Holding starts, no Sokratis: Arsenal v Watford teams

It’s 6th placed Arsenal v 4th placed Watford in the Premier League at the Emirates this afternoon.

Three points would put us into the top four, and here’s the team Unai Emery has selected to do the job.

Subs: Leno, Lichtsteiner, Kolasinac, Guendouzi, Iwobi, Mkhitaryan, Welbeck

Watford: Foster, Holebas, Kabasele, Cathcart, Navarro, Hughes, Doucoure, Capoue, Pereyra, Gray, Deeney.

Subs: Gomes, Mariappa, Femenia, Masina, Chalobah, Sema, Success

I really don’t think we are at our best with Ozil and Ramsey playing together but it doesn’t look like that’s going to change in the League.

CLEGooner

Not til we lose at least. In this Unai matches the prof.

Almọnd

A WIN AND A CLEAN SHEET UP FOR GRABS. COME ON YOU GUNNERS. I BELIEVE WE CAN DO IT.

FanniboyWelbz

I hope all the Ramsey nonsense won’t affect his performance today, and I’m guessing they are easing Kolasinac back into the starting 11? Either way big game so let’s get all 3 points. COYG!

Raphael

Doubt it will affect his performance. My guess is he will lose the ball regularly, over hit and under hit passes. Be as slow as usual and generally get in the way. Come on Rambo ?

Cagooner

Agreed. But he’ll probably grab a goal too.

Sean

I haven’t got anything against Kolasinac, but why do you assume we’re easing him into the starting xi? For me Nacho’s still our main man in that position unless his performances slip.

FanniboyWelbz

I agree with you Sean. I just meant that he hasn’t played all season so I was wondering if he would get some minutes today. I know we have two great left backs and it can be a headache

Alex

Ask if it’ll affect Özil’s performance as he is made guilty for this too.

Futsboller

Holding needs to do a job on Deeney like he did on Costa in the FA Cup final. If we don’t give away possession needlessly, and can force turnovers in the midfield, we can manage this encounter. Hopefully Laca and Auba continue their goal-scoring form up front.

Anonymarse

Everybody will do a job on Deeney. It was foolish of him to say what he said.

Thierry bergkamp

I didn’t think a dead leg would keep a player out for a whole week

Hantal

I think it’s as much to do with Holding having done well enough to keep his place as it is sokratis being fit

Sean

If that was the case then it would be Mustafi out for Holding. Sokratis has really started to settle the past couple weeks and is quickly turning into our most important CB.

Martin

Then why isn’t Sokratis even on the bench?

Sheffield Goon

Must be injured still. Dead legs can be buggers. My son gave me one in jest and it hurt like f*** for about three weeks.

Yellow Ribbon

Come on you gooners! Let’s break some cojones today.

Anonymarse

United lost, such a shame

Irrational Gunner

Just terrible. Is Moyes available? Too early for big Sam, I think!

Kostas

If I could turn back time I would have sold Ozil and kept Ramsey. But know we have a situation where Rambo is on his way. I really can’t see why we force Ozil out right and Miki on the bench for him

Alex

Yes, it rains, sell Özil.

Ya gooner

Iwobi for me deserves to start ahead of ramsey or ozil mostly based on form alone.

Laudgunner

Ermmm, not sure about Ramsey..but well COYG. Lets make it to the top four today at least

I AM ARSENAL

How is Ramsey still starting.

afan

because he is our best player, that’s why

Martin

Why not? Ramsey would have signed the contract that Arsenal took off the table.

Lord Bendnter

Would have rather had Iwobi instead of Ramsey in the starting line up today. Nothing to do with Ramsey, but for the balance of the team, would be nice to have a winger in there, especially since Iwobi isn’t playing too bad, and the game would give him further confidence and improvement

afan

good to see holding starting

Laudgunner

Apparently Sanchez was out injured today as he strained his neck looking up at Arsenal in the table. COPIED.
