Arsenal provide update on Tierney fitness

Kieran Tierney may have been pictured today in training but the Arsenal medical team have stopped short of declaring the left-back fully fit in their latest fitness bulletin.

The 24-year-old hasn’t featured for the Gunners since the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace on 18 October but appears to be on the mend having spent a couple of weeks nursing a bruised ankle.

Earlier this week, Scotland boss Steve Clarke hinted that the defender was making good progress and would likely get the nod for upcoming World Cup qualifiers with Moldova and Denmark.

He continues to be assessed but we expect he’ll make Sunday’s squad in some capacity.

The only confirmed absentee for Watford’s to the Emirates is Granit Xhaka. The Switzerland midfielder aims to return from his medial knee ligament injury in January.

It’s getting really hard to imagine a world where Kieran plays more than 50-60% of games a season.

I feel really bad for the kid. He deserves a break. Literally. Stop playing him Scotland!

Luton Gooner

Normally I’d agree, but I actually want him to play for Scotland this interlull to get some minutes in his leg before the Liverpool game, so he’s ready to pocket Salah!

Yeah, you can’t complain. He’s a proud Scottish lad and they are pushing for World Cup qualification. But I just think he’s a one game a week man. Anymore than that and he starts to struggle.

I’m imagining the injury gods twiddling their evil moustaches at your “He deserves a break. Literally.” quote.
“A break you say?! You didn’t say which kind of break mwahahahaha”

GoonerD

No joke this was literally my first thought.

Teryima Adi

Let’s not hurry Tierney back- Nuno is on fire at the moment.

William Brooks

Looking forward to having him back but also loving Tavares , can see both playing if and when we might need to go with a 343

Bubba

Agree completely mate.
Tierney excells in that Monreal LCB role and White played RCB for Brighton and Gabriel’s passing has come on so ideal for CB. Who goes RWB though….M-Niles or maybe Saka?

GoonerD

I would actually back Saka to excel there, think it might give him a new challenge to rise to and that he’d probably do pretty well in.

DialSquareGoon

Let the mind games begin. But seriously, he needs a rest and to be managed back in. If Scotland commit to not playing him for 90 mins every game this upcoming International break, he should be allowed to join up.

Abdullah Bakar

He’s becoming an injury prone hate to say that. But it’s good to have him back we missed his warrior mentality . Stay strong KT

Giovanni Hovno

amazing we have only Xhaka injured otherwise. props to the medical team!
