Gunners heading for Thailand this summer

Reports from local press say that Arsenal are going to play an exhibition game in Thailand this summer.

With plans already confirmed for a trip to Singapore, the Gunners are going to be in the part of the world in July for the Barclays’ Asia trophy.

We’ll face Everton, Stoke and a Singapore Select XI. Matches will take place over two match-days on Wednesday 15 and Saturday 18 July 2015, with a final to determine the winner and a play-off to decide third place. There will be two matches on each day.

Now it’s being reported that representatives from Arsenal have been in touch with the Thai Premier League to play an All-Star team on July 20th.

“Details will be finalised soon,” their spokesperson said.

Further details are limited at this moment in time but it would make sense considering this summer’s schedule, so look out for an official announcement soon.

There’s also bound to be great excitement for one particular Arsenal player of Thai heritage as Francis Bancoquelin gets to catch up on his past.

We’re sorry.

No, we’re not.

Better watch out for those women with a secret package then!

Andy Mack

Are you speaking from experience?

Arsenalboy

Haha, Touché!

Big Mad Andy

Hopefully the trip to Thailand was arranged to facilitate that pun.

frank

Hopefully it wasn’t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

DR

Why not India?
Atleast an all star ISL will have Ljungberg and Pires…. and uhm.. Santos!

SoqedHozi

I saw Santos score for goa when I went out last year. Pires didn’t get off the bench. I saw lljumberg too play the first half doe Delhi.

Mayank

Rather have them play the I-league champions Bengaluru FC. Owners are Gooners and have money to burn. plus I’d get to see the Arsenal in flesh.

CB

I am happy that fans in the Far East are seeing Arsenal live.

However I think we have a good shot at the PL next season and would prefer a pre-season without either major tournaments or lots of travelling/diversion. Arsenal don’t need the money but do need to start next season better than this one.

CB

And isn’t Sanchez (see picture) the one player that won’t be on the trip due to a tournament?

gooner1981

Well, there’s just one long transfer each way, in the comforts of Emirates first-class. The heat and humidity should be good for pre-season. We probably don’t need the money, but it is nice that fans from the Far East get to see their heroes. Nowadays a fan base is much much more than the borough of Islington, so as a club we need to engage with the fan base, and build more support! I’m surprised Arsenal haven’t gone to India- with such a huge population, it surely has more potential as a market (even with the cricket). I would however,… Read more »

But it won’t happen……..

Sawadee Coq!!

GreekTragedy

Just imagining all the Stoke players, flabby and sun burnt to shit, they’ve brought their own tea bags, and are complaining about not being able to find a decent pint of stout anywhere while talking very loud and very slowly to the locals. Dicks.

overmars

Might go to Thailand to watch the team, it’s crazy cheap, the locals are insanely polite and nice when you aren’t insulting Buddha or the king.

And the FOOD! The food…. 300 GBP might be enough for hotels and flights. Not sure what the Thai Baht is floating at these days.

A few ladyboy wonders to be scouted out there

Andy Mack

If that’s what keeps you happy, good luck to you out there.

frank

Theirs a lot of ladies to be scouted as well……………

And what about the India trip?

Alexstratz

As long as this trip doesn’t drain the boys of all their energy…

Off-topic: this must be the weakest CL quarter-finals for years. Thanks PL clubs for f*cking things up.

David C

What are you on about? Barcelona, Real Madrid, Athletico Madrid, Juventus, Bayern Munich, PSG – powerhouses! Porto and Monaco might not be as good, but Monaco just beat us…

gooner

oooh pre season football! The time I don’t watch the Arsenal from the bar. Just stay home and fight for the remote with the family

sorry, ladies of the house, today we won’t watch Alice in wonderland, how about le coq in Thailand?

frank

Well Thai kick offs are quite wife friendly really as afternoon kick offs are early morning and evenings are early afternoon UK time.

Vishnu

Lecoq in bangkok !!! Its got a nice ring to it :D:D

Warm

Welcome to bangcoq arsenal!!! Wow…am i dreaming…as a Thai..this is a dream comes true

Double98

The club should get a few million Bancoquelin Shirts printed up and try and flog them to the Thais –
Thats just cynical right??

so i guess we could buy the best Thai player and leave him in the reserves except for the summer trips to Thailand where we play him with the first team.

Arsepedant

Still waiting for Arsenal to come to North America for their preseason … please? …

frank

Thought we did.

Arsepedant

That was just for one game – I mean come over for a proper preseason, five or six games. And in proper big stadiums, not that 25,000 seat little tosspot that the Red Bulls play out of. Really, just 25,000 seats? There were over a million requests for tickets! They could have sold out Giants Stadium, which is only a few miles away, twelve times over. Better yet, they could have come to the West Coast and played in the Rose Bowl, which seats 110,000. Oh well, maybe in 2016.
