Sp*rs 1-0 Arsenal – player ratings

Another away day ended in disappointment as a dreadful second half performance saw Arsenal go down by just 1-0, but in truth it could have been more.

A succession of great chances were either missed or saved by Petr Cech, and on the day the home side were worthy winners – and that hurts to say.

Here’s how the players rated today.

WengerOut (Former \"Media Hates Arsenal\")

Arsene Wenger has to go , as simple as that.

Southpaw

Stan Kroenke laughs sarcastically under his mustaches while counting his dollar bills.

dr Strange

He won’t laugh when the next generation of football fans chooses the Spuds instead of Arsenal. That will hurt his pockets.

SuperNova

What are you on about mate

Yellow Ribbon

I totally understand what you are saying but trust me this will be just like a silver lining without any trophies in their age old history. Once all their players and manager start to leave one by one.. it will be all back to normal!

Faisal Narrage

Man some of you guys just live in denial. For years, many have been warning about Spurs closing the gap, and too many fans simply buried the heads in the sand and said “they’re shit, we’ll always be better”. The they closed it and fans were like “nah, they’ll never get close, they’ll spurs it up”. Then they finally finished above us, and all I heard was “Mind the gap, it’s only once. They’ll return back to where they were”. Now it’s pretty much accepted they’ll finish ahead of us this season, the new clutch is “once their players and… Read more »

Thaigoon

I hope we were in Pools situation. Both Klopps game and plans are far more exciting

Yellow Ribbon

I don’t think they have the resources as a club to be that successful in the long term. What they have right now.. all just fell into place.

GUN

They have top players, getting into CL places, building a stadium with as much capacity as ours and above all, they have an awesome manager. Don’t live in denial.

Mpls

Good manager for now. He won’t be there long.

Coolhand

While we have a manager who is no longer good but will probably be here for ever.

Henrypiresberg

That’s where we have reached that we are hoping them to become weaker rather than Isb growing stronger. End of the world.

Tankard Gooner

This is his project. I’m afraid he’s here for the moment. At least.

Ozenal

Liverpool have been building the squad. We are just trying to keep our heads above water every transfer window. Big difference. Goes to show what some proactivity can do for a club. Still no idea why the board continues in the way that it does.

North for Short

What do you mean Liverpool? surely you mean Southampton youngsters!

ArsensArmy

How Wenger failed to add a proper CB during the January transfer is unforgivable. Team still has no mettle and no spine. Not a scrapper in the bunch. Have fun with your shiny new toys.

BenG

They have still only win fuck all. Not a great manager with an empty trophy cabinet

SharpasFc

It’s all about perception these days and you know how the media love to bash Arsenal. The Board have made us a laughing stock and the manager is making us a laughing stock…and the players….I love to take the mick out of my husband who is a Sp*rs fan but today he had the last laugh. He says if Sp*rs win the title he will die from a heart attack, but the way we are playing there is more chance of him outliving me and me never seeing us win a PL or CL championship.

Reality check

We lost to a better team fair play.. but some are going a bit over board. Please remind me how many trophies have they won? Recently or in the past?. To say that they are suddenly better than us is streching it too far. They are a better team atm, no doubt, because we are in a rebuilding phase, it’s an end of an era, the backroom has been completely revamped and the rest will go when Arsene will eventuality leaves (soon – fingers crossed)… so hold on, we’ll be back soon. We are sleeping giant, a very attractive proposition… Read more »

ArsensArmy

Quit burying your head in the sand. That just didn’t fall out of the sky. It’s hard to admit I know. But that is the reality. Spuds are better than us currently. It helps that they have a competent manager as well. I just can’t support Wenger anymore. Anywhere else and he would be sacked.

Sean Juba

Totally agree. Whilst our new signings were great it’s like putting shiny alloys on a car with a fucked engine. Sp**s have overtaken us and we are regressing whilst they continue to progress. I feel unclean even saying this but it’s true. Last weekend, enjoyable as it was, said more about Everton not turning up than us being a top team. We really missed Rambo today but he won’t and can’t be a midfield general which is what we need. I defended Wenger for a long time – too long in retrospect, but for gods sake man GO!!! We could… Read more »

Michael Bolton Wanderers

That’s so true. And sad. Now I’m depressed

Easy tiger

Are you talking about Spurs or is,?

Richardb

Yes and once some of our players leave as does the manager we will be back to normal too .

non flying dutchman

aint no one by one about it… Poch will go to Real and take the key members of their squad with him.

Bonjour

It’s happening here in Asia where I live. 10-15 years ago you would see kids wearing Arsenal shirts at street games: Henry, Bergkamp, Fabregas whoever. Now you don’t see that anymore. You see kids wearing Kane, Alli, Vertonghen.

I’m one of if not THE STAUNCHEST Le Proof brigade, but what the bleeding holy fuck was that, huh?

Even the 1.5l of Beer that I was ‘consuming’ while watching our ineptitude performance was clearly not enough for me. Especially since I got home and I’m typing this bitchass negative comment almost 2hrs after that damn match. ?

Mayor McCheese

This is great. Trying to imagine what sorts of high jinks one might get up to in Le Proof Brigade, but I’m sure it involves plenty of Bacardi 151.

Also, ‘consuming’ had me in stitches.

Nketibag

This Lacazette situation is an absolute joke. He is totally broken from months of being hauled off every single game on 65 minutes, playing well or not, having scored or not. He started the season very well yet Wenger has now bought a replacement, and expects him to come on with 15 to go and win him the game. Talk about not making someone feel wanted, welcome or trusted – it’s just fucking appalling management.

Luke

The managers got to go and we should start both of the Strikers together and take one of the holding midfielders out they’re both useless anyway

Riku

If we want to be a club challenging for the league and champ league , we need two top class strikers, and they want to be ready and on the ball, you don’t see at Man City Jesus starting and Sergio agaugers not able to come off the bench and perform or vice versa because their upset or confidence knocked ,it is a long season both will get games, or at bayern Munich lewendoeski starts and muller comes off the bench.or vice versa

Nketibag

I don’t argue with that. But the way he has been treated so far is hardly going to get the best out of him is it?
Center forward is a confidence position and if you want real competition for places you need in form, confident players.
You don’t see Lewandowski getting hauled off on the hour, and you don’t see Bayern buying a replacement within 6 months.

Riku

Munich probably would not , but city or Man Utd would. Buy a replacement after 6 months.
I rememe Ber re when wenger had bergkamp’henry Henry Kanu and wiltord and they all played well and happy some on bench some of time. But all stepped up when on the pitchy even if only got ten minutes. Even tried harder to impress and contribute. Alexander will get his 90 minutes in the important europa league games

Sean Juba

Arshavin mk2! Remember how ace he was at the beginning Andrew how broken he was when he left

SharpasFc

He even called one of his children Arseniy…which is both sad and true!

Don’t worry, as soon as we beat some poor team everybody here will downvote you. But we all know that the current manager makes most good players look horribly average

ronaldo

wenger will go when he wants to go, until then we are stuck with him

gooner of Oz

You can look at every single aspect of our game and see a huge arrogance behind it. Only good things you ever find in this team is some flicks players running fast or few top saves. A team that hasnt been couched properly for very very long time.

Dave47

I hardly think better sofas are gonna help mate

Faisal Narrage

If anything, the manager is clearly too comfy.

ClockEndRider

No, no, not the comfy chair.

Sdrawrof

Know what I mean, nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more

Mayor McCheese

Typical armchair fan.

Deano

Bonus rating summed it up perfectly.

Thaigoon

Nothing can sum all these post-Highbury misery

Robert Zimmermann

Couldn’t be arsed today

Glasgow Gooner

You can take the change from old Bob there

George

Here we are. Standing tall in the league next to Burnley and Leicester.

Bob bimmermann

Couldn’t be arsed today

Martin

it’s 100% accurate to state that we are in a worse state the when Wenger arrived. Players are nowhere near the level we had in 96. Therer no doubt in my mind that there is no defensive unit as bad as ours in the top flight. A tiny bit of pressing on the back line and they crumble. If Wenger is still in a job next season it will be shameful.

Superfrog

1-0 defeat away against a team ahead in the table preceded by a 2-0 comprehensive win against them , your comments are not justified at all and a tad biased against the manager of the team you support ….

McArsenal

Rubbish.

Arsenal were as bad today as they were good at the Emirates. That is deeply concerning.

We are on course to finish outside the European places unless we win the Europa League, and to fail to finish above Sp*rs yet again.

To fail to be concerned by the current state of Arsenal is simply to have blind faith, and that is not being a true supporter.

ArsensArmy

The only thing worse than the shit show at the emirates is the shit show going on in the White House here in the states.

Kwame Ampadu Down

Yay, we beat them 2-1. Who cares they’re 7 points ahead of us with a much better goal difference after finishing 11 points ahead of us last season. Who cares they’re better to watch than we are ? Who cares they have young players that they could command huge fees for ? Who cares that they’ve done all this on much smaller budget than ours? We beat them 2-1 !

ClockEndRider

Ozil, Wilshere and Aubameyang vs Helder, Hillier and Hartson ? You clearly weren’t around in 96 mate.

John C

Very selective trio you’ve picked there, but I’d take Seaman, Adams, Keown, Bould, Dixon, Winterburn, Platt, Bergkamp, and Wright over their equivalents at the club now

John C

And Parlour and Merson

Ozenal

No idea why people are Wenger bashing. Pretty clear he has had the rug pulled from under his feet. Five players out and only two come in. None of them defensive.

Then Sven effect will only come to fruition in a few years, it seems we have gone down the young potential with some top flight experience.

This is actually classic Wenger strategy from when he first joined. Only difference is that this board just doesn’t get the deals done.

Kwame Ampadu Down

Yeah ozenal cos if Arsene had control of incoming players we all know he would bring in players to solve our defensive issues? Ffs.

David Hillier\'s luggage

I’m sorry, but the opening part of your comment is preposterous. Sure our defence is crap, and we’re not in great shape, but Rioch’s side were not good – we scraped into the UEFA cup places on the last day in an era before sheikhs & oligarchs blew football’s hierarchy out of the water. Behind the scenes the club was in a mess too, Rioch wouldn’t sign his contract, Graham had just been sacked for taking back handers, Wright wasn’t speaking to the manager while Merson & Adams were having stints in rehab.

assistantref

Two glorious chances for Lacazette to show he’s not a busted flush, fluffed both of them…kinda sums it up.

I dunno what we did to the guy, but he looks totally broken.

Superfrog

That’s football , think in statistical terms , how many chances do you need to create to get 1 goal ? 2 chances and misses , is well within what top class players should be expected to produce … How many chances did Kane have to get his goal?

Sandman

QFT. Fuckin’ Kane could have had a hat-trick seriously.

Nketibag

“I dunno what we did to the guy”
Are you serious? It’s as clear as day. Imagine your boss hires you , then continuously takes you off projects and gives your work to someone else, no matter how well you do. Then he hires another person to do your job, all within the space of 6 months. Oh, and make sure the whole world knows about it as well. Bloody ridiculous.

caligunner

You know of this would be a probblem if Laca just have been more clinical over the last x amount of games. He hasn’t. It doesn’t matter about the service he gets or not. He’s suppose to be world class or right below it. He’s on a horrible run and if it was Wenger decision or not to get Auba he is clearly better on paper. We need that.

T. House

What does Xhaka contribute? Overrun in the midfield all day, which he was tasked with controlling. And today was his best case scenario performance: no obvious defensive lapses.

He needs to sit.

Theo the Friendly Ghost

His passing percentage is high because his first instinct is to look backwards. Brings nothing to the team, slow and boring.

McArsenal

He’s a bit like a poundshop Gerrard. Capabale of the occasional Hollywood pass, but doesn’t impose himself, doesn’t tackle well, and doesn’t create chances.

Thaigoon

Give him to Guardiola and youd have to eat all these words, central players are so dependent on team instructions matching partners and tactics. Xhaka has some top notch pinpoint pass accuracy a strong left foot and upper body and great vision too

loose_cannon

Guardiola is a great manager but tbf he’s not a magician…

loose_cannon

Saying that I think he could improve a player like Iwobi who needs (a) a proper position and (b) some strict tactical advice. What also baffled me was why Iwobi was in the middle while we kept Ozil out-wide where he was so ineffective.

Goonerink

So does ozil but even ozil doesn’t LET people past him

Thaigoon

Doesn’t Ozil get the stick more so than anyone else?We get quality players we get excited and then we’re disappointed and blame them for not satisfying our expectations. without wondering why theyre flopping only while in our jersey

Art Van\'Delay

You’re pissing in the wind Thaigoon. This mob’d burning books in Germany and hanging witches in Salem.

Obama Young

On their goal, the Granite Jogger didn’t close down Davies, just stood off him, stuck out one leg and literally half-assed it, halfway turning toward the cross instead of challenging him. The cross was perfect and they scored.

On he play where Kane had the volley that Cech parried, Jogger was next to Kane, then left him all alone and wide open to get the cross. Luckily, Alli missed the rebound or it would have been another goal from a switched-off Jogger.

Coolhand

Maybe Xhaka got booked so many times in his first season he’s now afraid to tackle anyone.

Mayor McCheese

Granite Jogger! Priceless.

Greg in Seattle

And if you think Ramsey would’ve defended either play better, you’d be mistaken. Ramsey’s defensive instincts are worse despite his superior athleticism. Not saying Xhaka is great. We just don’t have great options.

I like Wilsheneny behind Ozil. I do not like Xhakaneny behind Wilshire.

Southpaw

“… and this is on Arsene Wenger. We’re in February and he still hasn’t found a solution”
its actually fuckin 2018 and he still hasnt found a solution for our 2008 problems

Sandman

? Arsene seems like he will be better suited for a life as a genuine ‘leader of the masses’ than as a….manager of a football club. FML.

Shitbird

Well, Laca will get a chance to atone in the EL, won’t he?

PeteyB

He’ll have to since we’re not going to make the top 4.

Ted

Won’t be surprised if Wenger starts Welbeck there instead. Did you see Wenger’s reaction after the Lacazette late miss? He might not play him for a long while knowing Wenger

Stephen

Ozil had to drop behind defenders to get the ball passed to him. Incredibly harsh rating seen as he was trying to fill in for Xhaka and Elneney’s ineptitude. Also Xhaka will always have a high passing rate because he passes back and side to side.

Neal

Well said – I’m weary of the ‘poor defence’ comments – they do OK, given they’re horribly exposed by Xhaka and later, Iwobi. Elneny is adequate, but tries his best. Should have kept Coq as there’s not much else on the market.

Ainsley\'s mum

Looked up his passing and he made more forward passes and more passes in their final third than Wilshere did. Xhaka is an easy scapegoat but he was not the problem today.

Greg in Seattle

Totally agree. I was far more disappointed in Mhki, Jack, Auba, and Nacho on the attacking end. They were poor on the ball and completely out of sync on the counter. Ozil to an extent but he was shunted out wide where he’s never used to maximum effect. We are going to have to outscore teams, and frankly we should. Not to minimize our weaknesses but harping on the defense after this game seems pointless. We could’ve given up more but OTOH the ball to Kane was inch-perfect, and Auba was near enough to level on Jack through ball that… Read more »

Ant

You may want to check the passing map for Xhaka before spouting incorrect statements.

Atom

I like the formation and largely think we should stick with it until summer when we can buy a proper dm. We just don’t function with a 2 man midfield and the 3 at the back really doesn’t help us defensively anyways. Chech kept us in this game but it’s obvious that we need to upgrade on chech, kos, xhaka/Ramsey / el neny this summer and need a new winger (Malcom maybe) who can bring something different than just having 2 creators on the wings

Mkhi Most

Add a new manager to that list

Northern Gooner

New manager too. Without a new manager, we’ll keep on failing in the same way, over and over again.

Grumpy

Strategy and Which gap needs to be filled has been going on for10 years.
The boss needs to go, simple. We need a more fiery and ambitious manager.AW is too comfortable taking Arsenal backwards

Ted

Carrasco, Malcolm, Di Maria, Zaha, Bollasie, Anthonio all these will improve us. Too many inside playing midfielders we need wide men. We haven’t replaced Ox

Greg in Seattle

Buying all of that in one window is a pipe dream. We need to answer the fundamental question of whether Maitland-Niles is superior to Elneny right now, and whether his ceiling is as high or higher than what we could buy. He really needs runouts at CDM vs low and mid table teams.

Robbo

Are you saying we are missing the ox

Rwandan gooner

Wenger killed Lacazette. His confidence is in ruins

Thaigoon

He ruined himself. He knew the consequences when he signed for Wenger, so does Auba

shokim

I’ve noticed Arsenal seldom perform at lunchtime kick-offs, which has been proven yet again.

NY Gooner

Rain.

Clock-End-Mike

Someone else has noticed Arsenal just don’t like playing in the rain! I’ve thought this for some time now. It’s weird, but it seems to be true. My heart fell when I saw the weather — just a few miles away it was fine — and I just knew we were in for a disappointment.

SharpasFc

The list of things that affect our performance is getting longer…time to accept we’re just not very good!

shokim

Wasn’t it drizzling when we played Everton last week?

Mkhi Most

You’re clutching at straws when you blame the rain

Mayor McCheese

Classic Milli Vanilli.

Ross

I thought a little harsh on the defence who battled hard under long periods of pressure. For me the midfield was the glaring issue. We couldn’t pass or retain possession at all today especiallly second half. Ozil was about as bad as I’ve seen him and elneny/Xhaka is a championship midfield

GraeB

Yet defence still incapable of jumping at crosses, too often waiting for ball to drop. Also every ball to back post finds players unmarked.

Greg in Seattle

Agreed. We are not built to soak up pressure for 90; those are not the types of defenders we have. At some point one of the 15 or 20 balls into the box will find its way home.

Also…Ozil just can’t be imperious from the wing. I hate when he’s shunted out there where his strengths are minimized. He becomes an ok player, not a world-class CAM pulling the strings.

dr Strange

Cech 7: another huge error but overall solid. Bellerin 6: worked hard but poor crosses and some sloppy defending. Kosh 3: Poor at reading the game, that used to be his main attribute. Lacking awareness and pace, his other main attribute. Mustafi 4: Lunging around and putting his teammates the shit way to often. Monreal 5: Was decent and had some good runs forward but he was out of sync with the back four. Elneny 7: Good, worked hard and was one of the only ones concentrated on the task. Should have stayed on instead of Xhaka. Xhaka 2: Nothing… Read more »

Clock-End-Mike

Some good points. Don’t understand why Elneny was subbed rather than Xhaka. I miss Giroud (well, last year’s Giroud, anyway). No idea what’s happened to Lacazette. I can see why Welbeck went on, we needed a goal, but he’s just out of form — he needs more time on the pitch, but the way he’s playing, we can’t afford it. Who else is there? Nketiah?

Xhakalaca

Ozil and Mkhi were not allowed the freedom in the first half, that must have resulted to no movement for the attack. Lacazette should have atleast had those chances on target atleast, Auba would have done it if he was in his place.

phimagen

They both were pants in the 1st half, too.

Billy Bob

Ok so Miki ended up on the opposite flank to the one he played on against Everton!!! Perhaps it should have been abua up front, Ozil behind, Laca left and Miki right with Wilshire and Elneny cm?

Yellow Ribbon

Lacazette does seriously look lost and that is worrying. Today was his chance to prove himself and boy did he fail at that spectacularly!

Ted

Why must he have to prove himself when the team is behind and struggling? Can’t he also enjoy games like Everton? He came into Arsenal at a bad time when everyone is angry and impatient.

Awmyth

Giroud did that match after match.
Somebody has to be a supersub, now that he has left.

phimagen

I pumped Iwobi up from 1 to 2 for the pass. For the rest, I was not sure which side he was playing for, although the red shirt let me suspect it was for AFC. Can anyone confirm?

True gunner

Iwobi did best for a lazy and weak Arsenal team.

GraeB

Iwobi is like a puppet – when he gets the ball, the arms are lifted, the head wobbles, there’s a feel of panic and, more often than not, a pass backwards.

Mpls

I think the Iwobi criticism on this one is wide of the mark and Jacks rating generous other than a few good creative passes. Once Iwobi was on at least it looked like we had someone in the midfield who could carry the ball and press. It was vacant space prior to that.

phimagen

The way i saw it is he didn’t know what to do with the ball

Ant

I am a fan of Iwobi, but that was one of his worst performances in an Arsenal shirt.

NY Gooner

We’ve seen it time and time again. Wenger’s style of play doesn’t work on a soggy pitch. The pass completion rate goes way down. They either try 3ft passes, or over the top. Spuds made precise 10-15 yard passes all day. When the only players moving off the ball are 3ft away, you try 3ft passes. This allows the opponent to easily double team you. This is not a selection problem, or lack of the right players, or lack of desire; it’s Wegner’s whole style of play.

Rectum+Spectrum

From being in awe of the man…fearful of the mere thought if his departure….to being a staunch defender in the face of over the top criticism…to now being so at peace with it being his time to go that i will celebrate it like a flashy new signing.

Please go Arsene. Its not just that its time, I’m now actually questioning your real love for the club as you hang on, doing it obvious damage.

Ricardo

What is wrong with these central defenders?

Both are f*cking experienced how hard is it to be focused. Cover the man and stop watching the ball. Same thing over and over again.

Why is it so hard to drill into them? Same mistakes every f*cking time.

Des

W_N_E_ O_T

I’ll let you guys fill in the gaps. I can’t be assed like our team today.

Mayor McCheese

When Neil eats old tomatoes?

Sean Juba

Welbeck Not Ever On Target

Ainsley\'s mum

Fuck me, how does Wilshere rate higher than Xhaka?

Clay

Wilshere is pedestrian when we don’t have the ball, he doesn’t mark, since we love him we overlook all that and blame Xhaka & Elneny

Matt+P

Wilshere worked hard and created something. Xhaka did fuck all

Bertieme

Pedestrian. That’s the right word for the team as a whole and this is the best we have got bar Ramsey. Though Laca fluffed to great chances, he and Iwobi were dire. They stretched us from the off with more energy and organization. The amount of times we were second to the ball had passes cut out and were on the back foot from their press was there to be seen in the first half. Sad to admit, but we were second best all over the pitch, whatever the scoreline and that doesn’t mean that Spurs will get anything more… Read more »

Negan

Iwobi is shit totally shit gave the ball away so many times what the fucking hell mate

Ozenal

We changed the backroom formula this season and Arsene doesn’t have control of transfers obviously. Things will be unsteady before they get better, as expected with any major shakeup. Can’t understand how we sold two defensive players, one for 12m, and two sets of wages and couldn’t afford to bring in another defender at the same time as the Auba deal. We gotta get this whole director of football thing sorted, clearly there isn’t a balance between what the manager needs and transfer committee. Things may blow up in Ivans face if our defensive frailty keeps getting exposed. I doubt… Read more »

Woolwich Shepherd

Mkhitaryan on the left? Poor decision.

Vonnie

Poor team selection for another big game, why does Arsene always try to be clever and play everyone out of position for all the big games? I wish he’d just go now.

Woolwich Shepherd

You can read so much by watching the body language. Pocchettino exudes confidence, Wenger fear. Kane is two feet above Kos, Lacazette is pulling up his socks. Eriksen puts a free kick at the top corner and forces a save, Ozil hits the wall. Vertonghen calm in possession, Mustafi lunging around like a chicken with his head cut off. It’s hard not to say that the momentum is heading in the blue and white direction. It should have been 3 or 4-0. Its unacceptable. Massive changes are needed in management.

jobe

good point.Wenger is out of ideas. He should go.!! We need fresh ideas.

Luke

What can I say another pathetic performance the manager has to go we need two new Centre halfs and a decent holding midfielder and a new goalkeeper

Massimo

Cech to me was awful. He save some goals but all of those come from his bad distribution. He put the team so many times under pressure.

Pete

Aubameyang will be Lacazette this time next year. Wenger no longer makes players, he destroys them. Mhkitaryan was abysmal, joke signing. Utd must be delighted to get him, off the wage bill.

BenG

A bit harsh on Lacazette when you consider he has been dropped received no service and still two shots double what the team did until he came on.

The arsenaut

With each defeat of late I’m left thinking about Metallica’s Leper Messiah lyrics:

Buying some defenders in the transfer market might be worth considering.

Santori

We are reaping the benefit and pitfalls of the January signing done with expediency rather than squad needs entirely in mind by the celebrated new arrangement. A number of key areas are still not addressed or gotten worse whilst we fuddled rather unnecessarily with a new forward line. 1) Cech – Agreed some iffy iffy moments but he kept our scoreline respectable. Could have had more egg in the face. As it is 3 points shed further off a now improbable top 4 finish. 2) Bellerin – Had his hands full. Blocked Son well but struggled going forward. 3) Mustafi… Read more »

Tony Hall

Fact is the Spuds are quite a bit better than us at the moment and if it hadn’t been for Cech today that could easily have been 4/5 nil to them. We are good for top 6 but a long way from CL standard at the moment, the midfield desperately needs some steel and discipline and the defence tightnening up. Xhaka should be dropped, he is not nearly playing well enough although who to put in midfield no idea. Lacazette, well still waiting for the goals and to justify how much it cost to buy him and imo the only… Read more »

Ozil complaining about the wall after the final whistle pretty much summed up the afternoon.

Babu-yi

What was most disappointing for me was the lack of readiness shown by the subs. All had a point to prove, Iwobi came on and gave the ball away, Lacazette was sleeping (was he dreaming about being Walcott?), Welbeck (does the man only pump weights or does he actually train with the ball?) let a ball slip under his foot when played in for a decent chance. Whatever was said in the dressing room put the team to sleep. Someone buy Mustafi a slip-n-slide so he can get that out of his system before matches. (At least he managed to… Read more »

Arshavin\'s shadow

Yeah, this criticism is all fair. I used to watch every game if I wasn’t working, but the past few seasons haven’t really gotten in to it, slept in a bunch and watched extended highlights later. Got up at 7:30 am to watch the new signings and witnessed the same ol shambles of a team not sure of their identity. This is not good for one’s health.
What I don’t understand is why not go with a back three which worked so well at the Emirates earlier in the season?

Bill mcbillerson

I just find Xhaka and Mustafi so disappointing. I think Elneny is actually a decent holding midfielder and Ozil should not Ben wide. I think that Wilshere and Elneny in the midfields would have a niceness balance like le coq and cazorla and Ozil in the 10 night work.

In Arse We Trust

I agree with you. For me the two weak links are Xhaka and Mustafi. If we solve this too.. we can go a long way.

In Arse We Trust

Lacazette is the re-incarnation of Chamakh. Wenger is a voodoo…

In Arse We Trust

Always Arsenal

Where did all this ‘spuds are better than us ‘ rubbish come from ? They have won nothing since the league cup, and bear in mind that, for some reason our support don’t even count the FA cup as a major trophy, so they won’t even consider the league cup. They just won a game where they outplayed us. Earlier in the season we won a game where we comprehensively outplayed them. They may finish above us, but they also may not. Without a trophy it means nothing.

Bellerin needs to get competition, and Xhaka is just not helping,he is just there to make the passes, nothing else..responsible for that goal, couldn’t even pressure thus the cross, hard to distinhuish him from a fan who is in the stands

When was the last time arsenal have won a league game against a really good side? It feels to me it was the 1:0 at old traford with that Ljungberg/Wiltord goal in 2002 (or semthing). So saying that there shouldn’t be any deffernce between home and away is complete bollocks. The sp*rs win yesterday was just common sence.

You mean away from home? Depends on your definitionof a really good side, but I guess away at Man City a few years ago? A game where Coquelin was a beast. Funny what you can do with a proper DM in the side.

Money makin Mitch (mmm) - Remix

a bit off topic… but are there others out there that doesn´t particularly like Xhaka´s haircut? wouldn´t it be better to go for 6 mm, all over, or just let it grow out, Rosicky-style?

now it`s a bit too slick for me, too gelly. and army-positive, like many other footballers

well… that´s just how i feel about it

i don´t think, on the other hand, Hus KingPin`s little mustache, or more so stubble, is that good an example either, though. of best style. as a reference to your nickname. but everyone is entitled to have an opinion, i guess

Heiku

What is army-positive you would be kicked out with hair like that and do you really go to the barber and tell him how long you want your hair accurate to the millimeter ? I think he should learn how to defend rather than faff around with his hair but what do i know
