Arsenal set for warm weather training camp in Dubai

Arsenal will head to Dubai next week for a training camp as Mikel Arteta looks to use the 18-day gap between Premier League matches to galvanise his first team squad ahead of the final third of the season.

Following a hectic festive period, the majority of players are expected to be given a few days off following today’s clash with Burnley but will regroup midweek before jetting off, courtesy of our airline sponsors, for warmer climes.

Centre-back Gabriel won’t be part of the travelling party as he’s been called up by Brazil for fixtures with Ecuador and Paraguay. Takahiro Tomiyasu has also been given the nod by Japan although reports suggest he’s likely to be ruled out by the calf problem he’s been struggling with in recent weeks. This particular international break doesn’t include matches by European countries.

The Gunners travelled to Dubai for similar training camps in 2020 and 2019, on both occasions taking part in corporate activities alongside their work on the pitch. Matteo Guendouzi ensured the trip two years ago made headlines for the wrong reasons following a bust-up with the club’s coaching staff.

The Athletic (£) report that Arsenal have also organised a friendly match at London Colney when they return, to ensure the players aren’t too rusty before the trip to Molineux.

By that time, Arteta will be hoping to have added new faces to his squad. The transfer window closes in nine days time and the club continues to push for additions in midfield and in attack.

Commercial opportunities > player welfare

Rosickz

Just got back from Dubai. Everyone wearing masks, low infection rate. I think safer than Europe at the moment TBH.

TH14

Thanks, yeah i live here and it is pretty safe. Even in crowded places police and police volunteers walk around making sure ppl are wearing the masks properly and not just hanging it on the chin. One stadium match without masks does far more damage.

I live in Dubai, way better situation than UK

Public Elneny

Fucking Dubai man. Cursed place

Scwibble

It would be great for this squad to have time to work together, they didn’t really have that opportunity this summer since they were mostly newly signed. It’s always a good thing and I hope they come back fresh and optimistic. This team needs to know how good they are, I see man utd and sp*rs scrape wins but their luck will soon run out I’m sure, we just need to build on, we can be compared to the team klopp took to the europa League final in our development stage, but I’d say we’re further along and need signings… Read more »
