Giroud and Debuchy facing varying injury woes

Arsene Wenger says that both Mathieu Debuchy and Olivier Giroud have picked up injuries in the 3-1 win over Bournemouth today.

The right-back, making his first Arsenal appearance since November last year, lasted just 15 minutes before he went down wit h injury and was replaced by Gabriel.

“He thinks it’s a severe one,” he said. “Don’t go too far because I have to speak to medical people, but you can only assess it really after 48 hours.

“You have to let it bleed and after, usually they have an MRI 48 hours later to see how big the damage is.”

On Giroud he said, “In the first moment, he told me that he felt a twitch in the back of his hamstring and we will see. I hope it’s not too bad because he told me after that when he sprinted he didn’t feel anything.”

With the games piling up, we could do without anyone being sidelined for too long. No doubt we’ll find out soon enough, so fingers crossed.

Lucas coming back, yes?

Kampala gooner

I’m sorry seems this every one missed l. The unbeaten run. My ass it’s not for every dimwit to achieve. Like always they should mind the gap.

Bosscielny

Lucas in the midweek game then, I guess.

Doozer

When’s Welbz back?

Doozer

Err, genuine question, when is he back? Also, who thumbed me down for asking? Get a life you spursy dicks.

FrankTheTank

Debuchy, more like Debudiaby

Mattias Larsson

The number 2 curse…

PeteyB

Keep it away from Hector!

Big shame for Debuchy. Lad has a bit of a twat at times but he really isn’t getting any luck.

Bob Davis

Debuchy played well. Sad that he picked up an injury. He looked devastated. Hopefully it’s not serious for either of them.

I don’t think Wenger will risk Giroud and Sanchez on Wednesday for the EFL cup. I wonder who he’ll play up front?

Harsh

wheres’ Sanogo? 😀

Yeti

Bedouchy seems more appropriate

bonda

damn debuchy was growing so well into the game.

Ebo

I think it’s fair to say the Arsenal part of his career isn’t the one he’ll look back at most fondly.

Ebo

I was gonna say we might look back similarly at the Debuchy chapter in Arsenal’s history, but I doubt anyone will ever look back at that.

Inspector norse

To be fair he has been unlucky he was a good player wanted by quite a few clubs. Then injury, came back was assaulted by arnautobitch injured again it’s a little sad really. Yeah he did moan a little but i can kinda understand that, he desperately wanted to play a major tournament in his home country. And now possibly a serious injury again i feel a little sorry for him he is an Arsenal player afterall.

Little Mozart

Neither Debuchy nor Giroud deserve an injury, but that Debuchy one seems unbelievably cruel. He just can’t catch a break in his Arsenal career.

Really need Giroud for the winter fixtures though. Time to shine, Lucas!

Nacho Cheese Kalevra

Oh Cock!

bonda

can anyone list any traditional centre-forward who has been better than giroud for the past 2-3 years? can’t think of many

Holding Rob

Harry Kane. Diego Costa. Aguero. Lukaku. Sturridge.

ClockEndRider

Costa and Aguero for sure. The others – really?

Red Cannon

Even Costa is debatable. Costa was pretty crap last season.

Benkamp

Harry kane? Lukaku?? Better than giroud in the last 2-3 years? I dont think so. Hahahaha its ridiculous how some people think. How can anyone with eyes and a brain think that? Its incredible really. Its scary. I bet you also thought brexit and trump were great options for this planet. Haha

I rony

In the premier league or?
There is certainly a few. Aguero, Costa, Suarez, Griezzmann, Kane arguably, auybameang, higiuan, Zlatan and probably more. Again depends who you call a traditional forward.
But Giroud isn’t world class.
He’s different class.

Ebo

Aguero, Higuain, Suarez, Benzema, Levandovski, Aubameyang, Ibrahimovic (until this season)… and that’s pretty much it. I guess he’s safely in the top 10!

santori

Just when he decided to commit to coming back into the team…

Hopefully its just a small re-adjustment injury.

He offers more technicality to Jenkinson.

Dewi Mackenzie

Debuchy has been so unlucky in his arsenal career. Hope its not as bad as he thinks.

santori

Hope Giroud recovers quickly. Was impressed by his ‘pace’ today.

Good thing this weekend, we have made some day light to the Purs who have had their unbeaten run predictably blemished.

Kent Wagenschutz

Wasn’t sure I’d ever say that Debuchy looked great and his coming off slowed the momementum a good deal.

Espen

Unbelievable that Giroud who rarely play this season is getting a suspected hamstring injury.

Shank

Was at the game …..Debuchy was excellent
Fuck

Mate Kiddleton

What a backheel pass, absolutely gutted he did his hamstring on that

Godfrey Twatschloch

Giroud’s run to catch the ball that lead to the third goal. Fucking hell! Giroud the Giraffe!

Crusty Coq Soq

I will be the first to admit that Debuchy was not on my radar anymore. After the attempts to get himself sold and his attitude – I wrote him off. But he was putting in a solid 15 minutes there and we missed him when he was subbed. We missed Debuchy.

Corona X

What about Walcott?
Am I the only one concerned about that enormous icepack he was packing on the bench?!

Mhyk3

Debuchy is far far better than Jekinson. It’s painful that injury cut that short. I wish him quickest recovery. COYG

Bern pero

The extra with Giroud is in the buildups to goals , good skills and vision for a dumb striker !!

Goontang

To be fair, i only managed to watch the highlights of the game in australia. Saw the starting line up then all of the sudden i noticed Gabriel was on the pitch soon after.

My initial thoughts were fuck! Is it kos or mustafi whose gone off. I was actually slightly relieved to hear it was debuchy rather than those two.

Hopefully a quick recovery though. Sounds like he had a decent start to the game.

Pigeon Superstitions

He was bossing it down the right. Was quick in transition and attacked with pace and linked up extremely well with Sanchez for the duration he was on the pitch. There was a fluidity in our attacking play while he was on the pitch. I think the chaos and confusion that led to Bournemouth equalizing was partly caused due to Debuchy not being on the pitch any longer. Gabriel got better as the game progressed but let’s be honest, after Bellerin, Debuchy is currently the best right back we have at the club, and that clearly showed during his short… Read more »
