Arsenal Women Draw Reading In Conti Cup Quarter-Finals

Arsenal Women will play at home to Reading in the quarter-finals of the Continental Tyres trophy. The match will take place on Wednesday, 15th or Thursday, 16th January at Meadow Park with a 7.30pm kickoff.

The Gunners won their group and therefore won the right to be drawn at home to one of the other group runners-up. Joe Montemurro’s side beat London City Lionesses, Charlton Athletic, Bristol City and London Bees and drew with Brighton during the groups.

Arsenal were beaten in last year’s final on penalties by Manchester City, but have won the Conti Cup five times overall, more times than any other club. Arsenal defeated Reading away 3-0 in the WSL last weekend.

Thanks Tim, no one to fear at fortress Meadow Park!
More importantly, how is Meado?
At least there is a little festive time-out now so hopefully we should not be without her for too many games.

Beth seemed in her normal bubbly upbeat mood back onto the coach yesterday wearing one of those protective boots. Said she was due for an x-ray today.

Yes saw her pitchside in a prototype boot on the BBC highlights show. Might be good for extra power in the ‘crots’ but not sure it will help with running!
Thought that might be good news as I wouldn’t think the team would let her hobble about if there were serious damage but you can never tell with those pesky tarsals!
Let’s hope the X-ray doesn’t reveal anything and a couple of weeks rest will have her back to normal ready for the next decade of dominence in the women’s game.

The impact of the tackle seemed to be on the inside of her right ankle. As you intimated I doubt very much if our team doctor would have sanctioned her trotting around on crutches with a bootie on immediately after the game if serious injury was suspected.

Good news.X-ray reveals no breaks . Beth is receiving treatment for bruising ?

Yay! Home draw!
