Arsenal moved into second place in the Premier League after a 5-2 win against West Ham this evening.
All the goals came in the first half with strikes from Gabriel, Leandro Trossard, Martin Odegaard (pen), and Kai Havertz putting the Gunners 4-0 up. But then the home side scored twice to peg us back a bit before another penalty from Bukayo Saka extended the lead just before the break.
The second half was tame by comparison, but a professional job from Mikel Arteta’s side ensured we took all three points back to North London.

Loving it
We are back to strong performances, no coincidence that Odegaard is back! Such a great player.
Yes, it is really factual. We got back to good form from his first game after injury.
Is he on a vegan diet? Loving his lean look!
I know he’s not perfect and he definitely won’t get the headlines today, but I just love the way we play when Jorginho is in the team.
Jorginho gets an extra point for engaging in a stare-down with Fabianski before Sterling’s free-kick, only for Taylor to spoil the party
Completely agree, I thought Jorginho was fantastic again. His awareness of the state of play in every moment and understanding of the optimal play when he receives the ball is so impressive. Always composed, always has time and space and is instrumental in helping us dictate the tempo of games like this. He’s a true deep lying playmaker.
I feel like we have a good squad. But it is still a two tier squad.
Sterling, Jesus, Kiwior and Zinny are objectively a step down in quality right now.
I think our chances of glory this season will be centred around their ability to recapture some form and make key contributions.
There are Johnny and no denying that but do is joe Gomez, Quansah, Enzo and Co for Liverpool, ok they have ridiculous 5 front to choose from and best no2 keeper in league but besides are light in defence and deffo midfield.
City115 are showing how poor their youths are and old men in midfield aswell as Ake and Akanji returning to their ordinary mode.
Chelsea have mad depth in places but still poor and flat enough.
I think were as good as anyone in squad cover
Well, apart from the players who were on today, the squad includes Martinelli, Partey, and Merino, as well as the injured Ben White–all four of those are in the top tier. There’s also Nwaneri. (Also, I’m not sure I agree about Zinchenko–maybe bypassed because our style has changed, but certainly capable of a good game against some opponents–including today.)
We have the starting 11 and then Merino, Trossard or Martinelli (whichever one is not starting), Nwaneri and Jorginho as the real quality subs, Jesus and Zinchenko can serve a purpose coming off of the bench in certain matches, but are not starters anymore and Kiwior and Sterling are way below the level needed. Lewis-Skelly is a quality player, but looks like he is not going to get much of a chance to even be on the bench much less play meaningful minutes. Of course we have the injured defenders White, Tomiyasu and Tierney (who actually made the bench). Not… Read more »
I don’t know why you got that many downvotes. You are bang on!
Raya’s passing is ridiculously good for a keeper.
You could stop after ridiculously good
He’s a false goalkeeper
😅 A false Centre back you mean
I think he is a deep lying playmaker who can catch ball
Key lads were excellent as ever . Raya immense passing , man above its different level passes. Gabi sensational again and stamps authority on games and makes sure teams don’t think they can bully us Saka and Martin are generational talents ans we’re class in heavy London traffic, they were twisting and turning and threading one twos. Delighted with Timber the run of games is showcasing his class, he’s better than I could have hoped and u know he’s only getting better. Old man Jorgi was class too and delighted for him to still be key guy but hope nothing… Read more »
I simply do not understand Taylor.
Otherwise fantastic team effort.
The commentary went on about Arsenal being vulnerable when West Ham scored the two goals. The first goal maybe a bit of lapse in concentration.. the second tho- never a free kick, and no keeper in the world would have stopped that.
Also, thought it was quite sad how content West Ham was with the 2-5 scoreline.. they took no chances in the second half, and Fabianski spent like 3 minutes on his goal kicks.
I thing the best thing he did all day was his Left Hook on big Gabby
The bonus rating sums up West Ham perfectly, dirty, nasty cunts.
Well, gotta give AT some credit for giving us two pens…and allowing them to get away with some murder. But still…i felt like he was, reffing up to a decent enough standard compared to cokaine coots and that fuckin gilllett muthafucka. Old man Jorgi, oh boy, top game, interceptions passes. Trossard, Saka, the boys, Øde, calamari, the whole gang I love em.
I thought the one genuine mistake Taylor made was in our favour, He was about to play advantage, but then changed his mind and blew for the free kick–*after* it seemed apparent West Ham actually had gotten an advantage.
Mmmmm… calamari.
Just realised, they were the first 2 penalties we’ve got in the league this season.
Like bloody buses. You wait ages for a penalty and then two come along at once.
Hopefully Calamari’s long standing tentacle issue will not trouble him too much.
Feels like Saka is basically unplayable with a proper creative midfielder and right back alongside him. Not sure there’s been a more consistent player in the league so far this season, apart from arguably Salah, and at Saka’s age he was scrubbing boots at Cobham!
You could argue that he even scored first for West Ham…(Wannabe-saka?)
10 goals in 2 games inside a week, with 5 different scorers each time. we must be doing something right.
But… we need a striker? All the pundits say so, so it must be true… right?
Loved the first half (even with our giving up two goals), but what a dud of a second half and was just praying they didn’t injure anyone with all the hacking and dangerous tackles they were doing. Everyone did pretty well other than Sterling who looks like a shell of himself (and he’s only 28). Had a few opportunities with plenty of space in front of him on the right after he came in to attack on the dribble, but just held the ball there (and didn’t look like he was doing it for a tactical reason) and then that… Read more »
In his signing video, Sterling said “People like to talk don’t they? Well so do I. And I’ll say this. You’re about to see the best of me.”
Maybe he meant he’s just really good at interviews.
I hope he finds some form for us; enough to make a difference and help us win the league, but not so much that Chelsea can sell him for good money.
I feel his situation is similar to Gabriel Jesus’s. Like he just needs one spark moment and we’ll start seeing what we all hoped to see. It’s just that time is ticking on for both and without the stats the minutes for and value of forwards dives off a cliff edge.
Yes, it was sad to see Sterling clomping around on the pitch, not seeing passes, not beating defenders, being passed easily when defending, and worst of all, not hustling, as you say. If all he is is a warm body to put out there to protect Saka from getting kicked when we’re up three goals late on, he’s keeping us from giving a young player some playing time and thus worse than useless.
Yes. Looks about 47 in footballing years, doesn’t he?
I’m just guessing Arteta thought the game was already all but won, so its was more saving energy for Tuesday than anything else in the second half.
Sterling annoyed me today. I know the situation is we need to close out the game. But don’t ignore runners. I feel he slowed down the play unnecessarily.
I never expected much from Sterling to be honest. He’s not going to be an impact sub that changes games, just an option to give our wide men a 15-minute rest in games that are already won. He will go back to Chelsea at the end of the season and they will have to cough up £34 million for the last two years of his contract.
wake up everyone no striker no win
We absolutely need a striker if we are to win the league. 5 goals against whu does not prove anything.
The whole team was superb in the first half and my only negative comment is about Jesus who is so ineffective and has the most expensive weekly price tag we need to move him in January and get a super sub who can come on and score a goal in the last 30 minutes of a game.
