Arsenal to visit adidas HQ before Nürnberg friendly

Arsenal have confirmed that Mikel Arteta’s first team squad will undertake a training camp at adidas HQ in Germany before taking on FC Nürnberg in a friendly at the Max-Morlock-Stadion on Friday, 8 July.

Pre-season training is set to begin at London Colney in the final week of June for those players not currently on international duty before the squad jet off to Bavaria on 4 July.

After concluding matters on the continent, it’ll be back to London for a few days – possibly to play another friendly – before heading Stateside for three fixtures. The Emirates Cup clash with Sevilla will be our last before the new season kicks off a week later.

On the latest update to the plans, Mikel Arteta said: “We’re very pleased to have our training camp at adidas HQ confirmed to kick off our pre-season schedule. I’d like to thank adidas for hosting us. We’re excited to get to work at the world-class facilities the campus has to offer.”

We think we’re right in saying the match with Nürnberg will be a first between the sides. There’s not a huge history between the clubs although we did send Martin Angha and Dinos Mavropanos on loan there in 2013 and 2020 respectively.

Is it reasonable to assume our signings will be done on time to have time to gel with the squad with some of these friendlies? I don’t know anymore.

PeteyB

Absolutely reasonable. 🤣

Unfortunately we are not loaded with cash so most of the expensive signings can’t be done quick enough or as quickly as we would wish. The selling clubs also play hard ball to maximise profit

allezkev

No Borehamwood game?

Mayor McCheese

I miss those, and the Austrian ones against the likes of SC Wacker Wien and Rapid Wiener.

Krumphax

Some respect for SK Rapid Wien and probably FC Admira Wacker Mödling my dear friend. I would have loved to be around them. Saw a 2014ish video with some marketing stuff from styria. Still hurts not literally sit on the fences there.
But Nürnberg is close enough.

Ebuka Nwaokeke

Arsenal will be lucky to finish 5th next season..

canon fodder

I am trying vey hard to find the point of your post. We finished 5th last season, so with the necessary additions, why do you think that we will be lucky not to achieve it again? I am hoping that we win the Carabao Cup and the Europa League and that we also attain a top 4 finish.

Jeremy DG

Cool, thanks for your contribution Ebuka. Now jog on back to your trophy dodgers.

He can’t be a Sp*rs fan. He’s Nigerian, and for all our mess-ups, I don’t think anyone here has sunk so low as to be Sp*rs supporter.

He’s most likely a Chelsea fan looking to troll.

Jeremy

Fair point.

Mayor McCheese

I can’t tell you how much I hate playing Chelsea in preseason. Can we just please make it a point in future never to play Premier League opposition in preseason? Seems like an opportune time for a ‘mistimed’ tackle to reduce a rival’s squad options. Seriously. It’s foolish.

I miss the pre-season friendly with Barnet at Underhill. I grew up around there as a kid and it was how I fell in love with this beautiful game and club.

Crash Fistfight

It would have to be at The Hive, these days. Underhill was pretty great.

Krumphax

Close enough for everyone not in the UK or the US. Very much like this fixture.

Can you visit the adidas HQ to watch the training?
