Arsenal will step up their preparations for the return of Premier League action with a friendly against Charlton Athletic at the Emirates today.
The players only returned to full-contact training last week but with time tight, there’s a pressing need to build match sharpness. They will also get the chance to experience playing a competitive match without any fans.
Confirmation of a clash with the Addicks has come from their striker Lyle Taylor. The 30-year-old left a comment on the Instagram account of a fanpage which referenced another friendly with Crystal Palace.
Taylor announced this week that he won’t play for the Championship side again this season because he’s worried an injury could jeopardise a big-money move when the season ends.
It is expected that the Gunners will play at least one further friendly next week before Mikel Arteta’s squad travel to Manchester City on 17 June.
If there’s any news from this afternoon’s clash, we’ll let you know.
