Fears over Mustafi and Gibbs increase ahead of FA Cup final

Shkodran Mustafi has been a doubt all week for tomorrow’s FA Cup final, and the German’s chances of making the game look very slim and he doesn’t appear to have taken part in today’s training session.

It’s the final run-out before we face Chelsea at Wembley, and although he might have been doing some light training, players have to go through the GRTP (Graduated Return to Play protocol) before they’re allowed play again after a concussion.

In order to be cleared to play, they have to return to ‘full contact training’ and it now seems almost inevitable that the former Valencia man will miss out.

There was no sign of Kieran Gibbs either as he looks to overcome a thigh problem. His availability would help solve what is certainly an untimely defensive crisis ahea of such a big game.

For more on the injuries, and the final itself, listen to today’s Arsecast recorded live at Union Chapel last night.

Alright! Time to injure Gunnerblog now. That’s the only way we are going to get any positive news on the injury front. Fellow Londoners, get to work! 😀

James, it was unseemly to down-vote this smashing idea 😉

Rambozil

At least we have our excuse already in the bag…If we get a spanking, wouldn’t be surprised. If we win, words won’t describe the happiness. Either way, hope for the best but prep for the worst 🙂 COYG

Heavenly Chapecoense

The danger is that our players thinking the team has too many injuries and expecting to lose. We all know how strong they are mentally.

I have a great idea. Let’s play Ospina as goalkeeper during a defensive crisis. #genius.

Bad news obviously in terms of players missing but I don’t get the general sense of panic re: potentially reverting to a back four. I think the success of the three at the back has been overhyped. If we have both Ox & Bellerin on the right that might suit us well v Hazard.

Either way, come on u Reds ! Someone with a Ray Parlour special please.

Parisian Weetabix

I’m looking at Xhaka for that…

And yeah.. would love to listen to the.. it’s only Xhaka…….!!!!

Is John Terry playing? Cause I want to see him fall flat on his face for one more time! Legend, Captain..Bollocks!

He\'s got no hair but we don\'t care...

Fears over the fact the top 6 is already spending more like. Citeh have the Monaco player in for a medical and will no doubt tie that up quickly. Us? Maybe a mad dash on deadline day to sign an 18 year old Ghanaian who plays in in Ecuador.

Indian Gooner

That leaves us with BFG and Holding. The very thought sends shivers down my spine.??

The feckin mad old bollicks……….

a different George

The official site training pictures feature Debouchy and Jenks. No BFG or Gibbs. On the other hand, they have often shown players training who did not feature in the squad. And Bellerin and Ramsey are also missing, and there are no rumours about their being injured.

In other words, this means nothing, but I am definitely nervous.

Mpls

It’s too bad Debuchy checked out. He could’ve done a job on the right of a back three if he were still a legitimate footballer.

Rossi88

I’d play debuchy

santori

So :

Holding- Per- Monreal

Bellerin and Ox (invereted)

Not so sure about going to a 4-2-3-1 again with Per and Holding.
