Jorginho and Zinchenko reflect on a dramatic win at Villa

Jorginho and Alex Zinchenko faced the BT Sport cameras after Arsenal’s remarkable 4-2 win over Aston Villa.

Here’s what the pair had to say after sealing the three points with two goals in stoppage time.

On a dramatic ending…

Jorgi: That’s the Premier League, that’s why it’s the best league in the world. It’s beautiful.

On it being a significant win…

Jorgi: Of course, it’s very important after the last results we had. The start wasn’t easy, we weren’t producing our game and then we came in at half time, we had a talk, a chat, and then we went back to doing the basics of what we need to do. We changed the game.

On needing to change the game plan…

Zinny: I think from this game, I would like to say two things. First, we took an unbelievable lesson all of us that we need to believe until the very end and we can achieve everything. Like I said many times in the past, this group is such an amazing people and can achieve everything that they want if they continue in this way, keep fighting and believing. Also, the reaction from all of us in the second half was perfect, that’s the right way to go for the future games.

On scoring his first Arsenal goal…

Zinny: Obviously, I’m so happy to help with my goal but the most important thing was we took three points. That’s always the priority.

On the unique way Jorginho’s goal went in…

Jorginho: No [I’ve not done that before], the last time I hit the post and it hit the keeper, it didn’t go in. I’m glad today it did.

On what the result does for morale…

Zinny: We would like to go in the dressing room as soon as possible, once again though, there’s still a lot of games to play and we just need to keep going, keep fighting and keep believing.

They were stars today. But not the only ones. True gutsy performance today. Ugly. But still the performance that makes teams champions. Long, long way still to go but this is the kind of win that ultimately helps us get over the line. COYG!!!

VAR will solve all the problems

I was watching that replay of the goal again. Jorginho’s hands went his head as soon as it hit the bar blaming his luck. The despair before and the elation after Emi heads it in, is a joy forever! If we win the title this season, I think this was the moment for me!

John

Got to say I was resigned to a dispiriting draw. This team though…

Shano

I woke up very negative this morning. First game I didn’t watch all season, refreshed my phone till the 90 minute and then gave my phone to my gf and put a timer on my phone and asked the universe to help. I’m ecstatic to say the least

Sachin

Just keep your phone to your gf forever man

Thierry Bergkamp (non negotiable)

I started trying to convince myself that a draw was a good result. Even told the mrs “it’s only football”, when she asked why I’m so calm

Onenil

Jorgi not the worst player we’ve signed from Chelsea! 😁

Bongogooner

I think he proved me wrong

PeteyB

He was good today. Fingers crossed he keeps it up. One day at Fulham I thought Willian was a good deal!

H3n

true that, brother

Ozzie

Jorgi: “that’s why it’s the best league in the world. It’s beautiful.”
…as are you Jorgi.

Nathan

Jorga bonita 🙂

Bill Hall

Respect to the lad, Jorg has already done more for this team in two matches than Willian did in his entire Arsenal career 🤣

titi

Willian has been brilliant at Fulham this season though

Arsenalnut

Willian has done more fr us while at Fulham than he did in his season playing for us.

Eric Blair

There will always be Fulham

Thierry Bergkamp (non negotiable)

Jorginho.
The man I never wanted Arsenal. How foolish am I

BsinGooner

This performance should end all the Jorginho hating, which frankly he never deserved. He was immense in these two games. Lets all back him even if he makes an odd mistake.

Emi Rates

Considering all the dross they’ve sold us in the past I’d hardly call fans not being initially thrilled by another player over thirty from Chelsea “hating”.

Arsenalnut

I have no idea what happened with Willian. Have you seen him at Fulham? He looks like the guy we thought we bought 3 years ago. Pisses me the fuck off! Was he Agent Willian, purposely being a dismal, slow, useless thing?

Emi Rates

I’ve seen him. The bloke is on fire. Makes you wonder if he has a lazy twin brother hidden away somewhere.

Rotten Egg

I guess ‘dross’ or not depends on one’s perspective. For me, Petr Cech helped us finished second, which we btw have yet to achieve in the last 6 or 7 seasons..and Luiz (David) contributed immensely in our FA cup glory/win over chelski and city. With regard to Luiz, for me personally he is instrumental as well in the initial Arteta squad rebuilding, if only as a stop gap measure. So while they were not ‘perfect’ signings ..I wouldnt exactly called them dross. Willian on the other hand at the end you could probably called him a dross of a player… Read more »

COYG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vieiraera

Lucky today. Could have been worse. Not piling on Eddie Nketiah. But he is good but bout not good enough to win us the league. Too many costly misses. A top 9 had to to take those effing chances in a tight game like this and the previous against Citeh Jesus pls come back quickly. 🙏🏼. We need the chaotic variations you bring.

Giuseppe Hovno

Nketiah was inches away from being a dominant hero today

A Different George

Or, you could say we were unlucky: Eddie’s header touches the bar, Odegaard misses misses a wide-open goal, etc. etc.

Arsenalnut

Just a thought-who stole the ball and laid it on a plate for Martin? It was, the not good enough for you, Nketiah. Also how was that truly awful miss Eddie’s fault? I hear nobody criticizing Odegaard. I don’t know why.

Who won the penalty in the game against City? Same guy, right? He’s missing some chances, but he’s also contributing in significant ways that folks want to ignore while ignoring the mistakes of others. Has Eddie become our scapegoat? He’s not behind our poor defense recently, is he?

Steven

Whodda thunk it. Jorginho is rather good at playing the Jorginho role….

Ebo

Beyond the fact he scored himself Jorginho’s close control to free up Ben White in the lead up to the first goal was outstanding, this is exactly what we need from our midfielders in the final third

I really couldn’t understand the negativity when we signed him, hope that’s done and dusted now

Cornish Goon

“When the going gets tough, the tough get going”! This team aren’t going to bottle it.

Mark

Would love some player to say that their goal meas more than the 3 points. Ben White?

Anthony

Nah.
Ben probably doesn’t even like playing football. But does it because he’s good at it. 😂

Zet

It is wonderful to see how these bunch of footballers we signed from rival clubs are enjoying their football in Arsenal. Such a pleasure having Zinchenko, Jesus , Trossard and Jorginho giving their positive influences. Something is so special about the Gunners.

Doghouse

Let’s be honest as great as it is coming from behind twice to win in injury time what’s worrying is the 5 goals conceded in 2 games, had it not been for Ramsbo’s finger tips and bar we would of lost this game, lets hope miki can find a solution to this problem otherwise we are not going to be as lucky to collect 3 points like we was yesterday
