Narrow escape.

Fail to understand Wenger’s obsession with Ramsey. Has been and will always be a mediocre player with delusions of grandeur. Offered nothing to the team today – utter liability.

Did you not hear Chris Colemans words about him last week? It’s not just Arsene Wenger who see’s the quality. And do you think comments like this are in any way beneficial to anyone? He plays for us, there must be a reason for that, so can’t people forget the agenda and support the team in a positive way?

If The coach of a team filled with average players says it, it must be true. Yes Ramsey if above his Welsh team mates (bar Bale) but he’s not a starter for Arsenal.

I see where Coleman is coming from though – I think Ramsey is a guaranteed starter in many top teams at home and abroad, but I just don’t think our current suits him at all. In Liverpool’s team, for example, I think he would be outstanding. Similarly Oxlade Chamberlain would probably be awesome in Moses’ position at Chelsea, but struggles at Arsenal. Both are very good players in my opinion, but are unlucky in that they just don’t suit our current set up. Ramsey is a good player, just not for Arsenal

Denilson played for us he was shit as well. As was stepanovs sylvestre bendtner and lots of others. If their shit their shit I’m afraid and we have high expectations at the Arsenal

Bet you wasn’t saying that in the 2013-14 season.

His best positions are probably as no10 or a CM in a 3-man midfield with one DM, a similar position that Pogba plays. None of these positions are available to him at Arsenal because Ozil plays no10 and we can’t play a 3-man midfield with Ozil as he lack the physicality and Ozil is not going to be moved wide to accommodate Ramsey because that would be ridiculous. We were also a lot more attacking team in his successful season and he played higher up the pitch as a CM with a freer role. He is basically played out of… Read more »

Do you think, when Cazorla is absent and we can’t get the best out of our 4-2-3-1, that we could pull off a 4-1-4-1, with Xhaka or Coquelin the lone defensive shield and Ramsey playing alongside Ozil, with two wide men beside them? I think Ramsey and Ozil could really thrive off each other and create more problems for the opposition high up the pitch (with Ramsey still have the engine to get back and forth).

DG

I think till Santi gets back, we should adopt more of a direct approach, none of the CM at our disposal can dictate the tempo of the game. Starting with Giroud and belting in some crosses would be ideal. Without Santi, I feel our build up becomes toothless so having someone in the box who can head the ball gives the players options if the midfielders cant find the pass or space.

He has that smile on his face like he knew we got lucky. His substitutions paid off for sure and was glad to see him really go offensively with Ox at right back, but would like to have seen that move earlier. It does seem that Mourinho usually gets the best of Wenger with the tactics, but glad we were able to steal two points away from him at the end.

A crappy game indeed, Arsene.

The lack of heart and gut in the team today was hard to take. For me and the people that watch the game with me it was quite clear that the United goal would come. Why is Wenger a manger that reacts after the fact more often than not? Why not take Ramsey off when he showed no interest in helping Monreal out on the flank when it was clear early on that Nacho couldn’t handle booth Valencia and Mata alone? One of my favorites is Elneny but today he lacked in most things and when Rasmey showed zero desire… Read more »

Too Drunk To Be Offside

I think its important to keep Giroud involved in first team. He clearly still offers something.

Cech
Bellerin Mustafi Kos Monreal
Coquelin Cazorla
Sanchez Ozil Iwobi
Giroud

Thats the team. Walcott, Ox, can rotate with Iwobi.

Dawn

Agree Giroud should always start when 100%, but not have to play every single game in every single competition like he had to last season!

Cape Town Gooner

Sanchez should not have played. I don’t think Mohammed selection worked but I’m OK with it. But playing an unfit Alexis is just bad n discouraging to Giroud. You see he did not celebrate his goal that much. Wenger got it wrong there.

George

If Sanchez pulls up poorly after this game, then we only have ourselves to blame.

I still don’t get Ramsey on the left and I’m a massive fan of the Welshman. I can only assume Wenger didn’t think Iwobi was up to it defensively?

Xhaka should been there too and, again, maybe Wenger didn’t think he could keep his discipline? He’d have been a good foil for Pogba.

baz00r

It was obvious when the lineup was announced we weren’t going to have much going forward. The whole Sanchez up front thing doesn’t work if Iwobi isn’t on the pitch, it’s Iwobi/Sanchez/Walcott that works, not Ramsey/Sanchez/Walcott. For an away game of this magnitude I can’t understand why he didn’t start with Giroud up front since it gives you that outlet to at least slow the game down and take the sting out of the United attack during times of pressure. Sanchez had to drop so deep to pick the ball up today it was like we weren’t playing with a… Read more »

Iwobi Sanchez & Walcott started against Middlesbrough & Spuds!

Overall I am pretty pleased. We were sitting on our arses and trying hard but in the end … no poo.. To come away with a point with such a poo-less performance in a away game at Manure could be a point gained. Not sure if its just me but our work rate and willingness to get into their faces when we dont have the ball is very lacklustre. In this respect we carry Ozil anyway as he produces the goods when we are going forward, but dont think we can afford to carry anymore…Walcott, Ramsey etc. Corporal played well,… Read more »

Just play Giroud up front .. Sanchez on the left .. Ramsey on the bench .. and we will be fine

DG

Till Santi nurses his injury. After that we can revert back to how we started the season.

Samuel Ogungbayi

I have said it several times that Arsenal’s problem is not the playing staff but that of Player/Team Management. You don’t use the same formation that worked in the past without considering the players available to you. When did Ramsey become a left winger? He had complained two seasons ago that he does not like playing on the right wing ..When your team setup is faulty you get problems with proactive coaches that exploits it.Wenger sat down for 45mins. without his team recorded a single shot on target! No change in personnel or tactics on resumption of 2nd half .ManU was attacking… Read more »
