Nottingham Forest confirm Akpom loan deal

Nottingham Forest have confirmed the signing of Chuba Akpom on loan until the end the season.

The highly-rated 19 year old recently signed a new deal with Arsenal but has too much in front of him right now to make any kind of first team impact.

Having outgrown youth and reserve level, the next step is for him to play regular first team football and linking up with Dougie Freedman’s side is a good step for him.

Forest are currently 9th in the Championship, 10 points off a play-off place, and could use some extra firepower if they’re to make up that ground.

Akpom has made 7 appearances in three competitions for us this season, but barring some terrible injury crisis was unlikely to add to that.

He’ll be hoping to make an impact at the City Ground and to give Arsene Wenger something to think about ahead of his summer recruitment.

Good luck to him.

hopefully he pulls a Coquelin and improves and proves himself!

TR7 > CR7

Hopefully he pulls a Coq* and improves and proves himself!

Cape Town Gunner

Makes quite a lot of sense. He will get a flurry of games, and even if these games are at a lower level he will score goals and get into that habit. I rate Akpom very highly. Wonderful physique, strength and pace.

He was sneaking into match day 18s up until February but now that at least 3 players are returning after the interlull it seems unlikely he will make a squad until May anyway.

Good luck to him.

Andy Mack

Good. He needs game time.
I hope Hayden does the same soon.

Don’t jinx us by mentioned injury crisis. ..

CB

I want to see him pulling up trees at Forest!

Romford Pele

Love this kid. It’d be great to see a HG kid make it through to the first team proper. Been at Arsenal for years and is a proper Gooner. Get the feeling it’s between him and Sanogo for a squad place. Preference obviously towards Chuba, hopefully he proves it at Forest.

Victor Kimuyu

chuba vs sanogo. Lets see how this one pans out. Interesting times ahead.

AnonymousGun

Why not both?

MPLS

Whoa. I actually forgot about Yaya. That is horribly embarrassing to admit despite the fact I just did.
Tells me where we are with our current first team attacking options.

Double98

Could we not just start going 3 or 4 up by the 60th minute so that we can blood the young players our selves?

I mean that would be preferable to hanging on and winning by the odd goal.

I wonder if wenger has considered this?

Less rambly Pete

I believe he tried this tactic before against Monaco…

Akpom akpom, chuba akpom
He’s better than van Persie and he’s got a better song

Sex bomb by Tom Jones. Would be criminal to waste a chant like this. And yes I’ve posted it before.

Pete

w00p. This is good news to a Forest and Arsenal fan.
A good move for both clubs

Danger Mouse

Are you a fan of both Pete? I am. Always liked Forest since Clough’s time. ( hope this admission of a soft spot for another club doesnt get me banned from Arseblog and exiled to Siberia) Anyway, very pleased with this news

David

Always got a soft Spot for Forest and Southampton myself, same with some clubs in Germany, doesnt mean i’m a fan of those clubs since my loyalties are with the gunners, just that i like them

A tree cannot make a Forest

Romford Pele

Akpom, Chuba Akpom
He’s better than van Persie

Randy Pan the Arsenal Fan

If Akpom falls over in Forest and nobody hears it happen will he ever have existed at all?

I’m worried our young striker could disappear in a puff of existential paradox…

Glasgow_Gunner

He is taking a leaf from Coqy’s book, it’s good to branch out.

This is good news, he is an entertaining watch, I’m hoping he makes championship defenders look silly on a regular basis.

Paul

Thumbed you down with a slip of the phone sry!

David

I rate akpom higher than Sanogo, hope he does good at the City Ground (would love to see Forest back in top tier and would love to see city and chelsea down). Good luck to the boy

Paul

Sanogo is not very good! There I have said it!

Nasri's missing chinbone

Yep. Sanogo. Had a clear run of games up top and is a mature player with lots of experience. Must be shite. Had you been in charge of that potato rabble up the road you would have sold bale a bit prematurely wouldn’t you. I’m not saying sanogo is going to be world class in years to come, but I am saying give him a chance before you pass judgement on him. Glad your not on duty at the pearly gates…

bonkers

Hes fast as fuuuck. I hope he stays
