King Henry hails Arsenal’s Prince Alexis

Thierry Henry has heaped praise on Alexis Sanchez, describing the Chilean as the player all Arsenal fans have been waiting for.

The 26-year-old has scored 18 goals in 30 appearances since completing his £32 million move from Barcelona in July, but it’s his overall game that has impressed Arsenal’s record goal scorer.

Speaking in glowing terms ahead of the Gunners trip to Manchester City on Sunday – a match that will see Henry officially begin his new role as a Sky Sports pundit – the Frenchman noted:

“Arsenal were looking for a player to deliver on a daily basis and they have found one. He is brilliant. He can read the game incredibly, as you saw with the goal on Sunday, and his work-rate is fantastic.

“He scores goals and doesn’t need a lot of opportunities to put the ball in the net. That is very important. He is a very, very good player and you know that if he is on tune, then Arsenal have a lot of chances to win the game.

“I am trying to think if there has been a better signing in the last five or six years. It is still early days but so far it is very good. He is doing extremely well. He is going to score goals but it is his all-round game that I am so impressed with. That has no price.

“Arsenal fans have been waiting to have a player like that. Finally they have one. He struggled at the beginning, like everybody, but when he got into a rhythm, you can see the quality. We should all be happy with him. He is going to be a great player for many years.”

Henry isn’t the only ‘Invincible’ impressed by the impact and work rate of Sanchez. Sol Campbell reckons the summer signing would have been a perfect fit for Arsene Wenger’s 49ers.

Speaking to The Gooner fanzine, the former England international said:

“He is one of the players that in my time would have added so much to any team I played in at Arsenal. He could have fitted into the Invincibles for sure. He could have played for the Invincibles – he would be welcomed with open arms during the Invincible era.

“His work ethic is fantastic, along with his attitude, desire, skill, willingness to play. His willingness to run another ten years to help a mate is simply impeccable.

“It’s a joy to see. It’s great to see someone who comes in for big money hit the ground running straight away. It’s fantastic. He’s great. He’s a top player.”

High praise from two of the club’s most successful servants. Long may it continue.

Claude: “He is better than sex.”

Nuff said.

Dale Cooper

Thanks for making think about Claude having sex at 9:20 on a Wednesday morning.

Thegunninggunnerthatguns

Then again, he might be the new kama sutra…

kona cadabra

Titi also said something about the claudes of this world …that they are a joke…just to clarify.

but i guess it does not suit the arseblog fence sitting agenda

Tom

HE. DOES. WHAT. HE. WANTS. His name is Alexis and he does what he wants.

UncleTony

I really hope Coquelin becomes a prolific goal scorer so we get the headline. ‘Coq can’t stop firing for Arse’

Fergie the Gooner

Coq pulverises Man City?

Phil

“City can’t handle Wenger’s Coq”

ernstein

Or better still ‘coq never fails to penetrate the opponent’s rear’…

Tom

He does what he wants. He does what he wants. The new King does what he wants

AS17 is fot A.Sanchez not A.song

When the King speaks, I listen and learn #Allhailtheking #longlivekinghenry14th

David

would Sanchez replace Freddie L in the invincibles or would he have competed with Pires/Bergkamp for a spot?

ForeignGooner

Freddie’s best attribute was his work rate. Alexis has that along with superior skill.

Nepaligooner

Alexis friggin Sanchez . the Prince to the throne.. Just need a couple guards around him now !!

The Only Olivier is Giroud

Once Titi starts complimenting you like this you know…. he’s not some sort of clown who’ll just chirp any old shite to the media.

Rich

ok Arsenal now go out and buy his equivalent at centre half, Defensive midfield and Striker!

n11gooner

Nah he’s useless

Zelalem

Still can’t believe Wenger let TGSTEL go for him! This man is past it!!!

Gooner111

-years +yards

Chan

Maybe he might even run 10 years just to help a mate

Milo

Alexis Gump

happy gunner

I don’t think people understand how good Sanchez is. I mean he is as important to us now, as Thierry was back in the invincibles season. If we can keep kosc fit, and that is a big IF, as well as debuchy, along with buying a CDM who can defend (not a mythical one, just one that can tackle, intercept and pass sideways), then we could win the leauge. I’m not being a optimist here, our home form is brilliant. Our defensive record is fantastic when we have our whole back line fit, we beat most teams below 5th in… Read more »

goonero

He really is the new leader of arsenal fc, the true super star that will lead us back to the top of world football, not like some of the prima donnas who preceeded him, Alexis is the real fucking deal.

Gandalf

“Sol Campbell reckons the summer signing would have been a perfect fit for Arsene Wenger’s 49ers”.

Thank god we didn’t go 69 games unbeaten.

Fool of a Took

One thing that really makes me upset is the fact that we hail him for (among many other reasons) running those extra couple of yards for his team mates. This should not be something spectacular for a player in the EPL.

If you get paid these salary’s the least thing you can do, even if you´re shite (I´m looking at you Podolski), is to run your bollocks of in every game! Seeing our ex german “striker” slowly jog back to our half after loosing the ball makes me furious!

Rant over, sorry about that…

loose_cannon

I don’t think that’s quite fair. The vast majority of top players are superb athletes, but Sanchez is simply a cut above. It isn’t just attitude, it’s his physical prowess. I’m not saying Podolski couldn’t have worked harder but to expect him to do what Sanchez is doing is a bit like expecting him to be as quick as Walcott!

eternalflamini

“His willingness to run another ten years to help a mate is simply impeccable”

Alexis is so incredible that he can make a run across the space and time continuum. I believe it.

Donkey Adams

I think an understated impact that Alexis provides is that he also takes the spotlight away from Mesut.

Ozil is a lot more subtle in his play which is why he has had a lot of (unjustified) criticism. He just sits in the background pulling the strings. Alexis will take away the pressure of fans expecting Ozil to play like Ronaldo or Messi. He isn’t that type of player, he complements and makes those types of player better.

Gutbukket Deffrolla

If he takes the oppo’s minds off Ozil it will be bloody marvellous. Better they chase Alexis than they catch Ozil.

gooneracrosstheatlantic

You are right abt that mate. Alexis is the rock star on the stage and mesut is the organiser who sets it up fforour rock star to perform. No one cares abt the organiser but we cant do without.

Matt

Something not mentioned by Thierry or Sol is that Alexis is also improving the players around him…notably the Ox. Also did you notice that even for the 15mins they were playing together on Sunday, Alexis and Ozil seemed to be completely on the same wavelength in the final third.

Gutbukket Deffrolla

Covered by “He is going to score goals but it is his all-round game that I am so impressed with.” perhaps?

Charlie

Didn’t even know that we were in the leauge! Is that playing football whilst sliding down a hill on a tea tray? And we could win it? Brilliant!

DB10**

Ffs everyone stop jinxing our only world class player.
Barton, pelligrini and now the invincibles on his case.
Obviously he is enjoying 1st season luck. He will soon show he is like any other average Arsenal player.

Sean

I consider it one of life’s great privileges to be able to read about Thierry and Alexis in the same sentence.

Trex d' Gunner

What a fantastic player, apart from his pressing style of play which the whole team is into now, the accurate one twos between him,TR7 and Santi is just so orgasmic, the most impressive thing about Alexis to me is his ability to make a goal out of nothing

Gutbukket Deffrolla

‘Ere, you don’t think Wenger bought him because he knew he’d fit in with a pressing style of game, do you? Nah! Wenger have a plan for how the team should play rather than just having a formation? How could that be? He’s hardly a Brenda Rodgers now, is he? Must just be dumb luck I suppose.

WindyCityArse

Pressing tactics with two of the slowest players in Mertesackers & Giroud…. It’s like having a Ferrari with Flinstone wheels.

Nasri's missing chinbone

Alexis had a choice, Brenda or Arsene. Says it all…

Ex-Priest Tobin

I’m still convinced another club will swoop for Alexis. We can’t match the wages of a lot of top clubs. He won’t be an Arsenal player for long IMO so no point getting too attached to him.

1nil2theboys

@ ex priest tobin
Fuck. Me.
Some people need to cheer up.
Nothing’s forever mate and we’re all gonna die.
Just try and enjoy the ride eh?

LANS

it’s early days but looking like future candidate for #bestwengersigningever
