Arteta provides update on Saka injury

Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Bukayo Saka was substituted off against Newcastle after complaining of a muscular issue.

The England international went down holding his left leg not long after breaking the deadlock in Arsenal’s 2-0 win and looks likely to be a doubt for our trip to Old Trafford.

Asked for an update on the winger in his post-game press conference, the boss said: “It was an action where he said that he felt something.

“He wasn’t comfortable to continue. We’ll have to assess him tomorrow and probably scan him to see if there’s any injury there.

“He felt something muscular and let’s see what it is.”

Gabriel Martinelli replaced Saka and scored with just his second touch. The Brazilian will be hoping his impact earns him what would be just a third Premier League start on Thursday.

Bad timing ahead of the man u game. Fingers crossed.

Grumbleduke

Fingers crossed the young lad is ok after such a good game for him. I remember a time many years ago when I had these things called muscles too. They’re called flab now I think.

Cobwebs

Ruptured flab can be a season-ending injury…..

David C

as John Daly famously said” “You can’t pull fat.”

bob

On the contrary. When you get enough of it, it forms these rolls which are incredibly easy to pull 😉

Just rest the kid for a bit.
It’s not rocket science.

Man Manny

He’ll be back for Man U, but I hope Arteta does the sensible thing and gives him a rest anyway.
We have Pepe and Martinelli both raring to go.

Evening, yes a comfortable win, but not without its upsets, Aubameyang missing a sitter on perhaps his only touch of the game, Saka injured and Ramsdale busier than we like. Everybody singing Ramsdales praises, but don’t forget he let 4 in last week, and got nowhere near them. Obviously, the better teams will score past him. Of course another 3 points are welcomed, but let’s not get to excited until we have played them all once, then see where we are

Jean Ralphio

That was a good controlled game I thought. Newcastle had an xG of 0.31 so Ramsdale wasn’t that busy.

Against Manchester United, Arteta should play the 3-5-2 formation. G.K, Ramsdale
Holding, White and Gabriel forming the back 3.
Tomiyasu and Tierney as wing backs, with Partey, Lokonga and Smith Rowe at the mid, with Rowe as a number 10.
Aubameyang and Laca leading the striking force.
