Wenger has gone full Dark Knight :

“you either die a hero, or live long enough to become the villain.”

Runty Wilson

That’s actually nailed it.

wizardry

Theo Walcott, nicking a living.

Runcorn Gooner

If the answer is Walcott
The Question is very worrying

Carlsenal

0 – fucks I’m giving for the remainder of everything

Siserio

Tip tap? No.Defence? No.Attack? No Counter attack? No.What happened to our identity/philosophy on the pitch? Where is the spirit? Wenger have not only lost touch,he have equally lost his motivation and style. What is then left to cheer?

Canador

He is absolutely like salt that has lost it’s test…useless!!!

bonbonbon

Feel exactly the same. I was gutted that I was working this Saturday but now I’m glad I’ll miss the match against Spuds. Can’t put myself through a fifth disappointing (that word barely seems to cover it) game in a row. We can’t win the league properly now anyway, the only thing that can happen is that Leicester lose it and we pick up the pieces, which seems a bit substandard.

Gooners & Roses

Can just somebody explain why is Joel not getting the minutes he deserves instead of Theo, or, even Alexis.

George

I cannot. I don’t get it either. He should be starting there and if not him, then Ramsey should be.

Mpls

Theory 1: Because he’s proving the manager wrong and showing up his faith in the failing starters.
Theory 2: Because the league has been bought.
I don’t know. I’m frustrated and confused enough to buy into both.

Theo had better not even make the matchday squad for Tottenham. Start with Welbeck and Campbell wide. They’re the only two who seem to be interested in working to make a fucking goal happen, and Campbell is even capable of mixing it up and cutting around the outside and crossing occasionally. Cough..Alexis..Cough..

John Titor

Guys I’m really sad right now

the only sam is nelson

oh crap and you’re from the future, too

Stuck on repeat...

I think that all that was missing today was some sort of clown car on the pitch.

Frustrated – you bet. Dissapointed – beyond words. Surprised – no, not really at all.

It’s been a season of some truely woeful results, matched only by ludicrus & pathetically cheap talk by both players & the manager. The owner & the entire Board can fuck right off too whilst they’re at it.

Highest ticket prices in the land paid by fans who deserve significantly better.

SGP_GNR

Were the players the clowns and Wenger the clown king? Yes, it was a joke of a performance
and Wenger’s showing what a real joke he’s become/becoming.

Time for this circus to leave town.

Andy G

I’m not gonna watch or read about Arsenal for one full week. Next time I check the league table we’ll be in 2nd (ahead of the Yids on goal difference) and in the next round of the cup. Come on!

arseblog

Hi, not sure how this got through the filters, but please see the comment policy – http://news.arseblog.com/comment-policy/

There are a lot of words you can use to refer to Sp*rs, just not that one please!

SDB

wenger’s lost the dressing room. i can’t think of anything else. it’s past time for him to go. i think elneny is probably a good enough player (haven’t seen much of him unfortunately), but when you’re in the title race, depleted midfield crying out for reinforcements, and the manager brings in an unknown kid from the swiss league that needs months to get accustomed to the physicality of the prem, as a player you just have to throw up. it’s not kim kallstrom, but it’s pretty close. when is enough enough. what happened to arsenal football? this team plays shit… Read more »

George

Funnily enough, I was thinking about that ‘lost the dressing room’ stuff myself. Not sure. It’s a bloody shambles, though, no denying that.

With Cazorla out it’s painfully apparent that we have no one who can dictate play in the middle of the pitch and transition our attack. Wilshere would/could have been the other, but it’s high time we stopped relying on him to be healthy.

Without Cazorla it’s almost embarrassing to watch us try and move the ball through congested areas.

loose_cannon

Really we needed to adjust our game for his absence, playing Campbell would be a good start because his combination play is a lot better than Walcott and Ox’s atm. We could also play Ozil a bit deeper, a bit of a 4-3-3 to cover for the lack of Cazorla. And let’s not get it twisted; Cazorla has his vulnerabilities too and can be targeted. It’s futile to pick out one player we miss or is playing badly, Wenger needs to look at the collective

Alexisshorts

@loose_cannon. Completely agree with you. So why can’t Wenger see this?

loose_cannon

He probably looks at the teamsheet and thinks “this should work” and in fairness most of us do the same. But we’ve been found out by the oppositiom and simultaneously the system doesn’t fit the players, or at least how theyre told to play. I actually don’t fault the desire of the players but they look so confused on the pitch as to where to run, where to press and where to pass. That’s on the manager and atm Wenger is bottling it. His first should be acceptance; this isn’t working and it’s not going to work. Only then can… Read more »

Highburyclock

The key word in your comment is ‘transition’. It is what we miss a great deal at the moment. We are slow in turning defence to attack and it is that which Santi Cazorla brings.

Possession

Zero…….percentage chance of me renewing my season ticket for next season.

SG_Gooner

take that back!

we may get a new manager next season.

dayjahvoo

how wenger saw it fit to sub out campbell will always be a mystery to me. there was no tiredness, he was arguably the best player on the field and it wasn’t like he had a better option on the bench.

Just baffling.

Steve

Agree, Its like hes doing it to spite everyone that criticized Campbells absence on Sunday. That he knows best. Unbelievable he withdrew the lad.

Heroldg

Imagine LVG subbing Rashford after he had scored the first goal against us, that’s how terrible Wenger’s decision to sub Campbell was.

George

Aye, it got the boos it deserved and I’m not in favour of booing at the ground. Utterly baffling.

Heroldg

This game needed a goal from either side at 1-1 for the winner.

we had our chances no doubt but the frustration of not scoring was evident in our finishing.

Mert should have scored but because his confidence level was So low he laid it for Giroud who definetly should have just passed it into the net instead chose to let out frustrations hence ball canoned off Post.

The saddest thing is that at the end of every season I have a genuine belief that we are gonna kick and that ground hog December and February are behind us

oooohhhh!

Heroldg

103 shots….. only 7 goals?

Okay attacking players it’s not like you are paid or anything.

naija gooner

Supporting this team is so frustrating. I’m beginning to really hate that i love and care about Arsenal this much. My biggest problem is our body language, the players don’t seem to truly believe and now the fans are losing hope too. I don’t think we deserve to win the league, both Leicester and spuds have had much better seasons, i really hope Leicester do it. They’re under the least pressure and i think they’ll handle it just fine considering how they managed to avoid relegation last season. As for Wenger, he needs to go regardless of what happens this… Read more »

Fuck Leicester.
Up The Arsenal!

arabmoney

These are the kind of comments I do not like. We should never give up. We should always fight! That’s what we want from our team, that’s what we should provide as supporters – get their spirits high and kick the shit out of the spuds! No more excuses!

YA GUNNERS YA!!

Mpls

This is true, but also very very difficult.

It is what we are all complaining of not seeing in the players right now, and they are all highly skilled professionals (well, most of ’em).

Both sides of this team / supporters relationship should be doing so, but it is so difficult to believe right now.

Dennis is testing our faith.

Alex

Wenger lost it and cost us. He does not have a game plan neither a strategy on the field. He has a bad habbit. Games are different and each game needs a different strategy. Sanchez is off form, he must come from the bench. Campbell is good but is the one always sacrificed. Poor Wenger must just go

Carlos_Santana

How is it thay we always follow suite in dropping points when everyone else around us drop .. This really is quite painful .. At a loss as to how we’re going to turn this around .. Watch theo bag two this weekend .. And then go on to prove that evolution is a myth at the same time

George

Right now, I’d take the side of barn being unscathed at evens.

Also, Sanchez losing the ball in any situation has moved to odds-on.

Man Manny

I am gutted; really gutted. I have thrown in the towel. We will never win the league – not this year, or the next; as long as Arsene is still in the dugout. That said, let me say this in case someone out there still retains hope of a surprise title win. There are positives – all contenders bar Leceister lost so it is as you were. Secondly, I remember City in the’11 – ’12 season – they lost at the emirates and were 8 points adrift with 6 matches to go. United had wrapped up the title, or so… Read more »

Siserio

Arsenal does not possess the quality or spirit of that city squad.I remember them beating united 1-0 in that high pressure match.Arsenal couldn’t even beat the united kids. What then gives you the belief in this squad? Better come off your high horse.

Man Manny

Read the post again Siserio. I have thrown in the towel, I said. We will never win the title this season or next as long as Arsene is still manager, I added. I then alluded to City in case anyone here still retains hope of the title – I am not one to tell anyone it can’t be done. Stranger things have happened.
So where is the “High horse” am on?

JB

I know none of us think that now, but come on. We clearly have the quality to be better than Leicester and Sp**s, and until recently our record against the top 6 this season was the best. Do you think that city fans has the belief when they were at that point?

PTAFC

hope the club have the balls to sack him. Year after year we get the same story.. Should have gone years ago. Gutless……all of them

voldermort

The club would never sack him and I wouldn’t like to see that happen either.im %100 that he should go and should have gone a few years ago but would like to think he would resign this year and leave. He deserves more than to be sacked but the fans deserve more than any more of this manager and his ineptitude.

Hi-brid

25 – percentage of league matches lost by Arsenal this season.

Dapper dan's feelin sad

What would you prefer?

We get back in it, win all the games but loose the last one so that Liescter wins the title by one point.

Or

We continue our collapse and end up in 6th place?

The first option would give AW a complete backing by the board and 75% of the fan base, but the second would surely lead tonsome dramatic changes in the management.

Mpls

Easy.

The first because in that scenario we’re above sp*rs, city, united, and chelsea. Fuck the board and the rest as far as I’m concerned. If not us, Leicester.

James f southwales

This has all the hallmarks of Mourinho’ situation @ chelsea. the big difference, our board have no balls to do what Abramovic did. Wenger has to step aside, he made errors in the summer(the only coach in europe that didnt buy a single outfield player) and that cost us 4 games. Now he sticks with a striker who hasnt scored and even looked like scoring for 10 games. Our main problem since Liverpool “SCORING GOALS”. Then fans are pointing finger at the Ramseys and Ox’ of our team its the so called worldies letting us down. Alexis has turned into… Read more »

Saud

Alexis hit the woodwork with his freekick in the 2nd half. So 3 total times Arsenal hit the frame of the goal against Swansea (Alexis 2, Giroud 1). Our finishing is abject at present but we were unlucky today.

Mootilated

Hitting the woodwork isnt unluvky. Giroud, for example, should have been slightly more composed that close to goal and not smashed it hoping for the best. He really should have scored. I know it happens to the best of the best but when you’re on a 10 game goal drought, I would expect better.

Nairobi_Gunner_49!

Comment: most of the the team has been poor but I pray to God we bever have to endure another season with Aaron Ramsey as a central midfielder. Not singling him out, but he is playing as poorly as denilson was at some point. Face it guys, he runs around and all but he has to be the least creative player we have ever had iin that position in a long time. And being a team that thrives on having a player who makes things tick in that position, it is no secret why we are struggling. worst thing is,… Read more »

Tarquin Farquar

Wisper it. Some including blogs think he is the Welsh Jesus. The team has steadily lost its way since he went into the middle. We can’t control the middle and leave huge gaps because he plays his own game. Ramsey and Theo are not good enough. I hope we can all agree on that now. The overall responsibility is Wenger and he has become stale. Change is needed.

Mark

Yes, it’s quite amusing how blogs describes a routine cross into the box by Ramsey as a ‘brilliant ball’ and also completely ignores his culpability on the first goal with his usual matador like defensive effort in midfield.

loose_cannon

“Not singling him out…” *proceeds to single him out*

Nairobi_Gunner_49!

Actually, I am singling him out, it’s a very important position,Arsene has built teams around that position in the past, Ramsey asked for that role publicly, he has been shit at it.
Number’s don’t lie.
Look at our perfomance stats with him in midfield.
No matter who you pair him with, flamini or Coq, he still performs poorly.

And when the midfield performs poorly, the whole team suffers.

so yeah, correction, I am singling him out.

Tarquin Farquar

Well owned and really well said. He needs singling out cos he clearly ain’t good enough. Denilson use to have more touches of the football than anyone, he was a waste of space as well.

Nairobi_Gunner_49!

Another thing is seeing how opposition rates us, swansea subbed in a player who had not made a premier league appearance in a year and was in his early twenties, at the emirates, versus the Arsenal…

Was that ballsy or do teams just know how mentally frail we are sometimes that a manager would make such a sub versus us at home?

Petits Handbag

Somewhere this morning there is a man smiling, because he believes he said it best when he said “get out while you can Joel”.
The fact he’s smiling is the saddest fact of all.

Goon

Look at the bright side, Theo didn’t start and we looked lively without him. I’m worried that there is no cech and kos for the next game. Sanchez is not back to his best but to me it was an improvement for his last performance.

Bush

I’m actually ashamed to call myself back fan we are a laughing stock

Bigafo

IN CASE THINGS GET BETTER AND THE GUNNERS FIRE ON TOP CYLINDERS, HOPE YOU WILL STILL STAY ASHAMED AND HIDE YOUR FACE IN THE BUSH!

AFTER ALL THE LIKES OF MAN CITY AND CHELSEA HAVE EXPERIENCED BAD PATCHES THIS SEASON.

REMEMBER ONE THING, LEICESTER HAS BEATEN OR DRAWN WITH THE OTHER 18 TEAMS, BUT NEVER WITH ARSENAL IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE. SO I STRONGLY BELIEVE LEICESTER WILL NOT BEAT ARSENAL TO THE RACE ON POINTS OR GOAL DIFFERENCE AT THE END OF THE SEASON.
MAYBE FOR THE FIRST TIME THE TITLE WILL BE DECIDED ON HEAD-TO-HEAD.

WATCH THE SPACE!

Bush

Well if Leicester don’t Spurs will we ain’t winning a thing

Red side

utter shite why is Wenger still playing Ramsey centre mid he leaves coq exposed all the time. I was a Gabriel fan but he’s a headless chicken , ozil got to be thinking what the fuck am I doing here , bunch of bottlers worst Arsenal team ever ??

WestSideGooner

If only Ramsey had the same urgency (or at least half ) tracking back as storming into the box to score, our defensive record would be better.

GraeGooner

Whilst I still don’t believe Joel is the answer, he was our best player last night and Sanchez was having a ‘mare – and no one in the ground could believe the substitution. At OT on Sunday Iwobi was brought on to recover a lost game and not Campbell. AW has lost the plot, not just the dressing room. Ramsey is not a creative midfielder, he is just a box to box runner. A Cazorla type is required (I say type because Santi is now getting past his best age). We have attacking full backs but no plans as to… Read more »

Meletios

On the other side, the so called media reporters are not very bright either if they missed the chance to question Wenger on Cmapbell’s substitution.

Neil Wells

Ramsey isn’t there to cover Coquelin. He is there to provide service to Ozil and Sanchez, which he did well. The problem was the wastefulness of Sanchez and lack of urgency from Ozil (and of course defensive frailty). Why do Arsenal fans always put blame in wrong place?

CarlosLA

The weakness up the middle that has been apparent for YEARS is the issue. Other than Ozil (who needs finishers around him to get the value), there’s not another single world class talent along the spine. There are plenty of complementary players. Last night was revealing just how debilitated the team was from Koscielny’s absence. He tends to get in trouble without Per’s big brain correcting his positioning, but he’s relatively strong in possession and can play a penetrating ball.

This is all on Arsene. We lost to the B squad of a relegation threatened club, and we deserved it.

Bigafo

WHAT HAPPENS IF ARSENAL BEATS TOTTENHAM AND ALSO BEAT BARCELONA 3-1; THEN WE START PRAISING WENGER AND THE BOYS. THE IMPOSSIBLE THEN BECOMES POSSIBLE.
I HAVE THE FEELING THE TITLE WILL BE DECIDED ON THE LAST DAY, AND ARSENAL WILL END UP WITH SAME POINTS AND GOAL DIFFERENCE WITH LEICESTER. HOPING THE LIKES OF TOTTENHAM, MAN CITY AND MAN U WILL BE LOMBARDED WITH MORE DRAW GAMES THAN EXPECTED.

STILL LIGHT AT THE END OF THE EMIRATE TUNNEL!

Hi-brid

Have you watched us play recently?

Meletios

Calm down buddy.
There’s always light at the end of the tunnel, but sometimes you just got into the wrong tunnel in the first place.

Canador

My dear, you missed the point. It doesn’t really matter if we beat those two teams or not, Wenger and the boys have lost it. You are simply dreaming like Wenger. The signs of what is going to happen today were there yesterday… all these problems are as a result of bad management on the part of Wenger. Most of us are beginning to realise that Wenger’s dream is a nightmare. He should do the honorable thing and resign. If he actually loves the club so much, he should know by now that his time is up. To be honest… Read more »

Malaysian gunner

Make sure this will be Wenger’s last season even if he were to win the epl.
The warning signs have been there all the time that Arsenal will self destruct.

Mpls

If we win the league. if, if. If we win the league. Not being rude, just saying it to myself in a daze.

But if we do, and Wenger is as smart as I and many others have given him credit for, he’ll move up or on. It’s what I would do in his shoes considering all of these years. And then I’d write that book he quips about from time to time. And hire some security.

Hi-brid

We have had some poor decisions against us and some bad luck with finishing, but those are an utter irrelevance when you play as poorly as that. A relegation threatened team coming to Arsenal, refusing to hang on for a draw but instead going for the win that is so obviously there for them, and then still looking for a third at 2-1 up tells you all you need to know. We look like frightened rabbits. The euphoria of the last gasp win over Leicester and the crowd staying to sing for 10 minutes after the end of the match… Read more »

This has been coning for along time.As far as i can remember we have put one really good performance in against man u at home which is over the course of a season not good enough.
Wenger is to rigid in his formation never deviating from 4-3-2-1 when something else id needed.
His favouritism stands out like a sore thumb as showed last night when taking off Cambell, his easy option.
Instead keeping on his usual suspects like Ramsey who is a very average player who for a goal scoring midfielder never looks like scoring.

Freddo

Got to play Alexis at CF and use the whole width of the pitch

Stillmatic

Finally someone else supports Sánchez as a CF.
He’s better centrally anyways and his whole schtick of cutting in to his right has been sussed out.

roof attack

it really is time for Arsene to go. i hope he quits at the end of the season to salvage some of his reputation. the last 10 years of his stewardship have been a roller coaster at best. does anyone have any realistic suggestions of a new manager to take over? i think that a proactive board would have gone for pep before city got their grubby little hands on him and moved wenger upstairs for the last year of his contract. i think the whole club needs a sea change of coaching and playing staff.

Siserio

Simeone

Stillmatic

Joachim Low?

Alexstratz

Wilshere and Rosicky could’ve been back up for Cazorla but who in their right mind would still stick with these players? I know who, the same kind of people who sticks with Diaby and wouldn’t buy an outfield player in the summer.

BODMAS

If Ozil want to leave he can leave because his having a nice season, Arsenal waited 2 seasons before he got this form, as for Wenger, let play defense first before we do counter attack or open play. Is even time the players have another meeting if they really want the league or not and dont put all the blames on Wenger. Elny should please pair Coq on Saturday. I want to see more of him.

Oly Odus

As a gooner i am surprised that a lot of us can’t seem to identify why this team has been suffering since the MEN of stature like Vierra left. Guys have a look at Kouyate of West Ham yesterday vs Spurs, if Wenger does not find another DM who stays PUT in front of the back four, has HEIGHT/battling qualities and loves to defend, our falling short will always persist no matter how much we tear our hair out. Kouyate at 6’4 was a tower in the middle of the park and at the back yesterday, neither Ramsey nor Coq.… Read more »

Should we also point out that Campbell assisted on Giroud and ramsey last goals?

A team without leaders. Is what we are. We’re having a very bad patch of form but just look at what United is doing with nameless kids. Just that makes me feel like throwing up. And the FACT that Sanchez should get some bench time to rest seems only us fans see. I love Arsenal. Wenger. Our screwed Players. Our philosophy. This light at the end of the tunnel might just be our way from the drainage to the pit.
