Arsenal Youth preview – U23s face Liverpool; U18s take on West Ham

Both Arsenal U23s and U18s are in action tomorrow on a busy day for the club’s youngsters.

The second-string, who are currently in fourth place, face Liverpool away in what should be an entertaining encounter.

Many of Liverpool’s U23 players, including Harvey Elliott, have received first-team minutes this season and this game is set to be a tough test for Arsenal.

Steve Bould’s side are deprived of the services of James Olayinka following his loan switch to Northampton Town, so Ben Cottrell will be hoping to start.

Up front Folarin Balogun, who has remained with Arsenal despite interest from elsewhere, will be determined to get on the scoresheet again.

Arsenal U18s are also playing tomorrow as they host West Ham United.

Ken Gillard’s side are preparing for their FA Youth Cup clash against Brighton & Hove Albion next week, and this game will provide them with a chance to fine-tune their tactical setup.

Schoolboy Khayon Edwards made his debut for the U18s as a substitute last time out and he will be aiming to be involved again as he looks to gain further experience at this level prior to becoming a full-time scholar next season.

Thanks for the update, Jeorge. Will our U23s have to make do without Tolaji Bola after his sending off against Everton? Incidentally I thought he had a good game and was very unfortunate to be given a red card despite appearing to win the ball back.
