Club confirm training ground improvement plans

As Arseblog News told you back in February, the club have made significant plans to improve the training facilities at London Colney and the Hale End academy, with planning permission granted for the work at the former location.

Today the club have confirmed the details which will include the enlargement of existing facilities and the construction of new ones including a new gym a 40-metre running track, ice baths, a spa, a cryotherapy chamber, state-of-the-art data analysis and scouting suites, a holodeck and player meeting rooms.

At Hale End there are plans for three new pitches, changing rooms, education areas, landscaping and car parking. Last month we told you of visits to a company in Switzerland that produces artificial grass and it’s believed they are being considered as suppliers for the surfaces at the youth academy.

Arsenal chief-executive Ivan Gazidis said, “These are significant investments to ensure we provide our players with the best possible facilities at every age group within the club.

“These developments, together with the recruitment of specialists in player preparation, injury prevention and recovery, analytics, coaching and scouting, will ensure we stay at the forefront of the latest thinking within the game and are an important part of our ambition to keep improving and developing on and off the pitch.”

The work is expected to get underway imminently and take almost two and half years before a planned completion ahead of the 2017/18 season.

Hey maybe we’ll solve the Diaby theorem now

Jesse

Whoa whoa whoa……a holodeck? I thought that was just some Star Trek shit.

Bounds green gooner

Poor old Diaby. Not his fault his career never really started due to that tackle but I would love to earn his wages…. For being crocked for 8 years. Will be get a testimonial next year?

Mikel Artekkers

No point; he won’t be fit for it

Anon

What the hell has this got to do with Abou Diaby?

Is really the first thing to come to mind to both of you about Arsenal improving their training facilities “Let’s diss Diaby”?

Arsepedant

And how many times do you have to be told? While he’s been out injured, Diaby has not been accepting his wages.

TeeCee

“cryotherapy chamber”

Presumably they’re going to put Diaby on ice and only thaw him out once medical science has a cure?

RedGib

I bet he’d swap all his wages to start again. Poor sod

UGooner

“…state-of-the-art data analysis and scouting suites…”

Arsene never uses data and the latest technologies…see they only just thinking about it. Sakwenga!

Hehehehe Trust me, it’s a lot of Gooners out there saying this.

And they wouldn’t think we have been using these resources already and that’s why the extra space is needed either. *Sigh*

CB

Good news, I get the impression Shad is managing things a lot better. We are getting some coming back earlier than expected (eg Giroud) and seem to have less injuries than previous seasons.

Here’s to this extension improving things further.

RSAGooner

less injuries? what are you smoking?

Stillmatic

It’s already been confirmed Shadz has been assimilated into the current system. He’s not the Head of Sports Science at the club (though, imo he should be).

Ivan Drago

Always great to see investment in the future, wouldn’t mind a go on that holodeck

ClockEndRider

Holo decks are all very well but why hasn’t the manager invented a time travelling car and hover boards yet? Wots ee doin wiv ‘is time? Wenga Aaahhhtttttt….

Glass half full

Holodeck?

Is that like the ones they have in Star Trek

kreeb

To Bouldy go where no man has gone before

The secönd cöming

Hopefully it will help us to live long and prosper.

Dr Duh

Holodeck? Really? Because that would be cool and potentially useful. What’s amazing is it’s about to become feasible.

imagine going from a chalk talk/film review about reading the next opponent’s defence and reacting to the counter attack to a ‘Fifa’ style sim where you could see the play drawn up first as a birds eye then from a POV view. Maybe if we’d literally put Gibbs in the position of watching Monaco split defenders dozens of times he would have recognized it earlier and started sprinting back to pick up Berbatov right away.

realseriousgooner

Or Gibbs could have just gotten back to his position and done his job. No Holodeck contraption needed for that lesson.

Bouldy and Wenger sit down for their first session in the state-of-the-art data analysis centre following a classic Arsenal performance…

Gunnerjoe

Holodeck good joke 😉

Hedgehog

Is it a 400m running track?

Eabryt

It says 40m track. So I would assume it’s either just a 40m straight away with track surface, for sprints. Or possibly a really short/tight track with 10m turns/straights. Which most coaches would agree is bad for the joints.

Xxxrob

What the fuck is a holo deck
My training ground has a bbq pit
Sometimes there’s sausages

Theoptimist

I reckon the injury crisis is down to the superb pitches at The Emirates and also our training facilities, our players are used to running on 100% pristine, flat surfaces. They need to be out running across fields and through forests to build flexibility and ligament toughness.

Balal

Referring to the source provided by this article, there is no explicit mention of a ‘holo deck’.

charley

A holo deck i always wanted a holodeck says wenger
when he gets to the holodeck he asks what’s this
the holo deck says bould
WEnger”i thought it was a deck of cards”
