Giroud set to miss Liverpool game with hamstring strain

Olivier Giroud is out of Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Liverpool on Friday night.

The French international picked up hamstring strain in the 75th minute of the 1-0 win over West Ham which sent the Gunners into the semi-finals next year, but the win was marred somewhat by the injury to the 31 year old.

Although he was unlikely to have started, he has often shown his prowess at coming off the bench to score late goals — in 2017 he has 10 strikes to his name after the 80th minute of games.

Speaking afterwards, Arsene Wenger confirmed the injury, saying, “When you listen to him the pain is quite big.

“It doesn’t look very good for him.”

There was another injury scare when Francis Coquelin was forced off late in the game, however Wenger was more positive about him, revealing that it was cramp rather than anything serious.

Like Giroud, he wouldn’t have started against the Mugsmashers, but at this time of the year – and with Aaron Ramsey already out until January – we could do without missing another midfielder.

Get better soon you big, handsome bastard!

I can’t be bothered to care anymore… not about Giroud, not about Wenger… this is what he has done to me

I AM ARSENAL

Hopefully not his last game..Guy gets alot of criticism but like Mertesacker you have to consider how good they are despite unreal physical setbacks…Both as slow as shit but Giroud still has great movement and the ability to find space while Mertesacker even in his worst games only gets skinned once or twice.

Goonerrific

Why on earth would it be his last game?

Cagooner

Cos January is right around the corner and he’s making noises…….

Goonerink

True, but wenger is the only manager who signs players in january with long term injuries

he’s demanding playing time and thats alright, he is focussing on the world cup. Also Didier Dschamps recently said in an interview that he don’t think it will help giroud to get a first place in national team, if he gonna move somewhere else. and i think so too. he would need time to settle, although i think he would easily crack the 20+ at dortmund, per example. AND he has contract…… y would we let anyone with these records go? there is no point for arsenal to make such a deal because we wont cash 25m+ and theres no… Read more »

mark my words. World Cup 2018 Final France-Sweden 1:1 regTime 119. Olivier to win the WC after comin from the bench with a tremendous strike from at least 20 yards.

Merteslacker

We definitely gonna need him for the January semifinal games so no way we’re selling him.

I don’t care how funny sounding the cup is, a trophy is still a trophy and one that we should be able to capture when you consider Man city running away with the league

SB Still

Liverpool got lucky, that Giroud wouldn’t be around to add gloss to the win.

However it would be brilliant if Giroud does a Lacazett with the recovery.

Let’s hope the outcome will be different this time
