Debuchy eyeing Boxing Day return

Mathieu Debuchy says he’s hoping to be fit for Arsenal’s clash with Queens Park Rangers on Boxing Day as he closes in on full fitness.

The French international has missed 15 games since suffering ligament damage to his ankle against Manchester City in mid-September but is expecting to return to first team training next week.

Giving an update on his injury to L’Equipe, the 29-year-old revealed:

“I think I’ll resume group training next week. I’ve been sidelined for ten weeks, but it should go pretty fast from now on.

“The aim is to be fit for the end of the year with a view to playing on Boxing Day, or even a little before.”

Calum Chambers and Hector Bellerin have been covered for Debuchy in his absence, the former proving himself every bit as versatile as Arsene Wenger suggested and the latter excelling against Hull City.

Ironically, it’s now the left hand side of defence that is looking short on numbers with both Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs doubts for the visit of Southampton. An update on their respective situations is expected tomorrow.

MATTTTT Debuchy on the right-hand-side.

ThaatArsenalGuy

Please say that this is actually sung at matches. Haven’t heard it this season.. Actually he hasn’t been tit when I’ve been

remember the invincibles

‘even a little before’, what is with these french blokes? don’t they know about our rule? you don’t come back early from injury. pfft. bloody rebels.

The Ghost of Paul Robinson

Don’t worry, Diaby remembers the rule.

Maddolove

Matt will be back in two weeks
Arsene said so last week
Ospina too will be coming back soon.

The German and his medical crew are wining the battle but nit the injury war

Ash

Get Well Soon Debuchy
it’s about team

Man Manny

Being French, I’ll go for “a little before” as they seem to come back earlier than expected.
As for the left backs, something tells me we have nothing to fear. They will be fit.

Policeman's Bangers 'N' Mash

Can we just scrap everything and start the season again?

Man Manny

In about six months, you will get your wish.

wonder if we have a leftback youngstar, talented like Bellarin that can cover for Kieran/Nancho, shoukd they not be fit for Southampton?……i think he should be ok in that eventuality, since we now have the benefit and experience of per/koscielny partnership available to guide him, although he will have to be mindful of the pace of southampton on that flank!

Alexstratz

That’s why Verm is the perfect sub because he can play CB and LB. Too bad he’s injured since the start of the season. Wait, he isn’t ours anymore. Lol Barca.

santori

More great news.

Arteta has changed his nationality to French.

(It hasn’t helped Diaby though)

Areas for concern at the moment :

LB. Both Monreal and Gibbs carrying knocks. Flamini not available to cover. Likely scenario Chambers to fill with Bellerin at RB. Not ideal.

DM. Arteta carrying knock. Only Flamini to cover. He’s done a fantastic job but we are lacking depth. Maybe Calum but he is too inexperience at the moment. Diaby is an obvious choice but where he? Coquelin is loaned out.

Hope Arteta and Monreal mend quickly.

I don’t want to keep repeating the same thing, but these fucking injuries are really ridiculous. Now Gibbs, Monreal, and Oxlade. Based on the past they will be out for a while.RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!

Arsenalman29

I am happy Debuchy is returning soon. And what Excites me, is to see what will happen with Chambers then, i think Chambers will someday make a great DM for us, i would like Wenger to give him a few games in the middle, just to see how he plays. I think he would be just as good as Arteta or Flamini, even now at his age. I hope Wenger will sign a DM in January, and slowly break Chambers into the DM role.

SDB

too bad we loaned coquelin out – he put in a good shift as left back against southampton

Angry goon

Ffs whose next on the sick table?!

Toni

ION where did the tactics column go? I liked the insight.
