Vivianne Miedema and Kim Little nominated for PFA Player of the Year

Arsenal pair Vivianne Miedema and Kim Little have been nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award. Striker Miedema was the top scorer and top assist provider in the Women’s Super League last season, while captain Kim Little proved once again to be a creative driving force from central midfield.

They are nominated alongside Chelsea’s Beth England, Sophie Ingle, Guro Reiten and Ji So Yun in the senior player category, the winner will be announced on Tuesday evening at 7pm UK time.

The Gunners begin their WSL campaign at home to Reading on Sunday at 12.30pm, with the game live on BBC Online and the red button in the UK, the NBC Sports app in the US and on the free of charge FA Player app. We will have a full match preview for that game on the site tomorrow, otherwise, enjoy our interview with new signing Steph Catley here.

The remainder of Arsenal’s WSL fixtures for 2020-21 have been confirmed today too and you can see those below.

Miedema deserves to win, of course. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it is handed to Beth England.

She deserves the same money as Auba but where will the money come from? I just installed the FA App to watch the girls for free. Would the man side subsidise the ladies for the symbol of it until the ladies game develop to the same height as men? In society, we have lot to answer.

Problem is all of those nominees deserve to win!
We would like to see a Gunner collect the title but it will most likely go to one of the champions. You are right, England will probably get it because she is so high profile at the moment but the truth is, of the Chelsea players, Reiten is the most deserving of the award.

At least this award is voted by the players themselves and in a Utopian world the players will, of course, be totally unbiased.
Yeah, right! Viv being Viv is going to get a host of votes from the Chelski Set and the Gooner Girls will make Beth England their number 1 choice. Still, at least that will cancel out the partisan votes I suppose.
