Lacazette enjoying Sanchez partnership

Alexandre Lacazette says he’s enjoying his burgeoning partnership with Alexis Sanchez and says the Chilean’s passion for the game was one of the reasons he chose to join Arsenal.

The France international has outshone the Chilean so far this season – the new boy is the Gunners’ top-scorer with four goals and has registered more shots on target (eight) than his teammates – but he’s still been impressed by the ‘wantaway’ star.

“That’s also one of the reasons why I wanted to come to Arsenal – to play with players of [Alexis’] calibre,” Lacazette told Arsenal Player.

“Just seeing him in training, I like the way he plays and his mental attitude. His approach makes me want to play alongside him – hopefully for many years.”

On his start to life at the Emirates, he added: “I’m enjoying it. The Arsenal staff are excellent and they’ve helped me a lot. Also, the fact that there are quite a few French players in the club has made the transition much easier for me. On the pitch too, I feel a good connection with the fans, so overall I am very happy.”

The physicality of the Premier League is something Lacazette has been quick to notice and it’s a theme he expanded upon once again.

“The main difference is that the game is a lot more physical. The pace of the game is also very different. I now really understand what it means to play box-to-box.

“Things can move so fast that you don’t have time to catch your breath or think about the next move. As I said, though, the main difference is that the game is much more physical.”

Let him enjoy atleast for a year..!!

Gunner g

First, dislike if you want, but am first

IAmGooner

Nope.

Paul

Double loser. First for not posting something about the article and then not being first anyway.

Give us your views next time, I bet you have something more interesting than that to say.

DB10\'s Air Miles

If you ain’t first, you’re last!
Who cares anyway?

Dan Gunn

face palm

Alex

I wish you would have played with Özil, Alex, but well…

Martin

Ozil hasn’t left yet

Assshavin

funny, because Sanchez rarely played the ball to him, or anyone else, except maybe Iwobi. Must be annoying to play alongside someone who is always trying the killer pass or tries to dribble past 5 players, everytime they get the ball.

Martin

Do you really watch the matches? Alexis is only behind Ozil at creating chances.

Andy Mack

He didn’t make many successful passes to Laca but he did try quite a few.

Chris

Maybe to you, but as the article says, he enjoys it.

Someone

Still waiting for our gung-ho GOAL forward line. Giroud Ozil Alexis Laca.
Is it too much to ask, Wenger?

caligunner

We play with only 3 attackers so it would be hard to play with all 4.

Jose

Hence- calling it gung-ho… as in fuck were tied with in white shite lane and a goal will get us the title kind of scenario

Neil

BBC reported him suggesting that he’s going to try to convince Griezmann to join the Arse. That would be something.

Goonerink

i hope the return of costa helps, but i have serious doubts.
Though if he does join we will have 3 of france’s first team strikers. would make descamps job easier i guess!

santori

Yeah that would be ace. Soft power by Per brought Ozil to us. Naturally of course, clubs will have to still agree on price which isn’t easy given 7 or 8 clubs with better spending power and the hyper inflation in market. But its a step if it can be engineered. BUT I doubt we would see this till next summer. I think of the two, Wenger would prefer to keep Alexis to the very end. He may be tempted to sell Ozil in January if there is a viable buyer to reduce our workload next summer. If Alexis finds… Read more »

Trez

Griezmann is going to Man united or Psg. No way in the world would he join us

ramgooner

To be honest United are shit. They are just on a good run in front of goal. I hope Liverpool give them a thrashing at Anfield.

sixteen swans

Remind me who exactly Man United have played of note?

West Ham (16th), Leicester (17th), Everton (16th), Palace (20th), at home.

Swansea (18th), Stoke (13th) (draw), Southampton (12th), away.

That’s seven out of the bottom nine in the table. Admittedly, we’ve played some of these also. But we’ve also played both Liverpool and Chelsea away and anyway no one’s tipping us for the title.

Mourinho is a cunt and Man U hasn’t a chance of winning the title this year.

Lord Bendnter

Yes, Greizman will want to join Arsenal so he can “challenge for trophies”

catbiscuits

Griezmann at Atletico (2014-): zero trophies

caligunner

Yes because AM is at Real or Barca level. lol

Please have some context with a reply.

D.J.

Just make us a proxy for the French national team. They get to play together year round, we probably get better results, and we’d be popular both in North London and South Kensington.

santori

? Only up top with Lacazette and Giroud.

We are not proxy for the French team, there is only Koscielny and Coquelin other than that.

We have more British players.

caligunner

Why would he come here? AG is a striker. So is AL. Where or how would that work with context to how ARsenal plays in the 343 or 4231?

A different George

This story, as the Guardian pointed out, is a great example of how the press make something out of nothing. If you read Lacazette’s actual comments, it was quite obviously him kidding about Griezmann, who is his friend. He did not try to convince Griezmann of anything. We should keep this in mind next time we hear about Vidal and Alexis at Bayern, etc.

I am amazed we have heard nothing about David Ospina’s attempts to lure James Rodriguez–his brother-in-law–to Arsenal. You read it here first.

Vonnie

Considering his sister is divorcing James Rodriguez with good reason, I doubt it.

Duece

The ‘only a game’ blog was nicely put. A recommended read.

Man Manny

More accurately, it is “Only a game?” The question mark makes a whole world of difference.

Trez

If only it could last much longer. It’s such a shame that we’ll be loosing both Mesut and Alexis. It’ll take ages before we attract players of that caliber again. A project which has been destroyed by poor planning and inept coaching. Kroenke being majority shareholder was the worst thing to happen to this club. Dumb board members thought it’d be right to block off Usmanov only to give it to someone worse. The next few years at this club looks as bleak as ever

uhtred

Chill winston

Jean Ralphio

Well we are going to have to keep Laca happy. Hopefully he can convince Lemar to move

Vonnie

Pathetic script from the club, some of this stuff is such tripe the players must feel embarrassed having to say it. Alexis doesn’t have partnerships with anyone, he’s a totally self-obsessed player.

Cagooner

Vidal?

Andy Mack

Have Alexis and Vidal started talking to each other again?
They had a ‘falling out’ some years back, after that they only spoke on the pitch.
Maybe that’s changed now.

Martin

That’s why he has so many assists I suppose.

Deano

Better make the most of it, our two most creative and dangerous players will be on their bikes soon.

Martin

Is that part of their exercises?

Making Arsenal Great Again

He’ll enjoy the partnership with Griezmann and Lamer much better next year. So would the rest of us

caligunner

You watch alot of BARCA games?

I AM ARSENAL

Yet they only had 2 passes between the after an hour on saturday despite the fact we dominated the ball. I have noticed that Sanchez only seems to pass consistently to Ozil….and he seems to like Wilshere and Iwobi too.

db10s

Yes. I’ve been saying this for 2 seasons now. Which is why I think he should have been sold.

It’s weird how he’s our best player but he makes the team less efficient overall.
The number of times he opted to pass to ozil instead of a walcott/ox in a better position I’ve lost count. I am not saying he doesn’t ever pass to them. I know his stats and what I am saying contradicts it but can you imagine how good our team would be if he just trust his teammates more?

Trez

He loves Iwobi and Akpom apparently. Calls Akpom “Henry”.

Martin

Then how come he has so many assists last season?

db10s

i did say I am aware of his stats.

My main point is that if he trusted his teammates abit more, he would possibly have even more assists and/or we may move the ball quicker and that equals a better Arsenal team as a whole.

e.g when he has the ball and Ramsey/Theo/Ox(formerly) and now Laca make good runs, odds are he’ll try to take on players or take a shot on and lose the ball. The only players that seem to get good early passes from him are Ozil and to a lesser extent Giroud and Welbs.

Mikey

He will be a quality striker for us eventually. As is always the case though, we’re always that one or two players short. When it clicks Lacazette, Sanchez and Ozil can be one of the, if not the most deadly forward line in the prem. Ozil and Sanchez will be gone before they get there though. Then we’ll have some new guys and when they’re ready, Lacazette will be ready to move on to win trophies. Rinse and repeat

ChrisGoona

If anyone expects Laca to slate a teammate in public then there is something not quite working up top. He is being polite. I think it was quite telling he deliberately chose to shoot while Alexis had an open goal. Laca is not a selfish player, clinical, but not selfish after seeing him repeatedly pass to teammates who are in even a slightly better position. He has great awareness of those around him. As great as he is, it is quite obvious that Alexis has been playing for himself for a while. He passes to certain players who will give… Read more »

db10s

Yup. Same point i made above.

It’s not always a bad thing but to me it’s something like 5 out of 10 opportunities to play an early ball to a better positioned “lesser”teammate, he’ll choose to try to dribble it or take a shot or as you said play an “impressive” show pass. It’s world class when he pulls it off and it leads to a goal or a shot but more often than not, it leads to the attack slowing down or a missed opportunity for a through ball.

Alexis is Alexis

Alexis has always been the same. Fans are noticing this trait more now because it’s easier to stomach our best player in a while leaving if he’s flawed in some way. This same trait of shoot first is one we praised as fans previously, we said, “finally someone willing to have a go, not just trying to score the perfect goal”.

db10s

Well.. I’ve noticed more and more over the last 2 seasons. It just became more apparent that he prefers passing to selected players.
