Report: Calum Chambers set for Fulham medical

According to a report in the Daily Mail, which we won’t link to because it’s a hateful wanker-rag with scumbag racist, sexist, misogynistic tendencies, Calum Chambers is going to have a medical with Fulham ahead of a loan move for the 2018-19 season.

I don’t know if we should take this at face value or not, but it seems to be a thing doing the rounds this evening.

We here, having had a few beers this evening, feel as if this would be a shame, particularly because Calum is very handsome and this team has lost some of its ‘OOOOF’ after Olivier Giroud left last season.

We would prefer if Shkodran Mustafi joined Fulham but clearly Unai Emery disagrees which makes us wonder about his ability to judge beauty. Of course this is not exactly the measure of a good footballer – we’ve had many down the years who haven’t been much to look at, but still.

Anyway, the point is that Chambers appears to be leaving and from our list of centre-halves he would definitely not be top of our list.

We look forward to more stuff from other chaps who might do things and then we can all say ‘WTF?’ and now it’s time for another beer.

?

Alas poor Calum, we hardly knew thee.

ps – Pigeons and bluebottles are total dickheads

Let’s hope this is the usual level of Bullshit that flies from that total orifice of a newspaper

Jackp

IF this is true i think its a mistake. Holding could do with a loan spell but chambers strikes me as closer to 1st team ready. And with our injury record we will more than likely need him this season

CorporateMan

Especially after the way he filled in at right back against Chelsea the other day. He shouldn’t be the one to go on loan while the likes of Holding and Mavrapanos remain. Doesn’t make sense to me.

IamsterdamGooner

Mavopranos is playing for Perugia in Serie B. That’s all.

Bartek

That’s bizarre as fuck.

GoonerMac

Must be absolute click bait bollocks

BW9

If anyone should go on loan it’s Mavropanos to get experience. I like the Chambers Holding partnership and would probably consider it my first choice if I’m honest…

Onelion Simon Templer

May bro, it depends on how appearences holding has made and goal plus assists if he can qualify to have a clean sheet then his good to go.

Michael Bolton Wanderers

Maybe chambers is the only one of three young centre backs who will actually get to play pl football regularly if any of them are to be loaned out

Uba Ngenegbo

Go re watch some the Europa cup games last season and see how easily Chambers was beaten in one on one situations.
Not good enough for a starting berth.

Jimbo Jones

He’s done the loan to another premiership club gig already. Sure itll do him good to okay evety week but for the squads sake not sure he should be going anywhere. If anyone needs more experience I would have thought it’s holding or mavrapanos? Does this mean that that Emery has seen something and hes unconvinced about Chambers or just that our squad is too big and we need to shift a CB and I’ll assume there’s no takers for Mustafi or anyone else.

Jimbo Jones

* do him good to play every week

Martin

Well as our best defender at present I was hoping he would play every week for us. I really hope this is media rubbish

Faisal Narrage

Yeah it’s concerning. If he leaves it means Mustafi and Sokratis will be our starting CB pairing. I was hoping the days of 2 similar attacking CBs at the back were gone post-Wenger.

Jam Sin

Fulham have some cash to splash, maybe Chambers has just been lured away by something he’s excited by

Goonerink

It’s a loan, usually the wages you get are the same as usual.

MeSoHornsey

In all honesty we have the weakest selection of central defenders that I can remember at Arsenal.

So this would be quite a big deal, if true, as Callum is potentially the best of a bad lot.

Red-Sky

Indeed they are the poorest CBs in recent memory. And for that reason I don’t care who goes out the door.
I just hope we get a better replacement.

Goldencannon

I don’t understand this decision. We don’t have a stellar set of centre backs but after his strong end to last season, you could easily make the argument that he is the best centre back of the lot. He makes me less nervous than Mustafi that’s for sure.

loose_cannon

Baffling if true

Twatsloch

I fail to see what point there’d be to a loan. A sell to pocket some money for a player we may not be 100% convinced by yes, but a loan would be pointless. Besides, he’s been alright for us and we have use for him here.

Hopefully this is bollocks. Daily Mail = 100% Bollocks 100% of the time 100% guaranteed!

CognacGooner

Just to throw another spanner in the works, on french tv they’ve just been discussing that Chelsea are after our Aaron Ramsey

Martin

So are Liverpool and Barcelona.

ScotchEggsRule

The tragic lefty like whingeing, at the beginning of this article, removes any credibility of the writer.

Anonymarse

He’s probably a remoaner as well

Anonymarse

Whatever that is

   kaius

What kind of person complains when someone calls out a newspaper’s “racist, sexist, misogynistic” tendencies?

Anonymarse

Precisely

Faisal Narrage

Probably a racist, sexist misogynistic Daily Mail reader.

ScotchEggsRule

You appear to have confused me with someone who gives a f*ck what you think…..silly boy.

ScotchEggsRule

When that someone is a precious little lefty.

Twatsloch

I speak as someone who is sick of left wing rhetoric but I am no right winger either and I think it’s no exaggeration to deem the Daily Mail utter poison.

Jimbo Jones

The Mail is a piece of shit, credit for not linking to thst rag

Twatsloch

Michael fucking Gove’s wife works there. For fucks sake!

Anonymarse

Michael Gove, such a bellend

ScotchEggsRule

Ignorance.

ScotchEggsRule

And?

You must be a disciple of the Remain church. In which case, I’d rather have Gove and his Missus round for dinner.

Yellow Ribbon

Duh! Seriously??

voster

It’s true though. If that’s being lefty then I guess it must be a good thing.

Trez

Club has lost its damn mind. Chambers is our best ball playing defender. Better on the ball as an RB than Bellerin. Why should he instead of Holding go out on loan? Only way I’m happy with this is if we get a great CB. If Mustafi isn’t going to be a starter, why not sell him now and keep Chambers as backup? Sokratis was a waste of money. We could’ve added whatever we have to the 17m we paid for him and got a better CB. If it’s really Boateng coming in, then it makes less sense signing Sokratis.… Read more »

Shaun

Boateng makes no sense from an age perspective since signing Sokratis. But he does compliment the “attacking” centre backs we have a handful of. Based on his stats he doesn’t get beat easy and he attempts less tackles and interceptions but at a decent success rate suggesting he is More sweeper like. We need a player like him. Would like a younger version but doesn’t seem like a lot out there

Faisal Narrage

We kinda already have that young version in Mavropanos, and I was kind hoping that Sokratis was brought with the intention of pairing with Mavro due to their shared heritage and languages, and complimentary CB styles and for Sokratis to be the ideal older CB to manage Mavro.

But disappointingly, looks like we’re gonna do the whole dual-attacking CB thing again. But with the added lack of pace by Sokratis.

Jay

Is it just me or are we now seriously running the risk of not complying with the homegrown rule. If Chambers leaves that doesn’t leave us with many homegrown players

Crash Fistfight

So, I looked into the rule, and it is essentially that you can have 17 non-homegrown players in the squad. The remaining 8 spots have to be filled with homegrown players. That means if you have less than 8 homegrown players your squad will be below the 25 player limit. So, really, it doesn’t matter how many homegrown players we have. What matters is how many non-homegrown players we have. As long as it is not more than 17 we are ok. Also to bear in mind that the rule only applies to players over the age of 21, regardless… Read more »

GunneRon

We still have Xhaka, Bellerin, Kolasinac, Ramsey (for now), Corporal Jenks (yes he’s still here!) and most recently Guendozi, to make us still the best looking side in England !

Anonymarse

Oh come on it’s obviously bollocks

Ausdrexler

The poo meter would surely have given this a very runny post vindaloo kind of toilet trip me thinks.

Anonymarse

Turn it up to 11

Ashburton Grove

Has to be complete nonsense, surely if any of our centre backs were to go on loan it would be Mavropanos, not Chambers.

Deano

Been a arseblog viewer for 10 years plus but never felt the need to comment on an article of yours, but……. Absolutely spot on!! The Mail is an absolute shit rag!
Also agree that I would rather mustafi left rather than chambers

Red-Sky

LoL.. Arseblog is 8 years-old.

Yellow Ribbon

What the fuck are you saying? This is an absolute blunder. We are going to go nowhere with Mustafi and Sokratis. I was sort of hoping for Chambers and Holding to step up. ??

Greg

Its there any newspaper that isn’t filled with wank blast

Confused

Mustafi’s mum thinks her son is very handsome

ayinuola micheal

holding and mavropanos are the better duo to go on loan, chambers has been a good player ever since arriving from a long loan spell

Mpls

Uh uh. Nope.

pajanee

I was hoping chambers would be in the starting 11 this season. He improved as a center back in the last 10-15 games last season. i expected holding or mavrapanos to be sent on loan…calum is more experience among the three. Anyway, let”s wish him the best if the deal happens. Hope to see him a better player for us in 2019

Hantal

Our best centre back last year, I thought making huge strides to be part of the starting XI, if emery and his team aren’t convinced surely it’s bettdr to cash in, a loan does nothing for us

Uba Ngenegbo

Good move for Chambers. Never rated him and hope he can be moved on.

Rich

Name me a newspaper or TV station that isn’t full of shit? And doesn’t look to confirm the biases of their customer demographics? Rather than piss them off by telling them a few home truths? It’s the way the media works. And in all fairness to the Daily Mail, it is not the media’s job to be politically correct, it is the job of the media to be factually correct and then allow people to use their own moral judgment to decide which side of the fence they’d like to sit on. When you ignore news stories and crimes committed… Read more »

Twatsloch

I agree with much of what you say but factually correct and Daily Mail is an oxymoron.

A Different George

Let’s take one subject: there is a difference between not ignoring “normal people’s concerns surrounding immigration” and purposely stoking fear through hysterical headlines that have almost no connection to the truth, slanting language to degrade and humiliate, refusing to mention anything that does not fit your narrative. I call that racism.

Faisal Narrage

Honestly, I think Arsenal fan’s unchecked optimism for this season is gonna get a sudden bite. Watching City yesterday and any idea that they’re there for the taking due to the WC is just a myth imo. I think, whatever talk of how many videos he’s seen, having 4 weeks (and just a week or 2 for some players) in preseason surely isn’t enough to give him a good idea of player’s tendencies, and unlike us arsenal fans who’ve seen enough to maybe make up our minds, I still feel this season he’ll be tempted to do the things we… Read more »

Crash Fistfight

I agree, although I know I’m going to need to keep reminding myself to give the new manager time.

I’ve found myself bemoaning our style of play as being the same as under Arsene, in the pre-season friendlies. They’re pre-season friendlies FFS! Why am I even reading anything into them?!?

I don’t know why I have such a lack of patience these days. I’m gonna blame it on getting older.

Merlin's Panini

bit weird, this. Maybe we’re trying to do fulham a favour so we can nick one of theirs in the future (Ryan Sessegnon perhaps?). Otherwise this doesn’t make much sense to me when we have worse centre backs at the club.

Hantal

A swap has some merit but really just leaves us short. I’d like sessegnon but as well as not instead of

Rich

Really wouldn’t be too disappointed if this meant we were signing Ryan Sessegnon and allowing Monreal a move back to Spain.

Monreal has certainly been one of our most consistent performers, but getting our money back for a player who’s 32 until he turns 33 and plays in a physically demanding position, and replacing him with one of the countries brightest talents would be an exciting and logical move.

Faisal Narrage

Erm, you do know we are already 1 LB down for 2 months, right?
And that’s without even asking if said LB is even good enough to be our starting LB anyways.

Crash Fistfight

I thought Sessegnon played in midfield these days?

mcbsk

“Of course this is not exactly the measure of a good footballer.” Two words: ‘Martin’ and ‘Keown’.

Public Elneny

Fucking idiotic move if true

bdotm

I’d start the season with Calum alongside Mustafi if I were gaffer. That’s how highly I rate him considering all the options at our disposal so I’m really struggling to understand and rationalize a loan deal for him at this point. By all means you can loan someone like Mavopanos but not this dude

Daft Aider

Good. he really needs games and there is a fair chance he won’t get enough with us this season

Rabid fuzzle

Totally unnecessary to add the fact that you’d had a few beers, to that article. We could easily have worked out that one.

Futsboller

This is a really poor decision by Emery and Co.; the best way for Chambers to develop is in an Arsenal shirt fighting hard for his teammates and the fans, and playing the new coaches brand of football. A second loan move is just poor management and doesn’t bode well for Calum’s future at Arsenal FC.

vernazza

Just don’t start Sokratis.

jon

The defense suffered for lack of clear roles and instructions under Wenger. I believe we will improve this season indepentently of who play. But I rate Holding as a bigger talent than Chambers, although both are ball-watchers.

osi

Even a bad watch is right twice a day

voster

Can only interpret offering a new deal and sending him on loan as the bosses thinking that he needs to play a full season’s worth of Premier League games. If he does become a first-choice regular at Fulham, I’d say that’s a great outcome for everyone concerned.

Swerve

Arseblog is going full political lately.

Not a good look for a football site as you will eventually alienate a large group of people, but it’s their property and their choice of course 100%.

And the “moral guardians” amongst the commentors will no doubt welcome the echo chamber and tell the “despicables” to do one.

Tony JJ

Do one

Cagooner

I’ve got to agree about bluebottles, but pigeons are ok.
