ball ala cazorla, poldi I’d reckon tv5 has a better shot, and yes I know he was top scorer but he just ain’t got it 4 me

Heroldgoon

Well theo just nutmegged a cardiff left back today remember?? pure skill!

Anyhoo
It’sWell documented that Theo isn’t exactly technically blessed, leave that to the rosickys, ozils and cazorlas but this Theo has grown into a wonderful finisher and real speedy threat on the wing. you can’t have it all. Gnabrys time will come but untill then i give Theo Walcott ladies and gentlemen!!

RobM

Gus, you strike me as the kind of person that if your house caught fire and Theo turned up and used his super pace to race inside and rescue you, your loved ones, your pets and your one irreplaceable item, you’d do nothing but bitch and moan because he didn’t take your letters off the side and post them for you while he was at it.

Gus

Rob u donkey

Xanthias

Bendtner was a decent cover. This summer, we could have gone for a top quality striker. But, who better than Bendtner can we find in January that is not cup-tied and that Wenger is willing to splash money on?

Plus: would you offer Bendtner an extension of his contract, if he accepts to be 2nd or 3rd striker? Most of his problems were of mentality. If he’s overcome them, I can’t see why not.

Hurensohn

How about rather than ‘Gmable’ on another Sanogo or ‘hope’ the B52 can step up, let’s buy a proven PL goalscorer and win this bastard league. It’s there for the taking this season. Get Bac resigned too.

Gööner

i hope you mean re-signed

RobM

I was wondering that myself. It could be interesting to see about keeping him. He always was a potentially talented striker with an ego problem. Now he’s prepared to dig in and work had on refining his talent he could be a decent member of the squad.

Jamie

Podolski and Walcott should see us alright, assuming Arsene isn’t going to buy anyone.

Heroldgoon

Take all the time you need Bendtner, get that beautiful ankle back in good condition. The unlikeliest of heroes today.

@hyllandinho

Looked to me like the ‘keeper landed on his ankle. My useless commentator was talking about it being a calf muscle problem, they’re clueless! USE YOUR FUCKING EYES

AJ

The nbcsn(us) postgame show for the chelsea sh match had some prick saying he injured it during the celebration. I was like wtf???? this guy @JamesTylerESPN if anyone has a twitter acct and wants to set the record straight.

Heroldgoon

He was already beaten. the fuck was he rolling on nicks ankle for? fucking time wasting goalie!

MERTESCIELNY

on an unrelated note, why on earth was sagna anywhere near that free-kick in the first half? I mean i love him and he’s a world class right back but when you have podolski and santi (dare i say even Theo) on the pitch, why would we let him take it? thank goodness it ended up meaning nothing! 😀

@hyllandinho

It wasn’t “name outta the hat” random stuff, there must be a reason. Maybe he spends ages in training practicing and deserves a chance in a game? DB10 used to hit the wall from freekicks a lot, too!

Bendtner's ego

Duh! He’s in contract negotiations. 🙂

Piece of shit

Really unfortunate. I thought he would have started over Podolski today…come back soon our Danish Thor!

Mikolaj

So gutted. Nicklas played extremely well upfront, he tried hard again and I would love to give him to chance to prove he’s good enough.

Well done today Nicklas! Soon recovery!

Comedian

We got Yaya Sanogo.

Comedian

sorry that gunnerblog song just popped-up.

Arigoon

I think Bendtner was just worried about TGSTEL’s goals/minutes played stats.

Ok, you don’t joke about injuries, shame on me!

Speedy recovery Nicky boy!!!

Bring in the younglings

That’s your cue, Yaya.

vbk

Get well soon Nick..

Bendtner's ego

The only thing that I’d like Poldi to work on is his defensive pressure. We miss that work rate without Giroud.

As for Bendtner vs. Poldolski, it’s a lot easier to come on ~70 minute and get a goal. Cardiff worked very hard on their defensive shape for the first part of the match.

We didn’t start to create a good number of chances till later in the match when they tired out.

Parisian Weetabix

Nah, for me Bendtner can do things that Podolski can’t do – things this team relies on to function cohesively – due to his size and strength. Add to that Podolski simply didn’t close down anywhere near well enough. The first hour showed us just how important Giroud is to this team. Then the final half-hour showed that Bendtner honestly isn’t that bad. At all. In fact he’s quite good. Seriously, he showcased a serious amount of ability today. There was his hold-up play, but he also played a couple of decent through balls behind the midfield into the box.… Read more »

Twig

And he made a top, top block when we were defending our 1-0 lead against Newcastle 😀

davi

In fact I’d say there are things Bendtner does better than Giroud. He’s much better at the simple stuff, for example. He’s better at keeping long balls alive either with his head or by bringing the ball down, and is very good at dropping into space and playing simple-looking but key passes. He made one for Walcott in the game. I also think he’s a marginally better finisher. Giroud is still the man at the moment because he works his socks off and takes the hits more so than Bendtner, and he’s great at defending corners. And while Nicklas is… Read more »

Too Drunk To Be Offside

Bendtner vs Poldi is not even a contest. Remember Poldi against West Ham, alone turned the game for us, his over all contribution was brilliant 1 (or was it 2) assist(s), and a goal. Yes he struggled today as the lone striker which to be honest is not his chief position. His overall contribution when played right is way beyond what Bendter can provide. Though that is not to take any of the congratulations away from Bendtner who was immense today in getting the goal.

kicking coconuts

I think he did well coming on and played better than poldi as our front man. And for scoring that all important goal, he can have his title of TGSTEL… Just for today.

Strevs

Bendtner made a difference immediately with his hold up play. Thought he was excellent. Poor fella, everybody deserves a 2nd (7th?) chance… Gotta say, his attitude has been excellent.
Difference today from years gone by is, we didn’t go a goal down to the opposing teams first shot on goal – our defence is excellent and gives a platform to go out and win a game.

Mental Strength

Well hopefully this will make Wenger buy a much needed striker.

Özil Gummidge

To put a positive spin on it, the injuries and Podolski’s performance up front make it less likely that Arsene will be perverse and not sign a striker.

Lord Nicki B

Im sorry HFB you were just wrong, dont think Poldi and Theo are enough cover for you.

Theo had a good game, but he’s not an out and out ST

davi

Not on his own. Theo and Podolski together could work?

roberto

Obvoiusly we needed a striker anyway now we definately do even if giroud can play next match but thing is we know wenger will do the opposite! I would sign benteke clearly he will come and do it quick not on last 3 days or martinez or llorente no loan bullshit unless its only option!!

Igor Stepanov's career

Benteke, when was the last time he actually scored?

“Michael Ricketts” syndrome

特别的人

In my opinion, bendtner has always shown he has the hunger for scoring every time he has appeared, but watching fellow gooners mock him and berate him for past performances when we shouldnt, it really hurts… and in other news, I absolutely have no respect for cardiff after watching this game. Deliberate time wasting, long balls to fucking nowhere, useless tackles to lure the gunners into tackling back and possibly getting cards, let them get relegated again, thank god we played them twice already.

Swedegunner

“Arsenal injury news” must be your most frequently used tag on this site?

Feel sorry for Bendtner, he clearly made a better statement than Podolski to start against Sp*rs

Özil Gummidge

Also, what is it with the media and “unlikely source” when Bendtner scores? His attitude has held him back and he may or may not have had the talent to cut it at the top, but he is no Jason Lee.

It’s like when a hundred autumn articles and a thousand pundit comments on Flamini called him “unsung”.

Rejected

Poor Nic! Get all the rest you need mate

ringo xiii

“Weeks?”

“Saul Weeks. He’s the controller, Frank”

Gooner Gary

Great reference Ringo!

Beagleboy

I wish our big Dane a speedy recovery!

Aamir

Maybe this will force Arsene into making a signing but I genuinely feel sorry for Bendtner. He’s not as bad as people say he is, he’s got a decent goal scoring record, he has the talent. Just mentally and with injuries he was unlucky. He is still young enough to fulfill his potential (if Van Cunt could do it at age 28).

Bendtner was a decent option against lesser opposition.with Arsene admitting that Giroud needs rest and that Sanogo isn’t ready and both Walcott and Podolski are better out wide… We definitely need to buy someone now

Petit's Handbag

Lucky swimming speeds up the recovery time, leave the door open!

A N Other

Massive Shame.. I hope Giroud is back for spurs game this weekend.

Crispy

My worry is Arsene will go down the ‘make do with what we have route’ on the striker front. Be a real shame to be in with a proper shout of the league title for the first time in years and not push the boat out for the final piece………. Assuming what we need is genuinely available in this window.

voldermort

Buy a quality striker, we can win the title don’t buy one and it’s just another season when we could have had we bought the players we all know we needed.
We have been here before. Hopefully we have learnt the lessons.

DaMwiinger

Wenger says Nic wants to stay “at the moment”. Can’t help feeling sorry for the timing of his injury given his intetion to stay. In the meantime, AW may have to employ the 4-4-2 he has been toying with in the last couple of games, with Theo and Poldi as the two upfront

Angolan Girl Who Loves The Gunner

poor nick! get well soon…

duducane

to be honest i have forgiven Bendtner for everything. I kind of support him now and wish him a speedy recovery. Disappointed by Podolski today.

Heisenberg

It is a shame that Bendtner got injured scoring what may well be a very crucial goal in our season.

Roland C Rozario

Arsenal definitely need to get into this ‘winter market’! That’s a fact!
Look at the medics dept! Now Bendter!

sam

Is there any reliable news on how long Giroud is out for? Read somewhere that he could be fit by Saturday, but Wenger’s press reply on transfer plans after the match seems to suggest otherwise

Arsepedant

Latest I heard is that Giroud will be available for Saturday.

Idealist

The late resurgent is so exciting…keeps hold of 80 over minutes breather and poor best striker in the world got himself injured in the process of netting a late winner for us. He must be thinking when he was asked to replace Poldoski…”yes, this is the moment that I can prove to the world that I’m not a scumbag after all…but again, congrats and thank you Mr Dane..at least you we at the right place at the right time to take over Sagna”s effort. Anyways, it is pity to see Olle aka the great Norwegian to take up the helm… Read more »

Jimmy B

To the negative few, back the team we f***** won! Theo’s a legend and the big B deserves a pat on the back for proving so many of us wrong. Get behind the boys, not on their backs

Goon

Walcott seems a lot more comfortable on the ball than last season. I think Gnabry has the potential to become a better player but Walcott has the experience and more importantly he is learning and just like ramsey is.

If bendtner applies the same level of modesty to his character and game, he will easily be a top striker.

Alex

Anyone got a link to arsenes post match interview?

Arsene(al) worshiper

Did anyone saw flamster celeberate NB’s goal? He went crazy.

Gus

Google it u lazy shit

Gary

Wonder if TH14 is available for a short loan………
