Kathrine Kuhl signs for Arsenal Women

Arsenal Women have confirmed their second signing in the space of 24 hours with confirmation that 19-year-old Danish midfielder Kathrine Kuhl has joined the club from FC Nordsjælland. Ajax midfielder Victoria Pelova was confirmed on Friday.

The midfielder made her debut for the Danish National Team in April 2021 and already has 21 caps for her country, including performances at last summer’s UEFA Women’s European Championship.

Kuhl is considered one of the finest talents in Scandinavia and further reinforces the squad after Jordan Nobbs was sold to Aston Villa earlier this week.

“I’m very excited and am looking forward to playing for Arsenal. It’s a big step for me,” Kathrine said. “I feel like there are so many great things around the club; all the fans and the community, it’s like a sisterhood in some way. So, I’m looking forward to being a part of that.”

“Kathrine is one of the brightest talents in Europe so we’re delighted to have brought her to Arsenal,” added Head Coach Jonas Eidevall. “She will bring added creativity to our midfield and I’m sure she will benefit from working closely with some of our experienced players. I’m looking forward to working with her here at Arsenal moving forward.”

Head of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley said: “We’re delighted to have brought Kathrine to Arsenal. She is one of the most highly rated young footballers in the game and fits the profile of player we want to bring to the club perfectly. I’m sure our supporters will join me in welcoming Kathrine to our club.”

We will have a podcast on Kathrine in the next couple of days on Arseblog News.

Welcome to Arsenal Kathrine Kühl.
Now let’s get Debinha!

Daniel

Seems in a similar vein to the Pelova singing, a young player to bring down the age profile and prepare for the future, but also can come into the team now and make an impact

Matt

Agreed, just the right kind of signing in my opinion. I wonder if they’ll bring in a more experienced player to slot into Mead’s position though. Just because ideally that player will need to hit the ground running.

*cough* Debinha, please *cough*

C.B.

It’s a really kuhl signing…

Peter Story Teller

Don’t you mean that is one Kuhl Kat?
Sorry, I’ll get my coat!

Good addition to the squad however.

Meep meep

🤦‍♀️❤

Steve

Welcome to the AFC, Katherine wishing you all the success at the club.

Torterrier

Great news, Kathrine is a big deal here in Denmark – so happy she’s signed for Arsenal.

A lot of competition for the attacking midfield role now which is nice but are we going to be a bit light in defensive midfield again? Still plenty of time in transfer window so maintaining hope.

Fun Gunner

I’m crossing my fingers, too. True, top DMs/DLPs are thin on the ground, but I am hoping for a creative and elegant solution.

Matt

Perhaps Goldie could be an option there?

Gunner H

We have Kim – it’s like having Messi, Beckham & Zidane rolled into one!

chig

I love Kim Little but she is 32 yrs old now and statistically injury risk increases with age. I hope they keep her fit by not loading her with too much

Two signings in less than 48 hours!

This is wonderful news and so exciting. Well done and congratulations to the club and Kathrine Kuhl.

Looking forward to the podcast, Tim. The previous one on Pelova was great.

ross

both these new signings are more likely to be of benefit in future seasons given neither player has any experience in England as well as their respective ages. cannot expect them just to drop in this winter and smash.

will there be a signing *this month* that is more obviously geared towards helping Arsenal on the field *this* season?? Debinha on a two year deal sounded really good given all context but thats not happening now obviously.
