Constant speculation over Ozil is not helping the man. Every pass he makes is analysed and it’s coming from pundits and Arsenal fans too. If clubs want to get serious about mental health and bullying they need to take a collective stance to combat fake news and ridiculous speculation that damages a player’s mental well-being. Fake news is not free speech and bullying is a hate crime.

Absolutely.

He hasn’t been performing up to par and I don’t think his character will change even with captain’s armband.

He’s who he is, a very talented player who lets negativity at times get the better of him.

BUT at the moment better to have than not.

And we also have Ramsey (another issue) who can challenge for that role in the number 10 behind the striker.

BOTH players have similar function and are dangerous attacking the second ball. In Ramsey’s case, its his better instinct and with the way we now press high up in concert, he becomes very useful higher up the pitch for us with work rate and commitment.

As for Ozil, we should give him the benefit of the doubt that he is a bit under the weather at the moment and that he will come back to his best.

All in all can’t stop the narrative the press want to sow but OTOH, its up to the players as well to prove their nonsense shallow.

Only one way for all the noise around Ozil to go away – the man starts performing on the pitch and delivers many more glorious assists and goals in games to come!

Think Emery has done pretty well so far.

We need to start grinding out the results and cannot afford to have the 3 year span of time that some media pundits would deem to suggest.

Emery prob knows this too and if we want to get back on track quickly, get into the top 4 CL spots, we need to get going now not end of October.

Nothing that Emery is doing is a massive departure from what Wenger was already attempting be it 4-3-3 with Auabmeyang wide of a 4-2-3-1 or high press.

BOTH men are constrained by natural limits in the squad as it is composed at the moment and the buying in the summer has only somewhat brought solutions to previous issues.

What Emery is rightly doing is trying to work out the details. We see the team trying to execute his “play out from the back” system too literally and we see an adjustment now against West Ham where the approach is more interpretive.

Similarly High Press and High Line is work in progress. Wenger had us doing this but with the midfield we had, we never sustained it beyond 20 minute spells. We are getting better at this but the team is attempting to move as a unit in conjunction with the press higher up and still gets caught with long balls. It will take some time to get the whole team synced up.

As evident, we are also still too disorganised playing the offside trap but we were not caught out as much against West Ham although this could also be with level of opponents in mind.

He needs to be given time Emery but we also know we need things to bear fruit quickly.

Still only one win in but there is hope we can start building on it, develop some confidence and fluency and kick on quickly.

As we can see from City’s result, the media are the only ones who buy into the narrative that the champions won’t be caught. It has been proven time and again how teams deem to be unbeatable by pundits would flatter to deceive next season down.

Not saying city won’t go on to romp to another title but we are as yet only 6 points off the lead (Liverpool) and that is where we set our sights even if in our heads our realistic goals may be somewhat lesser.

If we keep grinding out the results and get the balance right, we can do things.

Emery is clearly less allergic to changing things around quickly to suit developing situations in and within a game. Thought he got the line up spot on and the changes too.
