Arsenal team news

Arsenal take a two goal lead into tonight’s Europa League quarter-final second leg against Napoli.

Our away form means we’ll probably need to score, and this is the team that Unai Emery has selected to do the job tonight.

Napoli: Meret, Maksimovic, Chiriches, Koulibaly, Ghoulam, Callejon, Allan, Zielinski, Fabian, Insigne, Milik

Subs: Ospina, Hysaj, Malcuit, Rui, Verdi, Younes, Mertens

Arsenal: Cech, Maitland-Niles, Sokratis, Koscielny, Monreal, Kolasinac, Torreira, Xhaka, Ramsey, Aubameyang, Lacazette

Subs: Leno, Elneny, Mustafi, Guendouzi, Ozil, Mkhitaryan, Iwobi

Like it – Sokratis, Torreira and Laca give us that strength we need.

Keep it tight early on, disciplined and get an away goal.

Hey, I could be a pundit and state the bleedin’ obvious?

This is the strongest team Emery can presently put out there, so hopefully we can get an early goal and put this to bed.

Slowest and less creative team, yes.

Yes, because your favorite player is not selected. Support team over individuals.

Alex doesn’t support Arsenal. Surely that’s not even a debate any more.

Come on u Reds. Really think we’re going to do this !

Alex, why does the slowest Arsenal team contain our quickest player who is currently fit? I’m confused, can you explain? Can you advise me who is quicker and should be starting? Would you like us to sign Aaron Lennon?

Mustafi inplace of Niles

The only question for me was if he would go with two strikers or another midfielder. I’d imagine Ramsey will be in a higher, pressing role–and I could see him being extra motivated to put in a strong performance in Italy before his move there. COYG!

A lot of resilience in that team with Sokratis, Kos, Torreira, Ramsey and Laca. I like it, they should be up for a fight.

Damn, I wanted Ramsey alongside a DM with Ozil playing in that role behind the strikers

I think I might’ve gone the same way with Rambo next to Torreira instead of Xhaka and Özil ahead, but i’m happy enough with this. There are goals in this team, with a fair bit of tenaciousness and solidity too…. touch wood, etc., etc.

Awesome! Bosscielny and Big Papa in defence. We always have some stability with these two in the side. I’m confident. COYG! ?

We actually have a good defence with both of them playing

Ramsey has NEVER been good as a 10: he is too slow at taking decisions and at moving the ball. He needs teammates around him to move the ball around and allow his runs. This is too conservative and we’ll need Özil to bring an attacking threat. Expect no creativity and a heavy team, guys. But well, who i am to say this…

Ozil offered lot of creativity against Everton, right?

COYG, let’s do this.

Emery has managed to keep some of them fresh through the game at Watford – Laca & Kolasinac rested, AMN, Ramsey and Torreira all sub-ed.

Excited, not so worried…yet 🙂

Fullbacks bombing on, best 3 centre backs, midfield locked, strikers set and creativity on the bench if we need it. I like it. COYG!!

This is the team I thought he’d pick which surprises me because I’m almost always surprised by his team selection. Unai has left me next level surprised.

Personally would have started Ozil, but otherwise a very solid lineup. We probably just need one goal to kill the game and this looks like a team that can get it. COYG!

Its waiting for 45mins to kick-off that is the worst part lol just want the game to get start!!! Shame kickoff ain’t at 7:30!!! I generally like this lineup and looks pretty much like our best players on the pitch (you could argue the case for Ozil and Iwobi) so will be interesting how we shape up/perform!!!

Would have liked to see another ball carrier. Not concerned who, but this lineup may have trouble handling early pressure. Hope I am ridiculously wrong! COYG!

Looks like Emery is leaving that task to the wingbacks, and setting up with 3 midfield disruptors / pressers.

Let’s hope it works.

Midfield almost non existent. Either we are defending of balls directly transported upfront via long Ball. No chance if we play stronger sights.
