Ch-ch-ch-changes: Sp*rs v Arsenal teams

Here we go then folks, a chance to bounce back from two defeats with a Capital One Cup game against Sp*rs. The teams are in and Arsene Wenger has rotated once more, let’s hope this works better than it did in Zagreb.

Subs: 7 other twats

Arsenal: Ospina, Debuchy, Mertesacker, Chambers, Gibbs, Arteta, Flamini, Ramsey, Campbell, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Giroud

Subs: Macey, Monreal, Walcott, Ozil, Alexis, Bellerin, Iwobi

Alex

If we beat them with this XI they must really be shit.

DialSquareGoon

Would have expected Ozil and Alexis to start but I’ll take it. AW taking rotation very seriously.

Nasri's missing chinbone

Spurs have got great depth on their bench if we penetrate them

Lyle Lanley

Err…

59elcamino

So much for the capital one cup

Ian

FA cup it is

Morbius

Ramsey number 10, Campbell left, Ox right?

Or maybe Ox central?

Geo_arse

prefer to see ramsey central. I’m sure they would switch for small periods during the game.

Petit's Handbag

Christ can we not give Alexis one night off to sit at home and put his feet up!? I know he’s our best player but come on!

sl_andy

Put his feet up? If he was not on the bench he would do a 10km run or some other insane fitness challenge.

Mpls

Haha!
This might be the only way to force him to rest!

Jamie

Özil is our best player.

Nick

10 changes, huh?

Any one else get the feeling that Arsene does actually read arseblog just so he can do the opposite?

Joel Carter

I’m with Arsene on this one. I know Sp*rs are the enemy and everything but the Capital One Cup is really not important in the grand scheme of things. What we really need is a convincing win against Leceister in the Premier League ahead of Manchester Utd.

Fireman Sam

Yeah agreed. This cup is a distraction. At least we can give Campbell a run out, give him a chance to show what he can do.

Mpls

Man, a back 7 that ain’t started but one match each in a few weeks. That’s nervy. Don’t care about this cup particularly, but We need a win.

Nice bench, but let’s hope we don’t need it and wait too long to make changes.

Arth

What? I thought he just said that he wasn’t going to rotate much for this game.

Jeff

Wenger lies, big shock, not!

Belfast Gooner

Be good to see Ramsey playing in the AM role. Bit concerned about the lack of pace at centre-half. Up to Flamini to keep on top of that. COYG.

.

10 changes from Saturday – wow. Didn’t predict that. Come on Arsenal! This team more than capable of a win.

Edu's Braces

I miss the days when league cup meant 17 year old debutantes but the squad players have to play.

Actually no idea if that’s spurs first team or not.

greg

At least Ramsey is being played in a central position. A goal and an assist from him tonight

Robxxx

Is the Sp*rs lineup changed around much? I wouldn’t know as i barely pay attention to that sh*te. Looks like their first team

This could all go quite pear shaped….

JustBrowsing

Strong bench..not that we’ll need it,may as well tuck them up with blankets and a glass of milk.
Gutted ‘the jeff’ is injured.
COYG!

izzymuzzet

Gonna get stuffed

ozil lovely eyes

Trippier, Fazio, Wimmer lol I honestly thought you made those names up sounds like names from pes master league. or wait…did you? And macey sounds like a women name

clockend_mum

Maybe it’s Dean Macey, former Olympic decathlete. That’s almost certainly who it is.

Hak

Looks to be a more classical 4-3-3 rather than 4-2-3-1

Mpls

pretty easy to slightly shift to play it either way.

giroud
camp-ramsey-ox
arteta-flam
gibbo-chambers-mert-deboo
ospina

That’s how I’d guess given the list. I’d think he’d want them in same-same formation and style for game time consistency.

Rodriguino

It has officially registered that Giroud has official lost his place.

SmokinGunn

The Chambers-Per Combo is what scares me the most about this line-up. Anyone get the jitters like I do?

Fireman Sam

Yes, definite jitters. But fuck it, it’s only the poetic anal.

Serge Blanco

‘Protected’ by Arteta and the Flamster. If Spurs cant score against us tonight they are total shit.

1GoonerDan

That looks like sit deep, use Ramsey for creativity and Ox/Joel to provide pace on counter and to feed off Giroud.

With Per, Chambers, Arteta + Flamini we’d be daft to play a high line but they shouldn’t be able to get through if we congest our final third.

therumblerouser

Clearly AW doesn’t give a rat’s a** about the outcome here. If only it wasn’t against Twat’n’hamTwatspurs…..

Scooter

I will make it all the more humiliating for the spuds when they lose to this side

Stevo

No Gabriel or Kos? Even on the bench? Serious lack of pace in the center of defense.

Cagooner

I like giving those two a complete rest. Ready for the new two league games.

Gooner Rob

Arseblog, Capital One Cup game against Chelsea??? It seams Dick-head Costa has gotten to you too!!

Arsepedant

I’m not all that happy with this line-up. While I do understand the need for squad players to get games, this is fucking Spurms here and we need a win! There’s no pace at all in midfield. Ten changes didn’t get us very far in Zagreb, sure hope the lads can get it together tonight. Mertesacker and Chambers are going to have their hands full with Kane.

Campbell … oh, dear.

frank frm vienna

campbell to score a brace then 😉

Gook

Come On You Gunners!

Glory hunter

I guess this confirms Gabriel as 1st choice CB

Mpls

No, just a safe match to get Mert’s legs back after illness, and a good bit of leadership on the pitch with Him and Arteta.

Cheesus

This team is still more than capable to beat them. Mind a lot of those players were starters not too long ago. I’m quite confident for this one.

bazza_wicks

i know he always puts out a team capable of wining the game but thats the same for every game so why does AW come out with that stupid quote when asked normally when we lose so expect that question after the game SIGHhhhhhhhh…………..

Brent

Of course it will work better than it did in Zagreb. If Sp*rs were better than tiny European teams, we’d be hearing about their annual Europa League triumphs.

husni

i’m pretty sure arsene once said “when you make more than 2 to 3 changes to your team you are taking a huge gamble” or something along those lines… anyway fingers crossed for a good game and a victory. we definitely need it. COYG

Mpls

Perhaps when they scrimmage at practice this is the ‘opposition’ – so the only changes would be Giroud, Ramsey, Mert, and Ox!

Hak

He said that in regards to transfers

Andy Mack

He said that “when you make more than 3 to 7 changes to your squad you are taking a huge gamble” about changing the squad during the transfer season.

Andy Mack

should say ‘3 or 4’

Ibbo

If the traveling supporters do not chant ‘What do we think of Tottenham’, I would be very disappointed.

oliver

but why we kept our own Macey on the bench?

CLEGooner

Guess Arsene doesn’t make me losing three games in seven days.

Eyoba

Considering there is a good chance Gabriel will soon be banned for his ‘improper conduct’for refusing to leave after the red card, he should have started the game today as this would have been the last chance to rest mertesacker.

Andy Mack

More likely to be a fine to raise money for the FA.

Scooter

Genuinely excited to see this lineup play. Lots of people have been saying how Alexis and Ozil have been underperforming and this will be a great chance for their backups to prove themselves. Chambers looked good off the bench vs Chelsea and I expect the usual solidity with Per. I’m sure Debuchy is aching to get back on the pitch to make up for his shocker in Croatia. All of these players, apart from Ramsey, need games. If nothing else it will be good for these guys to get closer to match fitness should they be needed when the first… Read more »

Easy win for us here, as I always say gash is gash

Dmanderz

Looks a bit like playing FIFA on career mode, where you swap every player because of whining emails about not playing enough… But on a more serious note, this team being played at the start of last season would have been seen as a strong one! I mean, Mert, Gibbs and Debuchy in defence, Arteta, Ramsey and The Ox in midfield, HFB up front – it’s not exactly a weak starting XI, with a couple of young cameos that you’d expect. Big impact on the bench as well with Walcott, Sanchez and Ozil. I quite like the look of this… Read more »

Cagooner

Gash is gash, scum is scum.

jason

By the way arseblog sky sports stole your headline in their live commentary. Looks like a good old copy and paste job.

Die Hard Gooner

Really worrying center of defense. playing per with chambers is a bit suicidal. They are too alike, they both need kos or gab to have a good game. in midfield I am not to confident too but having ramsey up there is good because he will offer the energy needed. The attacking trio id nicely rotated. Lets hope we get a result.
.

Robstar

Campbell to score

Goooooooner

I know everyone is slaughtering the combination of arteta and flamini in midfield but I think it is a clever decision by Wenger. The two of them provide us with some more defensive stability. If it were just Arteta I think we would be a lot more exposed.

Springbank 1962

I’m anticipating a rerun of Reading 2012 without the goals.

paul

With the amount of defensive players behind him, the Ox won’t need to track back…exciting formation COYG!

Canuck Gunner

I have no problem with the lineup. Normally for capital cup games wed have half a dozen teenagers. Do we really think this is worse? There is easily enough experience and talent there to win this game. It is now up to the players to deliver.
But sucks that I’m at work and can’t watch. Will hope to sneak a listen on online radio

paul

By the way I 8 Spuds

He's got no hair but we don't care...

Goodness me, Jamie Redknapp really is a giant penis.

He's got no hair but we don't care...

The issue I have is with Chambers in the team. Hope we don’t regret that decision.

paul

Loved the way Wenger walked up to the Spuds staff to shake all their hands! Great dig at Maureen and the Chavs Arsene you naughty man! 🙂

Ferngunner

Why is sky stealing “ch-ch-ch”

HAHAHAHAHAHA
