Wenger reveals team news for BATE Borisov clash

Arsenal face BATE Borisov in their final Europa League group game tomorrow night knowing that top spot has already been secured.

It could give Arsene Wenger some licence to experiment with his line-up, and the manager has provided the latest team news update ahead of the game.

Speaking at a press conference at London Colney this morning, the Frenchman said, “Everybody is available. We have a small problem with Mustafi from Saturday.

“A little thigh problem, but it’s a small one. It’s a possibility, if not Southampton it’ll be West Ham.”

“Not too much because I have many players who need competition, because we go into next week, another week with three games.

“We’ll play tomorrow with quite an experienced team.”

Wenger confirmed that both Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott would start, the latter returning after a period of illness.

Is Nutaif, Mustafi’s new name. You eff one goat, so on and so forth.

Pakgooner

Blogs, did you mean Mustafi instead of Nutaif?

Man ETH

Bloody auto-correct

Santori

He might ghost t not make mistakes this New Nutaif fellow..LANS

Shashwat

Nutaif is actually doing well after his return, albeit the mistake which cost the game on Saturday.

No One

Nutaif?

Midgunner

Dammit Nutaif out again!? Fucking injury gods.

Russ

Yes, put Theo in the shop window. Clubs Christmas shopping etc ?

Homer

Interesting comments on Theo (and not just here – and I don’t mean to offend, Russ, but it kinda reminds of something I’ve been thinking lately). People seem to all of a sudden think Theo is crap, which is incorrect. 2016-17, 37 appearances 19 goals. 2017-18, 10 appearances 3 goals. A couple injury ravaged seasons, and before that 21 goals in 43 appearances. These are quite good efficiency rates. But its easy to slag the man off. He’s not an Alexis or Lacaz type player. And too much hype too early with that 2006 WC fiasco. But he serves a… Read more »

He is overpaid, substantially. If he wasn’t on the payroll we’d likely to be able to extend the deals of either Ozil or Sanchez by giving them a £130k a week rise. Instead we have Theo Walcott, that is my primary issue with him still being here. Sub-issues relate to the fact that he is a very average, injury prone and one dimensional footballer

bob davis

True, there was the cup game where Eddie came on as sub and scored. Walcott was missing for the whole game. Should have never of offered him a new contract when he demanded his increase in wages.

Berlingoon

Yeah, most of the fans had that opinion at that time. That’s probably why the entire stadium sang the “sign that thing” song and slated the club that we haven’t managed to extend his contract earlier. But you were surely one of the guys that would have said “good decision” when we would have sold him at that time. Hindsight is a good thing, isn’t it?

Hereford Gooner

I don’t think anyone in the stadium would’ve been chanting that song if they knew it would be at a cost of £130k a week (I have a feeling that made him out top earner at the time, probably is still in the top 3). People may have wanted ox to sign a new contract, but would those same people have wanted him to stay for £180k a week? Walcott got what he could, and fair play to him for that. But I for one believe there is a gross margin between his ability and what he is paid, and… Read more »

I think hindsight does distort what reality is. He is “only” getting 110K a week I believe with less then 2 years left. Yes, that is alot of money now compared to what he has become but when he signed I think Arsenal was signing on potential still. What he could potentially become as a player. He was at that moment doing great. We could all see maybe he was turning the corner. Of course reality is he didn’t for whatever reasons and we see him now as dead weight since he can’t even make it as a sub especially… Read more »

“…would those same people have wanted him to stay for £180k a week?”

These are the people who say it’s not their money, they don’t care and the club is being too stingy agin. Just “sign da ting!”

Santori

Which is why its hard to sell him.

Russ

Absolute fair comment but I believe it would be best for both club and player for him to move on now. I wish him all the best but I’m not sure we’re the club for him anymore.

ronaldo

good news about jack, shame about walcott

Wenger: Mustafi has got a little bit name problem. He should start running outside again in three weeks’ time

Santori

So that’s why he went off!

adgonner

This was written on a phone?

nelsonCOYG

I got no problem with an experienced team, but please please give nelson, nketiah or maitland-niles a chance to play in their correct position.

Santori

I think the forthcoming leave game dictates some rotation…experience players on periphery us what Wenger is suggesting… So Giroud who clearly has to impress Deschamp will be eager to add more goals(spectacular ones if possible) Walcott whom we have to up value if we should want to sell him. Even Welbeck(who is less sharp than Giroud) can benefit from playing time I expect at the back Per will be utilised. Also Debuchy(another potentially in shop window whom we may still have to rely on as back up) In midfield Jack. There’s also Coquelin and Elneny That’s most of the line… Read more »
