Everton 3-0 Arsenal: player ratings

Another hugely disappointing away day saw Everton deservedly win the game 3-0. I don’t think we can have any complaints about the result.

Here’s how the players rated.

Really poor.. again.

Why AW didn’t change the line up at HT is a mystery.Waits until 3 down.Defies belief and I am an AW believer

Steve Bould: “Arsene, we should take Mikel off and bring on Aaron now.”
Arsene: “Brilliant! Take off Flamini in 25 minutes!”

Dracular

Spot on Blog.. Wish Arsene sees this fair assessment.

ElCapitano

Absolutely love Arsene Wenger, I think he has done a truly outstanding job for Arsenal. I’m just starting to wonder if he has still got what it takes to manage in the Premier League. As a team we’re consistently making the same mistakes season after season, nothing seems to be changing, I honestly thought that when we made the huge summer signing of Ozil it was a sign that the club were adjusting to the new financial climate the modern game finds itself in.. but then to not go out and buy again in January when we honestly did all… Read more »

starting to wonder….!

benvnc

If he does leave Martinez should replace him

Stan The Man

Agree. The panorama of the two dugouts Said it all. Wenger passively in his seat, while Martinez was actively yelling commands to his team from the Line. Even at 3-0 up and Everton was on the counter he ran out to the Line and shouted for Baines to stay back incase Arsenal came back on a break.

Fred

This…

Really hurts my mind….

FuckingFour Timeeeees

non-flying dutchman

6 if you choose to count old Trafford and the Brittania

German Gunner

how is this team 4th? we are a bunch of soft fuckers, take us to buy Everton’s worst player, must say i do not enjoy watching anymore, Wenger would never buy the likes of McCarthy or Coleman, could have had either of them easily, must he insists on buying shite second rate players from France ect.

Bamford13

Yet another shameful performance. Couldn’t be more obvious at this point. Wenger out.

ack ack ack

-0/10: tactical management. get a clue, arsene. the team needed changes at halftime.

German Gunner

We need the whole fucking team changed, soft fuckers

Haydn

Jurgen Klopp?

Kai

It’s not that Wenger does not know how to build a winning team. He is good at building a great first team which plays to a very specific way, whether it be the great counter attacking or the possession based sides of the past, but the problem is there never is a plan B when that tactic doesn’t work. The last 2 seasons, the team has moved away from the possession based football but has struggled to find a consistent identity. You could see how even after all that time out, it looks like Ramsey could be the most important… Read more »

Glocken

You gave Wenger zero,,,, that’s generous.

Lasagna

Sad to see Wenger be so outmanaged by Martinez.

ack ack ack

sad, but not even remotely a surprise. when was the last time your remember thinking, “wenger’s really set up his team smartly to counter _______’s team’s strengths”, etc. this is completely normal. pathetic.

JT

A loss doesn’t mean you’ve been outmanaged. By that logic Wenger outmanaged Martinez in the FA cup

sol

your correct and then martinez went back to the drawing board and outmanaged wenger, it was clear from the first 20mins that his formation was not working and it was clear some players needed to be changed and yet wenger like always had to wait till the 65th min after the damage has been done to do anything

sol

i mean what else needs to be sad, its time we bench some players and let them know they are not bigger than AFC, win the FA cup for wenger and he should just walk away, he has been a great servant and he can still leave with his head up high, but he should not make the mistake of signing a new cntract #wengerout

Alex Oxlade Chamberlain

So done. See you lads next August. Tell me if we get Martinez.

Crouch End Gooner

Nice to see such support when the chips are down.

Also all you Martinez In lot, you do know the guy got a team relegated last season lol?

Jay

What is the point in supporting them when they do this in every big away game? Enough is enough, they talk all they want but when it counts they do fuck all. Embarrasment to the club

Crouch End Gooner

If you are a true supporter you support them even if they get relegated all the way down to league 2.

That’s why we are called ‘supporters’, Christ, the one upside of tough times like this is the fair-weather glory hunter fans f*ck off to someplace else.

Misog

We’ll said mate,he’s flavour of the month

WizardOfOzil

Only if you know fuck all about football.

Toby C

You can criticise what needs criticising and still be a true fan. We support The Arsenal! Not one particular manager or players.

arsenalman66

and he won the fa cup with wigan, arsene is in a similar situation hopefully he can win the fa cup and be able to keep us in champions league spot instead of getting us relegated much the same as wigan and martinez

Dan

Certainly a host of Everton fans would disagree, but Arsenal are a bigger club than the Toffees, but not by much, they have a very respectable history.
Martinez has done a good job there in his first season, it’s seems to be a mutually happy agreement, there’s a nucleus of good team there, so why leave a good thing in exchange for what could very well turn into a disaster.

Arteta's hair

Something bad about Giroud

Alex Oxlade Chamberlain

Something adding to the criticism and adding another player to slag off.

rake

When we play with Giroud we play 10 v 11. He brings almost nothing to the side. He can’t run at defenders, he can’t turn defenders, he can’t win his 1 on 1 duels, he can’t keep the ball, and spends most of the game on his ass with his hands in the hair. fuck sake

Maniac

Any time the ball goes to Giroud he loses it. His ball control is absolutely atrocious and you can even see his teammates trying to avoid passing to him as he will inevitably hand it straight back to the opposition. Sanogo has far more energy and motivation, and I really think we should be starting him with Giroud as a substitute around the 70th minute. It worked wonders against Everton last time round yet we still drag out the same team with tired players who you can see can’t really be bothered.

smeghammer

Tired, they have just had a week off since their last game. I mentioned on the back of the Chelsea debacle that we always seem knackered when we have a break of more than 3 days between a game and yesterdays result seems to support that theory.

benvnc

one could say it’s like playing 10 v 12 as giving the ball to Giroud is basically giving it to the opposition

Fred

agreed.

after all, this squad actually don’t have a real striker anymore.

wengerbot

he offers us absolutely nothing

Big Chief from Antarctica

Harsh on Sanogo.

Per

Shouldn’t we just go for a 0-0 draw away from home against good opposition and try to hit on the counter?

PolishGooner

Yes if Wenger managed to start someone with pace. I’m sure teams are dreading the lightning quick Giroud counter attack. I know it’s getting old to bang on about Giroud but early in the game there was an errand back pass to Howard. ANYBODY slightly faster than Giroud gets to that ball and puts in the back of the net. It was gift wrapped.. for anyone not named Giroud.

Toby C

This the main problem. I feel sure that if we still had Walcott and Ramsey in the team pefrormances and results in this second half of the season wouldn’t have been quite so bad. But injuries, fatigue, suspensions etc are part and parcel of football and it’s the manager’s job to ensure you have a squad with enough depth and quality to compete. Not signing a world-class winger and striker in the summer or January (plus defenders ideally) was negligent if not incompetent. We’re reaping the results of that now.

Loop A Hole

You left out Rosicky mate, not that it’d change anything.

AFC

Wow, couldn’t even remember for a second that he was actually playing.

AFC

Nacho a 3? Seems like he’s always making the wrong runs; horrendous positioning without the ball. Also very poor before the first goal. But the moment, the whole defense, our self-declared backbone of the team, looks very shaky.

Dc

So much for the fabled mental strength, we should just sign a psychiatrist. A total shambles.

I guess what all the pundit’s were saying about us all season were correct

Crouch End Gooner

Nah, even a broken clock is right twice a day.

sanku

i was really hoping we would prove everyone wrong this season. and ManU’s crap season would have been an icing on that cake. Now it seems their cursed bad form has jumped onto us.

David

yikes, the FA cup semi and final (if we get there) are both away from home. How can we be so good at home and so poor on the road. The game is still played on grass right? Get these boys a shrink; no one was battling today.

Wish I Had Charlie George's Hair

Amazed the whole team cracked 30 combined

Mimir

Sorry to nit-pick but you still haven’t fixed the zero rating glitch.

On a side note we folded against a good press again today. No outlets for the passers at the back and they were left to pass it sideways until Everton pressed us back into our defensive third.
Wigan will have the same game plan (They did it against City too) and looking at how obstinately we refuse to learn from our mistakes, they will succeed at it.

Vieira's Telescopic Legs

Yes, unlucky injuries have taken their tole and im not surprised the midfield look low on energy and ideas, but (a) Defensively we are a shambles. What in earth is going on (b) We’ve looked utterly impotent up front for about 3 months….if we bring in a decent forward on loan in jan, when we know theo is out, that’s another 4-6 points and we’re just about hanging on in the title race. Im sorry but this lies with the manager. We can no longer blame it on a tight transfer budget/financial restrictions. Giroud is eeehh, sanogo & bendtner are… Read more »

Is there any manager in a top 4 club in Europe who loses so heavily so often. I love wenger, he changed this club but sadly and I do mean sadly he has to be ushered upstairs or into retirement. Over the past three seasons even the top four is becoming an almighty struggle and one day we wont make it, maybe this year even. we are regressing instead of progressing and if wenger has the control that everyone thinks, he has to evaluate his position. He will not change his tactics when losing and makes substitutions to late, yes… Read more »

Can’t argue really. Rosicky’s rating missing though. But I can imagine

Wow. I just saw the form table on the premier league website. We are sitting comfortably in 16th in points from the last 6 games. One place below Newcastle. Quite the late season title charge.

W.O.P

#wengerout. Clueless, tactically naive and did I mention an embarassment? Please win the cup and leave. Hell please leave even if you don’t. Thanks for the memories 10 years ago. But its time to end the subsequent 10 years of pain.

Mootilated

All the fans who ask the Wenger out brigade who they think could do a better job than Wenger. Question should be who could do any worse at this pointt?

gammhunn

This is actually an interesting question. Personally I am not at all convinced that Wenger signing a new contract for the club is the right way forward. However, a lot of the #wengerout crowd seem to have very little to offer in terms of a) A manager that is available b) One that would be an improvement c) One that could take a club like Arsenal to the next level in the same manner Wenger did. Try to narrow that down and you are left with very few names. Just look at the high profile names that have made abject… Read more »

I think we don’t realise quite how attractive a job the Arsenal job is. Managers would I suspect make themselves available. The money in the coffers is particularly attractive. But a manager who is prepared to buy 3-4 top quality players. And give some of our players clearly defined roles… Cazorla, Wilshere, Chamberlain all need someone who will tell them what their role is going to be. It’s a fantastic job. Their are a dozen managers who would try to do a better job than Wenger by doing something different. New players, flexible tactics, blooded youngsters, medium term planning (longterm… Read more »

I agree, it is not easy to find an established manager who would be able to push Arsenal to the next level. However, how many Arsenal fans can honestly say they had ever heard of Wenger BEFORE he joined Arsenal FC? Maybe the manager we need isn’t someone who has been winning trophies with the big clubs. Then again, I’m not saying an established manager is one we should let pass by unnoticed. While I do agree that Wenger has moved the club to higher grounds financially and provided us with a new stadium, he is the manager and coach… Read more »

Wenger never respond when the team is losing,he is using the same old tactics in every games, big games small games, there is nothing left in him,the team don’t need him anymore. He is putting faith in giroud and sanogo, and the lost games shown us that he is wrong, he is not as good as he was lastime in managing the team,in putting faith on the right player

Martinez and Suarez in. Wenger and Giroud out.

Crispy

Add Baines, Barkley and Lukaku

Clockendrider

Yeah and Pele and Maradona and Messi and Ronaldo. And that God bloke is quite handy.
Honestly………

Hadvar

God retired a while ago I’m afraid. I was at his testimonial in 2006 against Ajax.

Toby C

I think that you’re missing the point that we could have had Suarez and Baines and others if we’d been prepared to pay enough. Even if we’d just made a sensible offer for Suarez, say, £50m, it would have been accepted and I think we’d have won the league by now.

bitchplease

Pissed off!! Working 16 hrs shift so I can pay my cable in order to watch Arsenal games but boy! No reward from my team, glad I was working and making money than watching these overpaid donkeys today!

Fred

sorry to hear that…

🙁

Gargoyle

Can’t you just enable us to rate Wenger? It shouldn’t really take much work and it will allow us to actually express how we feel about the manager after each game without pointing fingers at each other?

Gargoyle

And at the end of the season we can get the averages and see how we felt the team did?! Or are you really just too scared that Arsene will get 0/10?

Edu

Disappointing indeed, nothing is working for us

Tom

How much ever we try to believe Wenger is a great manager, this season has proved that there were tactical mismatches in the big games we played. Look at the width we gave to the Everton wingers. I don’t know why Wenger learns from mistakes. Is it a hint for the club to look at other options at the end of the season?

Anyway, the scene would be perfect for Wenger to step down in May just after winning the FA Cup! I hope we win it!

TazzyBalboa

Our away form against the better teams in the league has been abysmal this season. I’m not even going to pretend I have the technical knowledge to say what we could do better but something has to change. Sure the players are tired but we seem have huge gaps all over the pitch which the better teams seem to be exploiting. I really feel for Arteta, like blogs said in the article seems time is catching up with him. Anyway we REALLY need to put these garbage few months behind us and focus on next week’s semi-final and get a… Read more »

That was shocking… City, Chelsea and Liverpool away; in those matches we were underdogs. A loss wasn’t unexpected, but to lose by that amount was awful. And now we go and bomb out against Everton of all teams. They aren’t bad by any means, but this was a match that we really, truly should have won. This actually has me worried for the tie against Wigan this weekend, especially with Flamini suspended. Here’s hoping Rambo and Chambo are both raring to go, we won’t have a chance against Wigan if nothing changes. Let’s not forget, they beat City at home,… Read more »

The most worrying feature of this slump in form is that the individual looking the most affected is AW himself. I have always backed him, never been a member of the seemingly large group of supporters baying for his departure, but if he is unable to put energy, drive and purpose back into this team now, is he going to be the right man to do it in the summer? The team needs a lift, and I am hoping against hope that lift will come through FA cup success. I get the feeling that we’ll need a huge slice of… Read more »

Clockendrider

Not sure the group baying for Wenger out is particularly large. They seem to have an inordinately prominent media voice. But fortunately are not prominent inside the ground despite all the directional microphones Sky use to make it sound like a small group booing is actually the entire ground……,

Paul

I think I’m depressed.

Hi-brid

I don’t even have the energy to rail against this anymore.

2014-2015 = 2003-2004

Cunt/10: Liverpool owner yank cigarsucking Henry for pissing all over the law of England and “choosing to ignore” the buy-out clause in Luis Suarez’ contract.

With Luis Suarez, 2013-2014 really would’ve equalled 2003-2004. Without him, we are staring at a GBP100mm summer spending spree just to get back into the Champions League.

Swedegunner

why didn’t that become more of a thing? I mean like a FA/police investigation and media coverage? Why didn’t we make more fuzz? It was just like “Liverpool owner breaks both football and regular laws – keep calm and carry on”. They should be prohibited from buying players like Barca or something

Harsh

Because we broke the tapping up rule by finding out about the clause from Suarez’s agent. If we made it a legal case, we would’ve lost and quite likely have been in trouble for tapping up. Liverpool chose to ignore the clause knowing we wouldn’t pursue it legally and told Suarez he had to stay. It’s like finding stolen items in your neighbors house when burgling it yourself – you know it, they know it, but you can’t do anything about it.

Amusa

One of the only fighters in our team.
The Fucking warrior, Bacary Sagna is going to leave at the end of the season.
I hope someone pays him what he deserves.
This team doesn’t deserve Sagna.
The man dealt with Baines and one other Cunt the whole game, all alone. Maybe the reason he is leaving is that he is fed up of this Shit.

Stone

Absolutely agree, apart from the mistake for the third goal, Sagna was our best player by a country mile, fought the whole time when the rest of the team looked like they had given up. I can’t blame Sagna if he wants to leave but we need this guy.

Crouch End Gooner

I just wish he wouldn’t keep sending in pointless crosses into the box when Giroud is marked by like 5 players, try something else for god’s sake.

Stone

As much as we need a new striker this summer, we equally much need a new DM. I love the guy and he has had some good games this season but we are not going to win the league with Arteta in there.

Trapped in Wenger's basement

Nacho monreal = andre santos in disguise?
Arteta = f*cking useless
giroud = worse than awful

There was no movement whatsoever and the only player our centre backs could pass the ball into was arteta, who then ofcourse passes it wide…

CescuallyFrustrated

Valiant performance from Sagna today, what a soldier he is. A shame about the third goal though. Yet, I dont blame him for it. For the past few games I find it ashtonshing how we have to rely on Sagna on the right hand side. He’s completely isolated. I know we dont have Walcott, but come on Wenger, stop acting like we haven’t got a Gnabry or Chamberlain to utilize.

Halfman Halfhotdog

Vermaelen said the other day the players were desperate for Wenger to stay. On this evidence I’d say more than a few want him out.

Top Gun

I think the criticism Giroud is getting is absolutely absurd. Like yeah, we should have a better striker, who could do something on his own, but why he is getting all the slack, when our midfield, with Arteta in it, can’t even pass the ball forward. Honestly I think that Arteta is the one who should be getting the slack, he is ridiculously slow, defensively doesn’t offer almost anything, and he is so fucking immobile it is nauseating. It pisses me off to no end seeing him give the ball to the wing, and there is a super lovely pocket… Read more »

Arteta is the new Denilson.

So many goals this season have been when our supposed DM Arteta hasn’t tracked the runner into the box who has simple tap in for a goal.

Gonna go through the team and decide if they have a future at Arsenal or not Szczesny – He’s alright but if we wanna be ambitious and reach the likes of Bayern we could do with a better keeper, but he’s young and hes good enough Sagna – Wants to leave, is going to leave, Serge Aurier replacement. well, that doesn´t excuse such a Performance i think. and there must be a reason we have such an amount of injuries to key Players. read an article on gunnerholic which has a good point

Gunnersgooner

Another kick in the teeth but hey. Could an earlier change avoided a defeat? what a bummer of a day 🙁

mt

I’m really starting to think Wenger isn’t the right man for this job anymore. This awful away performances are not a coincidences. He didn’t change anything, same mistakes, same players. Why are cazorla, Arteta and Podolski in the starting lineup. Today we needed physical presence and with Arteta and cazorla we won’t get it. And I won’t talk about Poldi’s attitude. I Still think Ox and maybe kallstrom should start. But I’m glad Rambo is back. He immediately showed what we lack. Hope he will be back at his best soon. Again where was support for Giroud. Again i don’t… Read more »

Dial square

What the fuck made us think that against a hard working team like Everton we could just turn up and stroll around and come away with three points?? We have seen this sort of performance too many times now, and I don’t care what anyone say’s that’s down to the manager, fourth place or not…it’s time to go.

Wenger's Glasses

Can’t help but feel bad for Mikel. I love that guy. He’s a very talented & classy midfielder, but he’s not a natural DM (breaking news)! And now like blog said, time is catching up with him. He left a hole in our attacking movement & also in our defence.

But this repetitive crash is not an individual’s fault, it’s a team effort.

& I think, if we keep playing a system that doesn’t suits the types of players we got, naturally we’re going to get exposed from time to time.

Oh well.. Whatever.
