Santi Cazorla says that signing a new deal with Arsenal came about because he feels so at home at the club, and because he feels he can win things with the Gunners.
The midfield maestro put pen to paper on a new deal last week, and speaking to the official site, he declared himself thoroughly pleased with his lot.
“I think this is the best moment in my career and the best club for me, and for the future”, he said. “I’m very happy and I want to try to help the team get more trophies.
“Here I have everything. I have confidence, I have a good team full of good players and I think this is the best option for me. It’s an easy decision to continue to play for Arsenal.
“Every year we have a better team and we sign some good players every summer, like Mesut, like Alexis, like Petr Cech now, and this is important for me and the club. Of course we want to improve every year.”
It’s three years to do the day since we paid Malaga a little over £13m for the Spanish international, and since then he’s gone on to make 149 appearances, scoring 27 goals, including a cracker in the 2014 FA Cup final which kick-started the comeback that saw us win our first trophy in 9 years.
He also drew praise from manager Arsene Wenger who backed him to remain a fan favourite.
“You see how people chant Santi’s name,” he said. “Santi is technically perfect, he’s a very intelligent player and a very good team player as well.”

Not for long, Santi, it’s going to be topped by the moment you lift the Premier League trophy in May. But maybe the Champions League final shortly after would be even greater, I’ll leave that for you to decide when you read this, no?

I suspect as Rosicky gets phased out, Santi will move into the role as gap filler bc of his all round ability.
