Premier League confirms extension to broadcast arrangements

The Premier League have confirmed that all matches will continue to be broadcast by existing partners until supporters are allowed back into grounds.

This is an extension of the existing arrangement which started last season and was renewed in November after a brief flirtation with a controversial pay-per-view scheme.

Sky Sports and BT Sport will continue to have the majority share of matches but Amazon Prime Video will scoop up some additional coverage while a couple of unfancied ties will be offered up to the BBC.

While the COVID-19 vaccine rollout in the UK appears to be going relatively smoothly, the number of people who tested positive over the last seven days topped 86,000.

The figures, despite coming down significantly in the last few weeks, suggest we’ve a long way to go before anybody gives consideration to allowing North Bank ‘limbs’ on a matchday. As such, we suspect matches will end up being broadcast for the rest of the season.

Hopefully this pandemic fucks off soon enough so that you folks can visit the stadium, but it seems unlikely. By the way where is that conspiracy theorist who was referring to Covid-19 as a flu and this all being part of Great Reset towards fulfilling the oncoming of the Beast?

Biggles

I doubt that Covid-19 will ever “fuck off” entirely as you put it, and that we’ll have to live with it – probably in many variations (much like we do and have done with ‘flu) – and hope that vaccines stay one step ahead. Of course, that doesn’t mean we’ll never have crowds at sporting events, or anywhere else, but things are unlikely to return completely to “normal” – as we knew it pre-Covid – for, well, who knows… .

At least there’s no Pay per View resumption. Highly unlikely to see fans in the stadium any time soon as the article indicates and many of those who would attend won’t be getting the vaccine for a while yet. It’s causing huge financial problems, but there is no alternative – as a former Prime Minister once said.
