No idea why Giroud isn’t playing, would be handy tonight.

We have Jenks & Debuchy surely one of them can play right back?

Theo up top?

It shouldn’t matter but inviting trouble.

I think Giroud is part of the problem as to why our team currently seems to lack ‘style’. Wenger is keeping him as a trump card, but it’s more important to get the team into a consistent shape while we have Alexis up top. The number of times we’ve relied on Giroud, and therefore failed to evolve as a team, I think is weighing on Wenger’s mind. Wouldn’t be my decision, but then again, I’ve never managed actual football players, and we don’t even know the whole situation. I don’t think Jenks or Debuchy actually have the manager’s confidence at… Read more »

Alexis is no good as a lone forward IMO. Alexis and team are better off with him on the left wing. On the left wing he’s able to attack and at the same time it allows him to track all the way back and stay with the action. I think he isn’t patient enough and compounds this with having little trust in his teammates to get him the ball. That messes with our form more then anything. Its great when we are playing against mid to lower tier clubs or undisciplined clubs. Against strong disciplined clubs his lack of patience… Read more »

Surely it mean Lucas in the middle. Would make a lot more sense.

Surely this would have been a perfect game for Debuchy to start?

Personally would have rested Mustafi & put Gabriel CB with Debuchy RB.

Got to be the carpet. Can’t be good for the big man’s toe. Hopefully he is not needed.

and 3 d on the bench?!?!

Should be plenty to see us through. Looking forward to watching Lucas, I think he’s been great for us every time he plays.

Leave Gabriel alone. Mustafi should have been benched for having been a total disaster in Munich. This is the area where Wenger’s leadership is weak.

Do we really need Elneny AND Xhaka in midfield? Surely Ox would be better bet to take game to them? No Plan B without Giroud? With plastic pitch long ball game could be useful with the big man up front? Lucas or Theo up front?

Lots of questions, headed up by – why am I so nervous?!

Either we win by a canter if we score early or in for a long night. Fingers crossed

I’m with the 700 odd gooners and we do feel odd btw Arsene has shown lots of respect to Sutton with this set up

Gabriel?! Seeing his name on a team sheet just makes me nervous these days. And … why on earth no Giroud – even on the bench?

God, I hope this goes well.

Walcott to score a double then claim “we’re back” and pose for numerous selfies in the changing room.

Decent squad but would have preferred that one of our two backup specialist RBs start over a backup CB playing RB. Do we need 3.5 defenders on the bench (Maitlamd-Niles being the half), surely we could have dropped one for Giroud?

And yes! Like everyone else “NERVOUS”!
Cup game. Still think it’s a strong team.
Could always bring on the OX and Sanchez .

Only surprise is Gabriel at RB. I thought with Jenks in the training pictures he might be on the bench …

I agree- that is hard to figure. Maybe watching out for his knee as well? The other part is having Debuchy on the bench – I’d have rather he started so we begin with a specialist RB and if something happens to him it’s not a position we just subbed on.

Two defensive central midfielders against a team 105 places beneath us. Nice one Arsene.

Elmeny will play like he does for Egypt. Not as 2nd DM.

I like this other than no Jenks. He would have had fun.

If watching the pre-game ceremonies and teams lining up to start on this pitch doesn’t bring a smile to your face, then you need to rediscover your love of football.
