Who can save the Arsenal midfield? Xhaka can.

Ok, we’ll admit it, basically the only reason we’re writing this article is for the headline, but dammit it’s worth it. And it’s an Interlull anyway, we’re trying to give you stuff to read.

Via Sport Witness come reports from Germany that Arsenal have sounded out Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka for a summer move to North London.

Bild say that the Gunners have been in touch with the player’s father and an agent called Andy Gross, and suggest a €45m transfer fee is in the offing. There are also details of what the player will earn and more.

As well as that, they reprint a snippet of an interview Xhaka gave in January about a possible move to Arsenal and how his favoured number, 34, is already being worn by Francis Coquelin.

TF: What if tomorrow Arsene Wenger calls and wants to take you, but the number is already taken?

Granit Xhaka: It was also like that at Gladbach, with Amin Younes. And at Arsenal Coquelin has it.

TF: You’ve already called?

Granit Xhaka: Yes, I’ve spoken with him, he would like to take another number (laughs).

The player has also been linked with a move to Liverpool so if both clubs come calling you could say that Granit might be caught between a rock and a hard place.

Who can, in physical form, provide an answer to the frequently asked question, “What would it look like if Jack Wilshere and Cristiano Ronaldo had an inexplicable love-child?”

Xhaka can.

BuckNasty

Here we go again…hope for next season lol

SOWETO GOONER

if anybody can, Xhaka can!

Doesn’t Chuck a Can play for Newcastle? Or is that just the fans?

The rumours begin. I’m going into hibernation mode as soon as the season finishes.

I do this regularly, mostly to avoid Arsenal Fan TV and their despicable ‘Transfer Daily’ lol

G. X. picks red cards too often. Playing him is a gamble.

That article was worth it for the song alone. Give me Chaka’s singing over Beyonce’s shouting any day.

The bidding always starts from 40 million and 1.

“kan we kick it?…yes we Kan!
Don’t know much about him to be honest, but if we are being linked with him, he must be good….on a lighter side, If we do sign him, i can forsee many years of fun with his name, and of course if he turns out to be a success, a ‘chaka kan’ or ‘tribe called quest’s’ based fan song.

And the Arsenal spin machine goes into overdrive…
I don’t believe a word of it.

Guess I am a sceptic Arsene..

I think this deal will only happen if Wenger gets the Xhak.

Who better to have as our midfield rock than a bloke called Granit.

“I feel for you” would have rammed home the pun, securing a glorious online victory.

Granit for Arsenal? Poppy cock and boulderdash!

Crash Fistfight

Having watched a Youtube video of his talents I feel I am now fully equipped to give an accurate assessment as to his suitability as a new signing.

It is my opinion that he is good at playing association football.

He should be signed post-haste.

jamesinho

Is it just me or does he look freakishly like Jack Wilshere? #LANS

assistantref

That’s the plan. We are going to merge the two, to finally once and for all cure Wilshere’s dodgy ankles with an infusion of pure stone.

Xhaka Khan, Xhaka Khan,
I feel for you, I wanna be with you.

For once a music reference that doesn’t make me feel old – this one’s before my time!

Arsenal hurts

we will almost sign him during summer. he will almost play with the world class strikers we almost signed. suarez benzema higuain … n finally almost win the league.

My comment will probably be buried in all the Xhaka jokes, but I have another name who can be a good solution: Corentin Tolisso. Yeah… who am I kidding, LOL

I cannot express in words how epic that header is, blogs. *slow clap*

santori

Well, at some point, we will have to think of someone who can hold the ball as well as Santi does. Our little Spaniard should still enjoy 2 seasons of football at the top but he isn’t getting younger either. Wenger cannot afford to be too sentimental. Rosicky and Arteta should have been sold last summer. They would only experience more wear and tear issues. One more experience mid at that point would not have tipped the spending scale for us but would have added plenty of value in midfield. Instead we had to bring in Elneny whom to me… Read more »

Nice to see you have cut your post size down!
🙂

Jamie Vardinho

I don’t think anyone’s overhyped elneny as a world beater. Jury’s still out on him but he’s bought good positioning, passing and defending to a volatile midfield, which is why alot of Gooners are happy.

Can anyone describe the sort of player Granit is.

And what’s with these Kosovar Albanian lads and awesome names like Shaqiri and Granit Xhaka.

Erzengel

Pretty puzzling that one can dismiss Elneny after a mere handful of games and in the next breath cite as the player we really miss in midfield the terminally overhyped Diaby, a player never notable for his defensive abilities or ball retention and about as dissimilar to Cazorla as one can imagine…

KD

A midfield partnership of Granit and Coq you say…
The Coq and the Rock? Xhaka the Coq? What’s not to like?

KD

Add Jack the lad in there and you’ve got a trio of Rock, Coq and one smoking Wilshere

Stillmatic

How about Amin Younes?
Always found him an interesting prospect as a centre forward.

Found him in the mould of Messi (i mean stature, not ability of course). But haven’t much from him these days. Thought he’d be gone by now.

charley

only for the commentator to swear God Granit!! Xhaka misses again

Attackers will next season when facing arsenal be stuck between a Rock and a Hard thing
