Hector Bellerin returns to full training ahead of Hull

Having been concussed last weekend against Chelsea, Hector Bellerin has had to go through the mandated GRTP (Graduated Return To Play) protocols this week.

We outlined these earlier in the week, and in order to be considered for selection this weekend the Spaniard had to tick all the boxes.

Stage 5 is return to full contact training, and Bellerin looks to have been fully involved in the session ahead of tomorrow’s game against Hull.

Arsene Wenger will have to make the final decision, but he’s clearly completed the required steps to push himself into contention for selection.

It remains to be seen what the Arsenal manager will do, but with his team in real need of a win after a desperate 10 days which saw defeats to Watford and Chelsea, having the dynamic Bellerin at right-back would certainly be a big help.

The other options are Gabriel or Carl Jenkinson, while there’s no news with regards the readiness of Mathieu Debuchy after his hamstring injury back in November.

As others have said, this seems quite fast for a concussion injury. But if he is truly fit and ready to go, then I’d love to see our Hector out there again!

The doctors know best. I can’t imagine they would have taken any risks.

Off topic, but does Merson do anything other than bash Arsenal and Wenger?

He’s definitely getting worse with each passing year. I can understand him being a bit disgruntled with the team, but to say only Sanchez would get in the Sp*ds side… I’d think he was joking if it was funny.

Nope

Take care of yourself Hector.

My problem with him returning for the Hull game is this. In training, the intensity of the duels wont be as much as it would be during a match. All the rough stuff and and physical battles against a relegation team will be much more intense and the risk is definitely more. Will he be 100%, I don’t think so and I don’t want him rushed at 80% or 90% and I say this because I’ve seen over the years, Arsenal players being rushed in early especially when the teams are not doing so well. I also don’t think it… Read more »
