Arsenal Women International Watch

Arsenal Women do not play again until Sunday, 27th February when they travel to Liverpool for an FA Cup 5th Round tie. Over the next fortnight, the Gunners team will go off to play with their countries. Here’s a lowdown of who will be playing, when and where. (All times shown are UK).

Manu Zinsberger and Laura Wienroither have been selected to play for Austria, who play friendlies in Marbella on the following dates
Sunday, 20th February, 5pm, Marbella
Romania v Austria

Wednesday, 23rd February, 5pm, Marbella
Switzerland v Austria

 

Rafaelle has been selected to play for Brazil in the Tournoi de France and they play three games
Wednesday, 16th February, 6pm, Caen
Brazil v Netherlands

Saturday, 19th February, 8.10pm, Caen
France v Brazil

Tuesday, 22nd February, 5.30pm, Caen
Finland v Brazil

Lotte Wubben-Moy, Leah Williamson, Jordan Nobbs, Beth Mead and Nikita Parris have all been selected to play for England at the Arnold Clark Cup on home soil. They will play three games.
Thursday, 17th February, 7.30pm, Middlesbrough
England v Canada

Sunday, 20th February, 3.15pm, Norwich
England v Spain

Wednesday, 23rd February, 7.30pm, Wolverhampton
England v Germany

Jen Beattie has been called up to the Scotland squad to play in the Pinatar Cup
Wednesday, 16th February, El Mojon, 2.30pm
Wales v Scotland

Should Scotland win, there will be a semi-final against either Republic of Ireland or Poland on Saturday, 19th February followed by a final / third place playoff on Tuesday, 22nd February

Like Rafaelle, Vivianne Miedema will play in Le Tournoi de France. Netherlands’ three fixtures are as follows.
Wednesday, 16th February, 6pm, Caen
Brazil v Netherlands

Saturday, 19th February, 5pm, Caen
Netherlands v Finland

Tuesday, 22nd February, 8.10pm, Caen
France v Netherlands

 

Frida Maanum will represent Norway in the Algarve Cup
Wednesday, 16th February, 6.30pm, Algarve
Portugal v Norway

Sunday, 20th February, 12noon, Algarve
Norway v Italy

Katie McCabe will also play in the Pinatar Cup, captaining Ireland
Wednesday, 16th February, 2.30pm, La Manga
Ireland v Poland

Should Ireland win, there will be a semi-final against either Scotland or Wales on Saturday, 19th February followed by a final / third place playoff on Tuesday, 22nd February

Noelle Maritz has been called up to play for Switzerland as they play a pair of friendlies. Lia Walti has been rested due to a niggling foot problem she has been experiencing in recent weeks.

Simone Boye will represent Denmark in the Algarve Cup

Sweden v Denmark

Fran Stenson has been selected to play for England U23s, who will play France U23s on Thursday, 17th and Sunday, 20th February, both games kicking off at 2pm at St. George’s Park.

 

Stina Blackstenius will play for Sweden in the Algarve Cup
Friday, 18th February, 5pm, Algarve
Sweden v Portugal

Sunday, 20th February, 5.15pm, Algarve
Portugal v Sweden

Steph Catley, Lydia Williams and Caitlin Foord will have time off as Australia have no games, ditto Mana Iwabuchi and Japan. Lia Walti will get time off to rest her foot and Tobin Heath wasn’t called into the USA squad.

There appears to be better management of our players regarding internationals under Jonas. Is this because he opens channels of communication with the national team management to discuss player’s fitness in advance of the squad call up? We know that Wally and Tobin have had little niggles recently and a couple of weeks with their feet up will do neither of them any harm but I am convinced that prior to this season they would have been amongst the first names on the squad list for their respective teams and our club would suffer due to continued player unavailability as… Read more »

Good to know that Lia, Tobin and the Aussie trio will get some R & R. Probably the most in need of a break, and she’s getting one, is Captain Kim. She has been phenomenal in the three high intensity draws recently, particularly at Kingsmeadow.
Ps Has Lotte gone with England after her illness orcas it an injury?🤔

Good to see Lia, Tobin, Mana and our Aussie tro getting some R & R.. Also just as importantly Captain Kim. She has put in some phenomenal work in the last four games, particularly at Kingsmeadow. Her decision to retire from the international scene has obviously helped.
Ps Did Lotte actually show for the England camp?
