Arsenal Women to play PSV Eindhoven in next Champions League Qualifier

Arsenal Women will play PSV Eindhoven in their next Champions League Qualifier on Saturday in Moscow. The Gunners were 4-0 winners over Kazakh side Okzhetpes earlier today to put them through to Saturday’s playoff game.

PSV we’re 3-1 victors over Lokomotiv Moscow this evening setting up a tie with Arsenal on Saturday. It will kick off at 5pm UK time in the Sapsan Stadium.

The winner will go through to the final qualifying round at the beginning of September for the right to play in the group stage.

PSV’s squad features former Arsenal goalkeeper Sari van Veenendaal. It was also the club where Daniëlle van de Donk started her career. We will have all the usual build up to Saturday’s game with a match preview on Friday and we will hear from Jonas Eidevall post-match as always.

Any places one could catch the game living out of the UK

Tim Stillman

It should be on Arsenal.com but waiting for confirmation.

Yesterday’s game was streamed live on Youtube, so it’s likely to be there again

Marieke

Yeah likely on PSV’s YouTube. https://youtube.com/c/PSV

Marieke

Should be an easy win. Sari is a shadow of who she was at the World Cup. The 1-0 for Locomotiv was terrible keeping from Sari. They lost Aniek Nouwen and Joelle Smits this summer so definitely need Arsenal to ease through to the real difficult test possibly…

Does anyone know where the Sapan Stadium is? Google tells me it’s in Indonesia 😆

Tim Stillman

Moscow

E-gooner

Ok thx!

Pastor Simon

Please Tim, can we have a video highlights of the match?

Tim Stillman

I don’t think there are any atm. It’s all down to the hosts in Moscow to provide that sort of thing.

Maybe a silly question but why are a team from London and a team from Eindhoven playing a qualifier in Moscow

78/79/80

I just looked up the qualifying system. OMG, who dreams up this stuff. Mental.

The top brass in football insist on the least sustainable road possible. In the men’s game a pointless trip to Azerbaijan to be stuffed by Chelsea springs to mind.
Could be sponsorship by Gazprom has some influence?

Tim Stillman

It’s because the league path is split up into four team mini-tournaments and one of the teams hosts the whole thing to cut down travel costs. In this case, Lokomotiv Moscow are hosting.

Is it still so likely to get an elite club in the last round of qualifiers?

Tim Stillman

If we go through, we’d get one of Lyon, Wolfsburg, Rosengard or Slavia Praha.

Xuan

Maybe it will be fate to come up against rosengard. Wolfsburg and lyon will be really tough, even if they disappointed last season.
