Hector Bellerin has reiterated how happy he is at Arsenal, saying that he no longer feels like a rookie in the dressing room filled with experienced players.
The young Spaniard has made a fantastic breakthrough in the last two seasons and is now firmly established as the club’s first choice right back. He’s made his debut for Spain and has been attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe, but speaking to the official site he said he’s growing up in North London.
“I don’t feel like the young kid, like I probably felt the last time,” he said.
“It is nice to feel someone important and valued in the team, and definitely I’m really happy with my role in the team as well.”
Bellerin has to deal with competition from Mathieu Debuchy – although it’s believed Arsenal will let the French international go if the right offer comes in – and that’s keeping the 21 year old on his toes.
“We have a lot of experienced players and the boss always says that age doesn’t matter,” he continued.
“What is important is that you perform well when you’re on the pitch. Definitely we have really good defenders and a really experienced back four as well, and we’re really looking forward to this season.”
The Gunners are still on the lookout for an experienced central defender after the injury to Per Mertesacker, but at right back we look sorted for the foreseeable future.
