Video: Reiss Nelson back on the scoresheet for Hoffenheim

Having started his loan spell with at Hoffenheim with a bang – and six goals in the first couple of months – things dried up a bit for Reiss Nelson.

However, he’s back on the scoresheet again, notching the second in a 2-0 win over Hertha Berlin.

That’s his seventh goal of the season, and it’s good to see him back on track after a difficult few months.

The 19 year old spoke recently about his ambitions for next season and his desire to win a place in the Arsenal first team.

“If I wasn’t aiming to break into the Arsenal first team, that wouldn’t be the correct mindset,” he said.

“I need to go there with that mindset of breaking into that team.”

Offside…?

TheG

Pause it 7 seconds in and you can see that he is level with the first defender stretching. Also a few seconds after it gets even harder because of the angle of the defender trying to pick up the initial runner.

Goonereality

Good news. He appears to have got over the “problems” he had at the club a while ago. Let’s hope he can keep it up.

Billy Batts

Given by VAR after being initially ruled out for offside, for those wondering.

Chiralvandal

Thank you! I was wondering.

SharpasFc

I must say initially I thought he was offside, so fair play to the VAR for getting it right!

CroArse

He will be like a new signing for us.

Goonereality

Hopefully, but let’s not get carried away yet. He’s very young still and playing in and out in the EPL is a tough proposition. He’s got skill and talent so his future looks good but it’s very likely that Emery will take things slowly with him to be sure.

There are other young players like the excellent Hudson Odoi given starts.

Can’t see why Nelson at 19yrs cannot break into our first team bereft of natural wide players able to take on and pull out of position defenders.

Likely boss sent him out to ween any immaturity out of the lad without expense to us this season.

Should be ready now to push on with us.

SharpasFc

He started for our first team last season under AW and got starts in cup games for Unai. For a while there was a question about him re-signing for the club and sending him out on loan seemed a play a huge part in him finally putting pen to paper. Next season will be interesting as we have loads of talented youngsters coming through. And as a side note I’ve heard some Chelsea fans expressing disappointment at how Hudson-Odoi seemed to freeze against Liverpool. We have to remember these lads are still very young and not expect too much from… Read more »

Would like to see Eddie break through too.

SharpasFc

I think Eddie will probably go on loan next season…he needs it. His development is being stunted a bit IMO. It’s great that he gets to train with the first team but he’s barely got any playing time.

Santori

Will be a useful tool to have in he kit for emery you’d think. We are currently playing variations of 3-4-1-2 or 3-4-2-1 In part we have abandoned 4 at the back and 4-2-3-1 due to security in defense and the players we have. If we can go to a flat 4, then the right side of the midfield becomes an issue. Beyond Bellerin and AMN, we lack pce and natural players who can take defenders on from the right in midfield. Ozil, Mhkitaryan and Ramsey are mainly pass and play types. When passing channels are effectively constricted, we struggle.… Read more »

Better the Devil You Know

Good Post. But you only needed the last paragraph mate

Shmokin'em

It’s no use mate. I saw the 1st short post and thought oh nice agreed and it was short…just the calm before the storm.

goonero

A tricky wide player with a nose for a goal, sounds like an Emery kind of player!
