Rosicky: We have the maturity to win title

Tomas Rosicky believes Arsenal now have a squad of players experienced enough to sustain a title-challenge highlighting both the acquisition of mature heads and the progress made by the club’s homegrown talent.

Playing down the loss of momentum prior to Christmas, a period during which the Gunners drew with Everton and Chelsea and lost to Manchester City, the 33-year-old midfielder stressed that it was not unusual to experience dips in form.

“It was a bit bumpy when we lost against Manchester City and drew against Everton,” he told Arsenal.com. “But you will always have phases like that in a year so that’s nothing new.

“This team has more experience than it did in the past. We have [Per] Mertesacker, [Mesut] Ozil, who won things in Madrid and the other experienced boys like Mikel [Arteta] and [Mathieu] Flamini.

“Plus the English boys are not kids anymore, they gained experience through the years of playing here so that’s why I think we have the maturity to do it this year.”

Rosicky has been in fine fettle in the Gunners last two outings, deservedly picking up Man of the Match gongs from the club’s supporters for his showings against Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur. A free agent at the end of the season, there’s been much speculation as to whether the long-standing Gunner will sign a new contract.

It’s been suggested that the Czech will automatically qualify for a one-year extension on the proviso he hits a certain number of games this season, something which might explain this morning’s comment on his official Facebook page.

“Just to clear some stuff in the newspaper. I am committed to my time at Arsenal and will commit to a new contract when offered,” Rosicky wrote.

In recent weeks, our tassled-hair midfield dynamo has said he’s open to a new adventure, revealing that he’d quite like a shot at America’s MLS and a possible return to first club Sparta Prague.

Personally, Arseblog News thinks both parties would be silly to part for at least 18 months.

Tomas if you continue your form and continue to push others around you I don’t see why we wouldn’t take the title. But we have to remember that times got “bumpy” because of a horrible fixture list where we played the majority of the top teams all in a couple of weeks. My worry is that the schedule has done it again in the second half of the season. We’ll see if things get “bumpy” again or not. Here’s to hoping

Gooneron

And you Little Mozart deserve a contract…

remember the invincibles

If he plays to his best and stays injury free in the second half of the season he could win us the title himself. I think he is that good

The only olivier is Giroud

I love this man, dare I say more than I love my pets. Scraggly hairi bastards (excuse me I’m high).

Arzik07

Great guy. His love for the club is apparent during every game. Give him a contract and a trophy

emir of emirates

and trophies….

Arzik07

Sorry.. and trophies obviously. I don’t know what I was thinking

If Tomas and Bacary both re-sign for us then The heights pissible for this team will get even dizzier.

特别的人

Yeah, we can aim our piss up to even greater heights straight onto man united, 2p0rs etc too

o2ba

Oops possible lol

Sumeet

We need to compensate for 15 Walcott goals. Who will do it? I don’t think Giroud will contribute too much in this respect. Will Ramsey continue his scoring form? Will Santi and Podolski start to repeat last year’s performance in second half. I am getting a little nervous. Hope we do well.

deano

Fancy a glut of goals from Santi and Poldi mate.

SACKWENGA

I hate Tomas Rosciky– said no one EVER!

oh boy

Clearly you haven’t met that wanker who goes by the name John

Sanjeev

Interesting. So hasn’t been offered yet? Please do so soon. Love this man, and think he can give us something for at least 2 more years. As it is, he has been a key player the last 3 seasons.

Igor Stepanov's career

Not really, due to his injuries.

Has little bursts then gets injured again, hopefully he is over that.

emir of emirates

its great to have a committed player like Tomas in our squad…he helps the team realize we don’t have the win until it is won….new contract…trophies….he should retire in our club honestly…sagna and Thomas contract extensions will be like new signings …,,Forward and Upwards Gonners…

DNeilan

Look, folks, can we please stop this pointless blaming of the fixture list/schedule – it’s not worth it. Any team who is going to realistically/footballisticallly compete will have to cope with it, end of. It’s the same every year and will never change.

Walcott's ex sideburns

You’re forgetting not every team has a roster of players worth $600,000,000 like Man City, we can’t play against 3 grands in 7 days and not expect regressions

Vignesh

I think the quote attributed to him about the contract is not from his official page. Even the photos from that page seem to have photos from other websites.

His management site (ISM) cite this https://www.facebook.com/pages/Tom%C3%A1%C5%A1-Rosick%C3%BD/132809766758469 as the official facebook page.

Rosicky's sprints...

Rosicky and his band of Gooners will lead us 2 the title…I cn see Saga on the drums….

Goontang

This guy deserves a banner up in the emirates, along with that new contract. Get it done gooners.

Rockyroad

People used to take the piss out of me for having Rosicky on my shirt because he was always injured and “lightweight”. Well, they ain’t laughing now!

ghanagunner

yeah yeah. u were right all along everybody else was wrong yay.

Virginia Goon

This guy embodies everything arsenal football club is about. Class, skill, injury prone…..I’ll get my coat. All joking aside, this guy is your favorite Gooners, favorite gooner. Love ya rosicky.

nono

I’m fat now just because of Arsenal performance…wau!!!!

WengersNoseHair

That comment quoted sounds like he hasn’t been offered a contract. Shame on you Wenger…

nono

Please give gnabry a small number 44 is to heavy for him…

Kevlarbe

well Id expect him to take Rosickys number once he has retired with us (allow him going to the mls, thats just daft). I think the potential Rosicky sees in Gnabry is as plain as day

santori

Arsenal lack maturity along with all the other facile media stereotypes from the likes of McNulty on the BBC or the muppets Shaka Hislop, Burley and their Venenzuelan puppet at ESPN or Sky – Arsenal are porous in defense (check out our clean sheets recently?) Arsenal lack depth (One striker short of competitive to City) Giroud can’t score (Same strike rate as Negredo) Arsenal will implode with their fragile psyche (Haven’t done so even after the blip against Chelsea and City recently) Arsenal are on a downward spiral, Spurs are on the up 😉 Arsenal can’t make 5th spot (Pronounced… Read more »

Mate Kiddleton

I love this guy. The passion and commitment he shows every time, especially for a player at 33 is an inspiration to the younger players at the club.

steve

I just love the way he turns and shifts forward with such purpose – advancing the play and sparking the whole team into attack. He commits so few errors too, has amazing vision and has an eye for goal (he used to score much more often as a younger player actually).
Can we put him in a time machine and turn his age back ten years?

Sam

when’s he getting a new contract? He’s so direct, positive and a great influence on how well we play as he never slows things down. We are a better team with Tomas in it. Plus he’s a great mentor for the young players.
Arseblogger saying he’ll move on at the end of the season made me choke on my coffee.
No 7 at the Arsenal – Brady, (swoon) Pires, Rosicky.
