Confirmed: Leicester sign Arsenal youngster Richards

Arsenal have confirmed that Amani Richards has left Arsenal for Leicester City in a permanent deal.

The 17-year-old forward joined the Gunners from Chelsea 11 months ago and made decent progress featuring for both the under-18s and under-23s.

This season, he’s not had nearly as much game time (just 174 minutes across seven appearances) but all the same, it seems odd that he leaves the club just three months after he signed pro terms at Emirates Stadium.

In an interview with Arsenal.com, he said at the time: “I feel great, it’s a surreal feeling, especially because it’s my boyhood club and I grew up supporting them.

“Representing Arsenal is crazy, no words can describe it, it’s out of this world.”

Maybe we’ll find out more details in due course. In the meantime, best of luck to the kid at the King Power.

Keep the faith, trust the process 👏🏻

Graeb

The faith is tested, the process weird.

Naked Cygan

Fk the process, and fk Arteta and everyone who is turning this club into Burnley. We are going backwards every day. What happens if Laca is injured or suspended? Are we expecting to fight for top 4 with Nketiah? Are you fking having a laugh? And Laca and Nketiah contracts run out end of the year. Why are we getting rid of every player for free or peanuts? Why?

Tommmy

Yaya Sanogo is actually available on a free transfer. Top 4 here we come

Naked Cygan

I really find it hard to believe that we couldn’t convince just 1 fking striker from any country who is better, even slightly better than Nketiah to join us atleast on loan till the end of the season. If this was their fking process plan not to get a striker we should have kept Balegun and played him. Most likely Laca and Nketiah are leaving in the summer. This is all I madness.

Tommmy

I just cannot justify letting Auba leave for free and not bringing a single person in.
Arteta should have sorted it out until at least the summer, it’s up to him to get the most out of the squad. I’m not saying let him get away with murder but it’s literally a being late issue. Keep him as a bench player you can’t tell me he’s not a better option than Eddy off the bench

Joe

This is certainly their job…but ask yourself how are you going to convince this decent player to 1) sit behind Laca 2) move his life for 6 months knowing he’s unlikely to be 1st choice since we’re going to be making a splash this summer and 3) convince his TEAM that they should accept our peanuts offer of a loan. Just think through all of this logically and you have to at least concede that this “obvious” move is pretty tough to pull off.

Gabigol

Best wishes to him in his future career. I guess there priority for three academy now use clear, to give different experience to the youngsters and if they reach the end of the line with us we will make our best effort too find them a future in return for a fee. Sounds fair Especially considering the younger more talented players have a chance to step up and have something to aim for in their development, to play against older kids and aim to step up into the U23 then get maximum exposure via U23, training with first team and… Read more »

Okay, so plan is:
1. “sell” everyone for nominal fees.
2. … ? …
3. Profit!

Hank Scorpio

I assume you are referencing South Park’s ‘Underpants Gnomes’. It appears they would have made a better fist of this transfer window

MojoWillneny

Wow. Thought we’d have given him more time considering the hype around his potential when he arrived.

Zenithreptile

Maybe he pushed in front of Mikel in the queue for the vending machine at Colney?

Der32

What are the odds he’d become another Donyell Malen? Best of luck to the lad, seems like a natural goalscorer with a strong shot in him.

UzesGooner

Can we make a dash for Overmars now? Edu has turned back into Edu.

The whole embarrassing Vlahovic saga cost us in the end. We need to be more like Liverpool in the market…

If we go for Isak in the summer, go EARLY FFS!!!

Thierry Bergkamp (Xhaka Out)

What has everyone seen in Isak that I haven’t? Are the club even interested in him? The media said we wanted Buendia, then everyone got excited and lost their minds when Villa signed him. He looks amazing doesn’t he. Guimares gets linked with Arsenal because he and Edu are Brazilian. Newcastle of all clubs sign him and everyone moans. If we really wanted them, don’t you think we would have them, or at least a bigger club than Newcastle and Villa. Stop reading Football London and watching those “Welcome to Arsenal” Youtube videos. They’ve turned Arsenal supporters into fools. We… Read more »

OK panic buys are usually poor. But we let 6 players go and got in nobody. We are running out of players! We don’t have a striker worth the name, and we will be semi-reliant on Xhaka again in midfield. I’m guessing by your name you are not keen on that?!

Chris

Aside from  Aubameyang, we let a total of 5 players leave with 8 appearances between them, not really going to be missed. Striker issue is an issue but unless we can buy someone who will outscore Martinelli or Pepe, who can both play up top, why settle for less. If we go all summer without a striker, then I will agree with you

onenil

Pepe and Martinelli are wingers with different skills. We need someone with close control who can hold the ball up against a set defence, linking with the midfield players and then get on the end of things in the box. Laca does some of that, but does not score.
We are short of goals, I expect it will cost us a chance of 4th place.

Funsho Patrick

Didn’t you just describe bukayo? Just asking

Thierry Bergkamp (Xhaka Out)

Most of the players we let go are shit. Auba was good but can’t be relied on anymore. It’s clear the team became better without him. AMN is still unproven.
We have just the league to play in. A fit squad has proved they’re better than most, even with Laca and his laca goals. Maybe this is where Martinelli shows that he’s the man for up top.
My only regret is that we missed out on Zakaria for 6m and will be reliant on Xhaka

spartan

With regards to Guimares, it sounds like our “interest” in him, was actually just more nonsense coming from his agent, Kia. He hypes players claiming we’re considering them, in the hope that we do buy them, or that some other club comes in for them because Arsenal are supposedly interested. It happens in every window. The Guimares welcome video displayed how Kia plays this game. Lots of “links” to Arsenal, then congratulations to whichever club falls for his hype, you beat Arsenal to this player. Now here is a load of dross I can offload onto you for a nice… Read more »

Just watch him play. Two footed, fast, skilful, good in the air…..I think he looks great. We’re gonna need three new strikers in the summer, which is probably why we’ve waited as we think we can get him for €20m less.

I said during the Vlahovic trifle that Isak and someone like Watkins from Villa would be a good combination for us.

Who would be your targets guru?

I’ll ignore the Football London insult….

Francesc

Fact that we have only one centre back back-up and only one recognized No. 10 and two out-of-contract strikers is scary. Even getting in someone like Todd Cantwell would have been fine! Or should have just gone out and got Cesc Fabregas!

Santi's Little Helper

Reread this and have a look at yourself! How many players would have to go down for us to be giving serious minutes to Todd Cantwell? It’s all well and fine to sign new players that are hopefully great, but wasting money for no reason is a very poor strategy. It’s kinda hard to convince a team to let go of a good striker for the second half of the season for a measly loan fee. We play once a week for the rest of the season…can’t have a huge squad with that kind of schedule and we’ve got plenty… Read more »
